Played a game yesterday where there was a QME with a PPR. Everything he shot with it was instantly staggered. I don't recall the PPR staggering enemies when I have used it, and neither did the other BSNer with me in the game.

The fact the stagger was instant upon being hit would exclude Explosive Ammo, right? And the enemies weren't stunned as if hit with Disruptor.

Does anyone have an explanation?

Hax.

The game was bugging out, and you weren't seeing him throwing arc grenades.

Uh, beyond that, not really.  I don't think the PPR even staggers on charged up headshot, does it?

Only thing I can think of is the ammo used, disruptor or Incindiary on unshielded mooks, otherwise it shouldn't....

It does, but as Marksmad describes it, hack seems the most probable explanation.

Hax, no ammo makes on the PPR stagger.

None.

Inc makes characters panic, and Frost works the same as other guns. Exp ammo only procs once. Only a hack force attribute does that.

It was pure astonishment about a scrub suddenly hitting targets is what I think.

To try to construct a general reply to the points raised.

It was on PC. Regarding hax, the QME was not the host (Siren was hosting) and he joined when the game was already in progress so we never got to see his loadout. The enemies were staggering even from a bodyshot - since it was a PPR I could see where he was shooting, obviously. whatever he was doing wasn't terribly effective, since he was outscored by a QFI with a Paladin (me), and was 3rd on the scoreboard. He never threw any arc nades that I could see, and the game wasn't bugged for me anyway. the ammo wasn't incendiary or disruptor because those produce visible effects that I would have recognised. Explosive staggers after a delay, not instantaneously. Phasic doesn't stagger either, does it?

I was very conscious of the effect, because of course he staggered everything that I had lined up for a headshot. When I saw the effect I called it out to Siren so she came over to check it out and saw it too.

So, what am I missing?

And no, I wasn't haxxing just to drive marksmad crazy with his missed headshots, although it was entertaining. A bit like my rant when he cooked me in the Reactor while I was on the last device on Wave 10 Collector Plat with pugs, I suppose, which he also found hugely entertaining.  :P

But yes, the effects were stagger, not stun, and I had not seen anything like that before either. I thought ammo effect as well, perhaps explosive, but it was just too fast for how I remember that ammo working, back when I used it last in 2013...

The gun itself will not stagger.....when I am not using Incid or Disruptor ammo..I do see mooks generally just stand there & take the lazer-ing...My favorites are Collector Captains cuz they actually try to fight back while being lazerd..sometimes they even walk towards the light...

I prefer to use a stagger power then start shooting the PPR..cuz reasons & it's easier with the ramp up..that's why whenever I use the TGI..PPR is the only gun I put on him any more.

That's weird. However, you don't need to host in this game to hax, so maybe that's what was going on.

It wasn't headshots because he was mostly hitting centre of mass.

The enemy were staggering as if hit with a shot from an Adas.

^ Wait, don't enemies also need to lose shields to be staggered? I don't remember...

Every enemy has a hit reaction chance tied to several factors IIRC.

I've got a couple thousand hours in this game, and as I said in the first post above, it seemed odd to me. Siren thought it was unusual too. Since I've never seen it before, I'm just wondering if anyone else has seen something like it.

Definitely odd if you're noticing that much stagger from that weapon IMO. A weapon like say the Talon will cause a flinch on a unshielded trooper at times if you don't kill them outright, a lot other enemies stagger when their shields break, etc, mid elites like Brutes and Elites like Banshees also can be staggered by enough burst damage, or if the enemy has a destructible area like Praetorians, Scions or Atlases. None of this really sounds like the case though from what you're describing.

Nope.

Take Bruce Lee HAdept build and you can stagger Shees and Crabs while they still have barrier.

Probably this, and yes, they might work off host.

They will work off host but you won't see it beyond normal looks as the graphics are still timed at 3 seconds. It doesn't replicate that info to clients. On host it uses the correct graphics time.
