Was the Maker/Andraste involved? I believe so.

I don't see how the Maker/Andraste wasn't involved in saving the Inquisitor. Solas lead Corypheus to his orb via his spies. He knew unlocking it would create a massive arcane explosion.

When Corypheus completed the ritual to unlock the orb the future Inquisitor "just happened" to walk in on him somehow getting pass the Grey Warden guards that would have likely been guarding the entrance to assure that Corypheus would not be disturbed. Distracted by the Inquisitor's entrance, the Divine knocked the orb out of his hand, which is now a live bomb ready to explode it's arcane energy and the Inquisitor picks it up and then it unlocks, destroying everyone and everything in and near the temple.

Corypheus reforms sometime later via the taint but somehow the Inquisitor survives by getting pulled into the Fade. How does this happen when he/she doesn't even know what the anchor is let alone how to use it? Also how does the Inquisitor use the anchor throughout the game having zero knowledge about it and it's use. Besides that, if the person using the orb could simply transport themselves into the Fade upon unlocking the orb escaping the explosion that would happen, then there is no way that Solas would have let Corypheus unlock it, since he was convinced that the explosion would kill him. Nobody had a better understanding of the magic of the orb than Solas, since the orb was his. Corypheus himself couldn't understand how the Inquisitor survived the explosion. This suggests that it should not have been possible to receive the anchor by simply unlocking the orb. If unlocking the orb instantly bestowed the anchor then how would Corypheus retain it if his body is vaporized by the explosion? If he could instantly transport himself to the Fade he would have known exactly how the Inquisitor survived the explosion.

I also don't think that Justinia survived and that wasn't her in the Fade. I think it was a spirit of faith. The same one that helps you later in the Fade.

Had the Inquisitor not survived, it would have been a very short game.

While I don't think Andreste was involved(she's likely long gone to wherever the dead go after passing though the fade be it the maker's side or wandering the void) I wouldn't discount some sort of indirect involvement by the maker.

I doubt some omnipotent spirit sits in black city and sometimes play with people like doles.

Is all this unknown to us? Yes. Does that mean the maker is involved? No. The science behind the orb is obviously complicated and the grey wardens incompetence is just a coincidence. The inquisitor panics when falling from the rubble and somehow activates a rift that sends hawke and friends into the fade, and the inquisitor survived the initial explosion by pure accident. If people in the game were to have a chance to study this magic, im sure we would find out a definitive answer. But by saying the maker or andraste is involved is just filling in a puzzle piece by forcing it in, and it poses more questions than it answers. Such as; why would the maker being totally omnipotent not foresee and prevent the chain of events that lead to this? Unless he's a cruel narcissistic jerk who just likes watching us kill eachother.

You mean other than that pesky thing called free will. if the lore is to believed the maker is rather fond of free will being the supposed reason he turned away from the spirits, if he directly interferes to prevent something from happening he would be trampling over people free will to choice and take actions to better or worsen themselves and the world.

I don't think so. A simple twist of fate, nothing more.

That and plot holes... Lots of plot holes...

I almost fell through one of those plot holes on my way to the forums.

More likely just a spirit of faith, although why it chose to save you and not Justinia is a bit of a puzzle.    Still from what we were shown, it would seem that Justinia knocks the anchor towards you at the moment Cory's spell was coming to fruition, so the anchor that should have fused to his hand instead attached to your own.  When the explosion of unlocking the orb occurred you were already in the Fade because the anchor took you there automatically.    Then the spirit of faith that had been hovering in the vicinity decided to help you escape back out again.

Solas allegedly creates the Veil and destroys the world of the Evanuris. The Evanuris are sealed away. Solas goes to sleep.

He awakes to find a world he dislikes. So he sets out to tear down the Veil, thus destroying the world.

He decides to use Corypheus to unlock the orb. After which he would simply reclaim the orb and tear down the Veil. But things don't go as planned.

Corypheus decides to use the Divine as a sacrifice. The Divine serves the Maker. The Herald happened to show up at just the right time. The Divine knocks the orb away from Cory, and the Herald picks it up. The explosion happens, the Herald survives because of the Spirit of Faith. The Spirit of Faith saved the Herald because it had observed Divine Justinia's faith, and decided to emulate her and fulfill her will.

Cory also survives to pose a threat, thus he is a reason for Solas to save the Herald's life from the mark. Cory's survival also keeps the now unlocked orb out of Solas' hands. Who afflicted Corypheus with the taint, which allowed him to survive the blast and reclaim the unlocked orb? The Maker.

Who imprisoned Corypheus? The Grey Wardens, which started as an organization that serves the Maker.

Who encouraged the magisters to breach the Golden City, which led to them being tainted? The old gods. Who imprisoned the old gods? The Maker.

Who released Corypheus at just the right time? Hawke, and Hawke serves the Maker. Who led Hawke to the prison? Varric, who believes in the Maker.

The Maker is involved in all of it.

The Grey Wardens actually started out as a gathering of Tevinter mages and army veterans in the Anderfels, which was part of western Tevinter at the time.

This was during the chaos of the first blight, around -305 Ancient. They killed Dumat in the year -203 ancient , which was the year Andraste was born.

Andraste was (acording to myth) born in the then small village of Denerim on the other side Thedas.

The Grey Wardens had been around for a century before Andraste.

The Maker is involved in all of it.

The Maker being involved in all the major events of the world actually goes against Chantry teaching. The Maker has left creation and won't return untill the chant is "sung by all the world" or something.

Still The Maker being the benign puppet master of the world is propably not the case. It seems silly.

Also Corypheus states that the Black/Golden City was empty and filled with lies. I believe him.

Well, they started as Donarks and Anders, but it's said Tevinter mages lent their support in developing the Joining, as did some elven slaves. So yeah, they didn't start out under the Maker, but after the second blight they converted to the Chantry.

The Maker might not be involved anymore, but he was before Andraste was betrayed and killed. It was during those times that the Maker set future events into motion.

Oh yeah? Well, where is Corypheus now?

Lets be realistic, the third game should have been called, Dragon Age: Plot Holes.

And instead of the "county" repaving the road, they choose to use cheap filler instead. ;)
