I've been putting off playing the last mission of DA:I cos I knew there'd be DLC, and now I have it all I'm just wondering if it's worth completing the game first or doing the DLC and then completing the game? I've already played through JoH, but I've not started the Deep Roads one or the Trespasser one. Does anyone have any advice? I know Trespasser is the last one so is it worth leaving it until after the game is done? I spose it doesn't matter, I'm just curious as to what people think and if you played one of the DLC's and thought you should have played it before/after ending the game?
Best time to play DLC? (No spoilers!)

You can't play Trespasser until you have won the game. So it has to go last. Furthermore, you cannot go back and do any unfinished stuff in any other zone or DLC once you start Trespasser, so you need to do the Descent and/or any unfinished missions you might have put off you need to finish them off. Both the Descent and JoH can be done before or after you win. If you like Solas or want his banter/insight, do them before. I personally treat them both as post win DLC.

I know some people think that Descent fits best after defeating Cory but I liked doing it much earlier because then I could use the tier 4 schematics and good loot much earlier. I played Descent at level 16, I think, with my latest character. I'll be playing JOH at level 24. Trespasser has to be played after the main game.

There are two schools of thought that I subscribe to.
1) For story reasons: do them all after beating the game, in chronological order of release: so main game, JoH, Descent, Trespasser. This is how I did/am doing them and they fit into the game narrative (such as it is) quite well that way.
2) For tactical min/max reasons: When you do Descent depends on whether you are playing a Rift Mage or not. If not, do Descent after WEWH/Abyss and before What Pride Had Wrought, or at least, before beating the main game. If so, you can do it any time, from before Abyss, where some of the loot from Descent would be very handy in the Fade, to after beating the main game. When you do JoH has more to do with your level and gear than your career -- you can do JoH under-leveled if you have over-leveled gear and ways to deal with one-shot archers and assassins and cold attacks.
What does a Rift Mage have to do with anything? (Descent and Main Game spoilers):
You can also split the difference with Descent. You don't have to finish it all in one go. Do the first half before Abyss, do the second half after beating the main game, or something like that.

Any time really. Once you have completed it the first time, sync the schematics to the nug. If you really want some of the specific uniques, play until you get that and then come back to it when you think that specific dlc fits into the storyline. I do Hakkon early ish to get Aegis of the Rift. Comes in handy in Descent Especially when upgraded.
