So, something that has recently come to my mind have been the oceans of the many various planets in the ME universe. I was wondering if a possible underwater colony, city hub, or facility would fit well in the ME universe and how it would fit. Perhaps, an aquatic-like alien race? Also, if such a hub were to exist how would the community feel about possible underwater missions?

My inspiration for this thread came from three sources:

Bioshock 1-2

SOMA

And Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Now, I thought this movie was terrible but the concept of the Gungan base was interesting.

How do you guys feel about this? Do you think it would fit or would it be too far fetched and/or nonsensical?

Far-fetched, not really. I thought that before ME3 was released we might have the opportunity to visit Kahje, and I almost envisioned it to be similar to Ahto City on Manaan.

I'm just not sure how interesting it would be, and if it would fit in at this time with Andromeda as it sounds like we're trying to establish colonies. Definitely would be nice to have the variation.

Me thinks someone watched Dr. Who last night :).
I was a fan of BioShock2,
And I think it adds a layer of underlying fear to the games environment. (Btw I think that's a good thing! And it worked really well in BioShock's case.)
(What if you get flushed-out or the base floods, drowning etc)
I think if it's done well, as with anything, it could be really cool.

They did a good job on Leviathan, I'd like that.

Hah, I was wondering when SOMA would start getting referenced around here :D and I am saying this with no negative connotation whatsoever; everything should be taking more cues from SOMA, though I am saying that in my capacity as a semi-rabid Frictional fan :D

Anyways, I would be all for aquatic environments/underwater missions. As above posters have mentioned, Leviathan was an interesting take on the whole "water" theme, would love to see more.

I actually don't know much about DR. Who. Never watched. But, yeah, I agree about Bioshock. That aspect of being so deep in the ocean with the unknown. Even more so if it was on an unexplored alien planet. Beautiful but terrifying.

Yeah, I just finished SOMA and the facilities, robots, music, and other aspects really reminded me of Mass Effect.

I think an underwater type city of some aquatic race or a facility of some Corporation could be interesting if it fits and makes sense with the setting and story.

@Sojourner
That city is beautiful. Would definitely like to see somthing similar to it

Manaan...

As long as there is no horrendously slow diving suit sections, by all means do it.

Seems like it would be pretty neat to see an underwater hub.

I wouldn't mind seeing something similar to Manaan or the Leviathan DLC again. I also finished SOMA semi-recently and enjoyed it, so yeah, exploration of an  underwater city/base can be an interesting setting (and I've always liked BioShock, heh).

It would be cool with different colonys types desert, water, jungle but if there is water bases make swimming optional or not at all since some games have bad swimming gameplay like W3.

I would like a water colony like Kamino.

Yeah, like Leviathan. It'd be neat.

I'm sure we're getting all this different settings for planets. A cloudy one like Bespin in Star Wars or Columbia in Bioshock would be awesome.
