Really? I'm not disbelieving you, I've just almost never heard anyone's opinions on these things. Though, I'm always surprised when I learn about what women who are attracted to men think in that regard, since it's hard for me to fathom in the first place.

Oh yes. LOL! Really, Really. I've spoken to many women across many games and at some point conversations veer towards sex. Most of whom expressed the desire to be with a man who was experienced. Some would disagree and prefer a man who was not based on religion or just simply because a man who is a virgin is easier to train. And uh..things spoken after and in-between are not for these forums. :P

Huh. Well, like I said, I've never really talked to anyone about anything like that, so it's all surprising. Wait, easier to... train? Actually nope, I'm leaving that one alone

Eh I saw Cullen as a virgin (or close enough to it) but that was mostly his personality mixed with him being young + traumatized + can't talk about the blooming rose with a straight face

His "I didn't leave anyone behind" dialogue didn't help.

But it is pretty open so *shrug*

But I like corrupting templar boys with my mage gals. It's fun <3

Cullen may be a virgin or just a very discreet templar who knew how to hide his (scarce) affair(s).

Remember the Ferelden Circle: even a Chantry sister carried on an affair with a blood mage and neither the Knight-Commander, nor the First Enchanter knew anything about it.

I think most of what is stated about him by a certain group of die hard fans as though it were an absolute fact is just fan theory and speculation from codexes (and other stuff from the game) that somehow became canonical in their heads.

It's more likely his fans want to shove some theory down your throats. Careful or you guys will start to sound like them. And for now, you are the coolest Cullen fans ever.  <3 Keep rockin' guys!

Of course anything that is not explicitly stated as fact from the Devs will always be speculation, no Cullen fan I have see has ever stated anything as fact especially whether he is a virgin or not.

For someone who stormed in here and was quick to call this thread trash, you seemed to have changed your tune. Looks like you just want to bash a certain group of Cullen fans and that is NOT cool.

In my current romance play through, this photographic moment was ruined by two Inquisition guards standing behind and in front of my lady Inquisitor and Cullen. Then idiot Scout Jim wanders in with Leliana's report...   <_<  -_-

Aww, that sucks! That actually happened to me one of the times  (replayed the scene to figure out which dialogue I liked the best). Always make a save before talking to Cullen! And other people, but mostly Cullen :P

Spoiler

On a similar note, my Inquisitor and Cullen decided to be inside each other on one mission, and not in a good way.

My 2 cents on this topic~ I find the IQ romance scene enough evidence for me to believe him to be somewhat sexually experienced  :P  This is me generalizing for sure, but generally I  think for someone to be confident and bravado enough to shove your lady friend on to your work desk and get busy, you'd have to have some sexual history to speak of. I normally wouldn't expect a move like that to come from someone who's a total stranger to hooking up and is shy about it.

He's clearly noob to proper courtship/romance, which is not a surprise due to his lifestyle. But as a good looking gentleman in his 30s, surely over the years he's spent atleast a modicum of time in a tavern where he could have easily been presented w/ an opportunity or two (or many) to "release stress" and develop the physical prowess he has come to show off in the office scene lol. IMO it's a wee bit too unrealistic for him to be a virgin at this point in his life, but thats just me.

Actually if anything, it implies the Inquisitor had experience as opposed to Cullen. She's the one with the confident bravado, not him. She went in that room with one thing on her mind, judging from the dialogue options. They all make hints about going to bed or taking a break after a long day. She was the one who was inching closer and closer to the desk and eventually sat on it, basically not giving Cullen any option but to get on the desk with her. At least, that's how I remember it.

Also, don't forget that Cullen had unique trauma in his life, specifically about love (most likely). That's the main reason I don't think he was with anyone, at least not after the Fereldan Circle.

Anyone knows if that is true?

In the epilogue of Dragon age Origin:

Circle given independence

“The young templar Cullen never quite recovered from his ordeal. After months of attempting to convince his superiors that the tower was still a danger, he finally snapped and killed three apprentices before being stopped by his fellow templars. Eventually, Cullen escaped from prison, a madman and a threat to any mage he encountered.”

We can agree to disagree, because the way I saw it, it was Cullen who inched towards her, and proceeded to shove the stuff off his desk and crawl on top of her. If IQ strictly wanted to be the hunter, I would imagine it happening differently (i.e. her cornering him to his desk, or pulling him into her while leaning on the desk, instead of playing innocent and letting herself be cornered by him)

If those nightmares traumatized him about sex, enough to push him to total abstinence, then it really should've been addressed, that's really serious. That's like a video game allowing you to have a physical romance with a character who was a traumatized rape victim and it doesn't come up at all. Same thing if it traumatized him about love too (b/c love and sex aren't exclusive to each other) then that should have been mentioned, too. What the game does address in regards to his experience, is his trust of mages and belief in the Templar Order's purpose. In my eyes there's evidence in the game for me to see him as a dork helpless in courtship, but also someone who is not a stranger to being sexually forward and fluent (like that first kiss!)

I can totally understand it as legitimate headcanon to think that Kinloch left him apprehensive about love and/or sex, enough to be a virgin. I can totally imagine it being drawn out in a well written fan fiction or something like that, but from the game itself that just isn't how I see it.

The DA:O epilogue slides are non-canon, so no. And I'd treat any of the newer slides with suspicion at least until the next game.

My impression was that she was playing innocent and letting herself get cornered by him, since she was the one initiating things in that scene. *shrug* Cullen didn't just start off with the intention of shoving everything off his desk, either. A bottle fell, then he paused, and realized there was something more important than work, then shoved it all off and focused only on her, finally.

Anyway, yeah. Different interpretations. It's probably a good thing there can be different ones =]

SMH.. I was lucky the guard wasn't there when Cullen flew in to kiss my lady Inquisitor after telling off Scout Jim. That last picture is kinda scary...

Oh, even though the scout was following Cullen's orders, Cullen meeting with the Inquisitor overrides that. Maybe Leliana was trying to get juicy details.. That's why she sent Jim with the report  <_<  -_-

I wouldn't say best part of the romance (in my opinion), but it's certainly awesome and one of the best parts of the entire game, honestly

For me, I like the think their first time was at the lake, the desk was just a celebration on them declaring their feelings and making their romance official and exclusive. By that time he is comfortable intimately but now taking a bold step in throwing caution to the wind and getting a little passionate.

But... where by the lake? In the shack that can't even close up with no beds? :P Though apparently buildings that aren't closed aren't a problem for them anyway...

lol. I like to imagine him as a boy with his brother building a cubby house. It's still there, just not in great shape. It suits their need  :P heck how about right there on the jetty, it's dark and they are alone lol

The jetty, yes. So romantic. So... comfortable! :P

Edit: I just saw your signature. I like it! And the amusing faces from that scene, of course.

The main thing that makes me think their first time "together" actually was on the desk, was their chat the morning after. If they'd spent the night together before that conversation would not happen at that point, as it would have already been said and done with. She would never have to ask about that nightmare, and he would have to say that he always has them. Yes he says always, not sometimes. It seems implied that it's also the first time they say "I love you", only because of the added "you know that, right?" after it.

Yeah, that's why that was my impression too. In addition, it's the moment where they commit, and in Bioware games, that means sex. For the first time between the characters. Regardless of if it should work like that, it does. Also, I don't think I'd ever have sex with someone before telling them I loved them, but hey... they'll probably never make a perfect romance. For me, anyway :)

On topic: I've noticed Ellis voiced many characters / npc's / ambient stuff in almost half the games I've played and acted in a few of the movies in my cupboard. It's scary, almost. He's very accomplished in both acting and voice acting professions.

In DA stuff in the past and current so far, if it's shown, the first kiss has been the romance starter, and first night the commitment/locked in. DAI was the first time they had 2 romances where the first night is never mentioned or shown and the writers specifically said (for both) that it was left up to the player. I agree it seemed a little late for the I love you speech but, better late then never? he takes until post-game to tell a romanced Inquisitor that she looks lovely.
