I made a mess of someone else's topic by repeatedly trying and failing to embed a youtube video.

 

I followed advice I found here, and the advice of someone in the topic, but nothing worked. I've tried it on Chrome and Firefox, with the same result.

 

I don't know if I'm being stupid, or if there's something wrong with my settings. I'd welcome any advice, but I'll also be using this topic to experiment and try to fix the problem myself.

 

 

 

EDIT: lol! And it works immediately when I try to do it here! How embarrassing. Still don't understand why it didn't work in the other topic. The only thing that's different is I used the Youtube time stamp share tool for the other one.

EDIT 2: Ok, that's the problem. Embedding to a Youtube vid works fine, but embedding to a time-stamped link doesn't. Does anyone know what you need to do to link to the above video at a particular time during it?

Thanks, but it doesn't seem to be embedding like it would if you don't time stamp it.

 

If you right click on the embedded video in my 1st post, you get an option to 'copy URL at current time'. But if you do that, then use the media button to post it, you only get this:

This forum won't accept timestamped Youtube videos. You'll have to link the video and tell people at what point it is whatever you wish to show.

 

You can link them via text like this, but that's it as far as timestamped Youtube clips are concerned.
