As in, this:

Spoiler

Isn't that way better than the 'toy planet' style we ended up with in ME2/3?

Do you have any screens available of the ME2/3 galaxy map? I don't remember what it was like.

P.S.

The Uncharted Worlds track needs to return. Love that track.

It will be something new, but I wish it'll be like this

The galaxy map itself was the same, but the planets looked like this:

Which is not my preference.

I'd rather a "toy" planet that can be scanned and spun around over a picture with a brief description.  Although, I liked ME1's just fine.

If we're not going to interact with the planet, I suppose the ME1 view is a bit prettier. It's not like we actually need to see the whole thing, or know what shape the continents are, or any of that.

I agree with the OP. I'd like to see the view of the planet as if the ship is actually in orbit. Seeing the whole planet doesn't really matter to me. I'd love to be able to see land detail from this view, but I shan't be greedy.

Its nice to see the planet, but I would rather be on the planet exploring it or have a mission on that planet

Well, if the planet can be explored, you'd basically have both. Old El Paso girl blesses this.

Unlike Dragon Age, I feel like Mass Effect as a science fiction / space opera franchise needs to be visually stunning. So I agree that the ME1 view of planets trumps the ME2/3 versions, and I don't think anyone enjoyed having to slowly rotate through the planets with the scanner and search for resources.

I'm not usually a proponent of "the old ways were the better ways" but in this case I did enjoy the beautiful planets of ME1 :)

I would prefer a combination of the two personally. The Mass Effect 1 way does look prettier, but I also want to see the entirety of the planets.

Well, the ME2/3 view is an orbital view too; just a higher orbit. Actually, it looks quite like what you see from a geostationary orbit, though obviously the planet wouldn't rotate if you were in one of those.

True, but the ME1 version is still more authentic and far prettier. B)

Yeah, wasn't a fan of the whole scanning thing.

Agreed, OP - Also, that Galaxy Map theme NEEDS to return. An absolute necessity

Agreed. I also didn't enjoy piloting a little Normandy around the map either, and much preferred just selecting the planets and interacting with them as if through the Galaxy Map interface itself, not through a representation of the ship. Just personal preference though.

I liked the ME1 implementation of the map better as well.  No need to actually fly the ship around, as this isn't a space flight sim.

Absolutely. That really got old fast.

I didn't like how badly-defined the ship's actual position was in ME1, though.

If I may ask, what was so bothersome about that in your eyes? Because at no point did it have any negative impact on the gameplay or narrative.

The ME:A teaser trailer shows a better view.

It's an RP thing. The ship is in a particular place at all times. Shepard would know what that place is, so I should too.

And I'd like to have the exact position have an impact. I thought adding fuel consumption was a fine idea; I just wish they'd gone all the way and added drive discharge and a calendar.

Agreed with OP I would also like the ME1 travel system to return. You basically clicked to the planet and you get there.

Piloting the Normandy sending probes/refueling/avoiding Reapers was NOT fun.

I'm also very optimistic about that. :) let the exploration part of the game take place on the planets rather than in space. Piloting the Normandy was a chore, if they will get rid of that feature I wouldn't miss it at all.
