Been gone from DA:I awhile. So the prowler leather armor in hissing wastes is still the best armor for all classes and all builds? And in the DLC there is finally one armor which is better than prowler armor?

Superior Prowler Armor is the best for Warriors if you want to do damage.

 

Superior Battlemage armor is the best for rogues/mages if you want to do damage. There is a material in Jaws of Hakkon that gives dexterity in cloth utility slots.

Not true, only leather gives dex, Jaws of Hakkon just added a tier 4 leather giving +2dex in utility slots. Prowler armor is still the best for damage.

The avvar cotton gives only 1.75dex, while the leather gives 2dex. The Battlemage armor has 4 leather utility and 22 cloth utility (including arms/legs) which gives 46.5dex. The prowler armor has 23 leather utility (including legs/arms) which gives 46dex. Even if the game rounds up and you get 1 more dex it's not worth sacrificing 44armor for 1 dex point.

Armor doesn't help you do damage. An extra point in dex does. For doing damage, it's the best armor on rogues/mages. Hence the "If you want to do damage" part of my original post.

 

Armor doesn't apply to barrier (if you're a KE) and you shouldn't be getting hit on either of those classes if you're not a KE tbh.

 

And the game rounds up.

 

Plus unless you're going to exploit to get more ice dragon hide, you're not even going to get enough Ice Dragon Hide to get that level of dex on superior prowler. Avaar cotton, on the other hand, is farmable.

I realize attractiveness is subjective, but Sweet Zombie Jesus the ugly armor/helmet/weapon always has the best stats.  I think BioWare is trolling us.

You did not do the "Do you only care about looks" folks justice. They deserve their own flowchart, probably bigger than all of the above combined. I can see decisions getting all the way down to, "Is the clasp shiny gold or only burnished gold?"
