So, apparently companions will still approve and disapprove of decisions in Trespasser. I didn't know that until I saw a video where the entire party (besides Cole) disapproved of a romanced Lavellan wanting to save Solas.

Just wanted to see if anyone managed to compile all the approval checks that come up in Trespasser.

I think besides the choices of want you want to do with Solas after dealing with the dragon there's a reaction to what you do with that templar Jerran.

Strangely enough that reaction to female Lavellan wanting to save Solas is the only example I have come across.    I have always let Jerran go and I don't recall anyone showing disapproval; may be they only react if you kill him.     I have been through the DLC with Cassandra, Dorian, Sera, Vivienne from beginning to end and with Cole, Blackwall and Iron Bull for specific parts, so Varric is the only unknown quantity for me.

Different companions advocate killing or releasing the dragon but I don't recollect this being reflected in any approvals/disapprovals if you go against their advice.

Vivienne greatly approves to wanting to kill Solas before Viddasala.

I only remember Dorian giving a slight approval for letting Jeran go.

Perhaps we didn't see approval because we reached the maximum?

Did Vivienne hate you in that run?

Bull slightly disapproves if you let him [Jerran] go

Yes, she did.

Yes, she did.

Alright, that probably explains why you were still getting approval and I wasn't.

What really bugged me was how much approvals effected your party interactions in Trespasser. Unless you were a goody goody and had your team all love you they say next to nothing and sometimes like in Varrics and Cullens case, say nothing to you at all when you try to talk to them. I was really disappointed in that.

Cullen doesn't have approval...

Anyway, what's the point of their approvals at that point? It can't change anything.

Cole, Dorian and Varric disapproved of killing Jeran in the Deep Roads. Why should I allow a traitor to run free? He's dead anyway.

Vivienne and Cassandra approved of killing Solas. Neither of them hated my Inquisitor.

IIRC, the only approval that changed was that IB slightly disapproved of letting Jerran go. I had IB, Dorian, and Varric with me and none of them disapproved when I said I was going to try to save Solas.  But yeah, at that point, it didn't much matter.

I don't understand why there were approval changes in Trespasser. What does it even affect?

Yeah, I don't know either. Just so you can get see how your companions react I guess? I'd much rather they tell me what they think, though. I liked Trespasser, but not being able to talk to anyone at the end is just stupid <_< You can't talk to them about their opinions on Solas, and you can't talk to anyone about your arm :(

They disapprove of the Inquisitor wanting to defend Solas after he lied to the Inquisition about everything and put it in jeopardy.

Sounds like something anyone would do.

I wasn't aware the Inquisitor could defend Solas' actions...

I personally thought the Lavellan Romance choice right after the Ataashi was hilarious.  Cole approves, but everyone else in your party thinks you're daft.  Right about then Solas PROBABLY comes across as a bad boyfriend or ex, doesn't he?  If she hadn't lost her arm, bet Sera and Bull would have tossed her in an icy lake...maybe they did anyway? :P

I'm glad that you still had approval.  Just because you'd been friends for years DOESN'T mean they think every choice is a winner.

One thing I notice is you can still see the xx approves notice even if you have max out that companion's approval already. In base game, the xx aproves line doesn't pop up if the approval is max.

I love this change, though it seems useless in trespasser because the companion scene is based on the base game approval and plus, this is nearly the end of the game, but these at least able me to know what is their attitude towards my decisions.

I wish there's approval change in other important decisions of the dlc too, like disband or not, redeem or not. I would like to know how the companions think about it.

I don't know why the approval was put in there it doesn't really affect anything seeing as you can't do anything after that, can't talk to anyone or do anything.

You may not get approval or disapproval from him but if you force him to take lyrium again, he doesn't think to highly of you.

And the point I was making is that approvals going in to trespasser have an effect on the team during trespasser. If you weren't on good terms with them going in, they have nothing to say to you at the palace. That bugs me. It was lazy on their part, I'd like some snarky or downright rude comments to a jerk inquisitor, but nothing?

I thought Iron Bull slightly disapproving letting the templar go was foreshadowing his eventual betrayal (he's unhappy with letting a traitor to the qun live)

No one approved or disapproved when I said even if solas is an agent of fen I won't let the Vidda have him since he is one of us. Now watching the romance option does seem a pretty er "daft" thing to say imo

The romance option sounds like the Inquisitor is in denial.

She states she's trying to save him from the Vidassala.

Even though he jeopardised her leadership by making her look like an agent of Fen'Harel and the credibility of the Inquisition as an independent institution.

If she doesn't disapprove of his actions, then she's blind to his scandalising omissions and is showing to be an inept leader, placing her personal needs (her love for Solas) above her duty to the thousands of lives who trust her command and willingly work for the Inquisition.
