I really enjoyed all three games for different aspects. What I'd like from Inquisition kept would be:
CC--best so far without mods. The only complaints I had were with hair. 1) the texture of some of the colors of hair looked more like straw or plastic. 2) Lack of hairstyle variety. 13 different cuts of 'bald' is not variety. Of note that I did like was the ability to move around different features to achieve a truly unique look with my inquisitors. And eye colors. And on a related note, the Black Emporium with Xenon (voiced by Nicholas Boulton) for those moments when you realized in certain lights, your Qunari's hot pink blush, and weird white eye make up was not the look you were going for!
Yes, that really happened to me. Somehow I skipped over them without realizing what I'd done, and it bugged the hell out of me in the prologue.
Race options. I'd love to keep all 4, with 2 voice choices shared between both genders. I'd play DA4 if all I got to play was a nug, though, so that's not a hard and fast one for me. No, Bioware I really don't want to play a nug next game, I was just making a point, please no nug PC's.
Gathering mats and crafting my own gear--which leads to each Inquisitor having their own unique style. On a secondary note, having each companion have his/her own style to the same gear was a really cool feature, ensuring that no one had cookie cutter appearance. And if something didn't appeal, you just changed things around, unlike in DA2 where you were stuck with one look for each companion. And not having those crafting things take up inventory space that could be spent on other stuff.
Golden Nug which eliminated the need for me to go around to every place each game trying to find where X schematic was stashed, allowing me to enjoy subsequent games without the urge to explore every nook and cranny each time I made a new inquisitor.
Storage for those things you may or may not need later, but are loathe to just toss away. Because...pack rat here.
Variable wardrobe for Skyhold/keep/base camp etc. Thank the Maker, something besides those awful leather pjs. Barring that, just the option to go around in your armor (or any outfit you like the appearance of) in your home base.
For gameplay: I really enjoyed
Open world 'nuff said.
Balanced combat system--yes I complained about lack of healing, but if you don't need it, you don't really miss it. And I had alternatives to my healing mage gameplay, enough I enjoyed myself immensely, and mages are still my favorite class to play, only now bow rogues have been added to that.
Adding an advisory council to the companion list of important helping NPCs was a really nifty idea.
As was wartable missions and judgements, adding to the richness of the Inquisitor experience. More than just another character slogging through the game, I felt my Inquisitor really was leading them. The Warden is a solitary character with 8 companions fighting against impossible odds. Though they expanded on that in DAA and made the character more interactive with the fiefdom, it kind of went against lore that he becomes "Arl of Amaranthine". Hawke was a relative unknown and no leader of any consequence even after he became Champion. One complaint I do have about the wartable missions was the silliness of some of them in length. 15-20 hours. Really Bioware?
And something I thought was well done story-wise:
Death impacting in the game. From the people grieving for Divine Justinia, and more so to see Cass and Leliana reacting realistically to her loss was a real improvement over the previous two installments of the game. At no point was Justinia's loss diminished or forgotten. Also the loss of NPCs (who may not have had a huge role, but an impactful one with your companions) was handled well, and sensitively.
However, until Trespasser, the potential loss of the entire Lavellen clan on a wartable mission was just stupidly handled. Nothing. No one mentions the slaughter of the player's family. Last night I finally saw a scene where Sera addresses it in Trespasser. (Utube) I wouldn't mind death in games if they are intelligently handled, but all too often you get a freaking party (Origins-WC/Redeemer endings), or worse, no mention is made at all. DA2 handled it a little better though.
That's pretty much my 'wish list' and commentary on what they got right and what they could use some improvement on.
