i got ME2 and decided to reinstall ME1 so i could import a save game since im not really liking how the galaxy turned out with the default setup in ME2. i have the steam version of ME1 but the dvd version of ME2. ive completed a save on ME1 but for some reason ME2 isnt detecting it when i tell it to import a save fromt he first one. ive tried reinstalling both games, didnt work. ive tried manually moving the save files to the me2 directory, didnt work. both games are under the bioware folder in my documents, im on a windows 7 64bit machine and no problems running either game maxed out on everything. is the dvd version just not compatable with the steam version? it shouldnt matter since the saves from both games go to the bioware folder in documents. and if thats the case where can i put the saves so that ME2 will find them?

If it's not an ending game save, then it probably won't work.

it is an ending save, i played through really quick just to get all the major plot points, i can restart the character in me1 but cant import to me2

Did you run the ME2 configuration utility (this is it's own utility and not one that is in game) and direct it to your ME1 save folder?
