I dont know what I have done, but all of a sudden Dorian becomes invisible when he is not engaged in combat. Is there a spell, weapon, armor that could be causing this? Perhaps a sigil?

It's a ring or an amulet that you get in the exalted plains. Check his inventory.

Ring of Doubt. If any character wearing it gets stuck invisible after a battle when there is no aggro, just Quick Save/Quick Load. It clears all stuck status effects.

That sounds less like "stuck" and more like "time to wander into a high-level area and loot some chests." It's probably intended to work that way. IIRC the ring lists no duration cap on the stealth, and that usually means permastealth.

Flank Attack + Skirmisher has done this since always. The new Leaping Shot upgrade does it too. It's nice to see Ring of Doubt gives mages a way of accessing permastealth.

Permastealth makes playing mages pretty cheesy though like look there is a tough boss! Let's barrier and zap it with the most powerful spell I have. Oh no now it hit me and my barrier is gone and still on cool down what do I do (cause its a ranged boss like a dd or arcane horror)? No problem! Just fade step and bunny hop, now you're back in stealth and ready to kick some a again.

Permastealth rogues have a similar rotation, especially if they're assassins. Open a can of whoopass, stealth until their permastealth cools down, switch to permastealth via Leaping Shot or Flank Attack, and wait for their can of whoopass to cool down.

It's not really cheesy, because you can do a lot more DPS without doing the permastealth dance. It's pretty much only there to loot guarded areas or solo orange- or red-level mooks (by slowly chipping away at them).

And you can't permastealth-dance bosses, because most of them have Perceptive.

No active effect has duration outside of aggro status. Try casting barrier on yourself out of aggro and see how long it lasts. (CORRECTION) Coming out of aggro cancels all active effects, or at least is supposed to. On the other hand, you can enter Stealth out of aggro. So what does that mean for Ring of Doubt? I still think it is a bug, since Stealth is supposed to cancel coming out of aggro also, but as you said, not all bugs are necessarily without compensation. ;)

I noticed that any character with Ring of Doubt stuck in invisibility outside of aggro stops following my character. They just stand there and do nothing until the "NPC stuck" radius is exceeded, then they teleport back to the group ... and then stand there and do nothing again.

That's if you are lucky. I entered aggro with Vivienne (the one with the ring) at the extreme end of the radius, but not quite over it. She was like two rooms away from where we were fighting, being absolutely useless.

Stealth has always lasted outside of combat, since launch. The stealth granted by Stealth doesn't, because the ability explicitly puts an 8s duration on the stealth. The assassin focus ability also has a duration. But any other application of stealth, such as Flank Attack+Skirmisher, has no duration cap and lasts until broken.

And that's how it should be, because stealth has out-of-combat uses too, primarily scouting (which is why the party moves differently when one of them is stealthed - to enable scouting without drawing attention). In DA:O, the basic Stealth ability granted permastealth. In DA2, Stealth started having a duration. DA:I's approach is an interesting compromise, with options for both temporary stealth and permastealth.

You're right about Stealth, I tried it out. Completing a battle doesn't clear it unless you do an attack or ability.

But there is still the stand there and do nothing bug that seems to be associated with stealth out of aggro, since both Sera (no Ring of Doubt) and Vivienne (with Ring of Doubt) suffer from it.
