Superior opinion incoming :3

All these other inferior thread with their inane demands for the ultimate sequel to DAI offend me :T so I must make my own.

1. Return of multiple player races.

2. Return of origins. Really need to start our characters in different spots from each other.

3. Better and more hairstyles in the CC.

4. Return of a Dalish elf protagonist. (Alongside the choice of a city elf one, so you can't lambaste me for that one  )

5. The option to be more evil/ruthless/self-serving. The Inquisitor was too much of a canon goody-two-shoes.

6. Get rid of ENTIRELY the race-gated armor. That was bullshit -___-

7. Make mounts more useful. Way too slow, got around faster just walking.

8. Irish voice actor and actress for the protag.

9. Return of blood-magic.

10. More "casual" romances than DAI. There was only that one Orlesian lady and you couldn't even see her face :/

11. Cities and villages.

12. Large scale battles and sieges.

......that is all  :D

I can get behind most of those, with some quibbles.

I'd love number 2, but it's likely unfeasible in terms of resources.  The one thing all these threads about what should be in the next game always miss is the fact that resources are a balancing act of disk-space and work hours.  Add Origins - each a playable story that excludes all other possible characters - and that cuts down on other resource-intensive things like environments, main quest lines, and major characters.  Then you have people complaining that the game is too short because they're are four to six main quests that you can only experience one of in a single playthrough.

6 - race-gated armour was actually a neat concession to realism, and one I kind of liked.  Way back in Dungeons & Dragons, they came up with the idea that magic armour at least magical extends or shrinks to fit the wearer.  That seems unlikely with the way Dragon Age does magic armour.  Besides, the best schematics in every category weren't race-gated.

10 - I have no use for this, but others might.  I found them a little annoying in Mass Effect 2, because sometimes you just started a conversation with Kellie Sanders and a few others and instantly they were trying to get you into bed :P

Again, they do eat resources, especially if there's a kissing or more intimate scene.  It is surprisingly resource-intensive to animate those scenes, and actually becomes much worse if there's a height distance between partners (which is why there's only ever been one qunari and never a dwarf - mid-sized partners are easiest to program because of the smallest range of height differences).

Sieges and big cities do eat resources too, but I'd be willing to make that sacrifice.  What I want is a big, urban combat environment.  I'm sure Minrathous and Qarinus in Tevinter are at least as nasty as Kirkwall after dark, since it's Tevinter where all those blood mages and slavers were coming from :P

So your perfect DA:4 is just a list of criteria that it must fulfill...? So DA:4 doesn't require a story then...

I can understand your points, and offer my own  :D

2. Undoubtedly it would take resources, but Origins was able to do it and it still offered alot of stuff including origins for each player selection. Its understandable that they weren't in DAI, BioWare having to adjust to a new engine and all, but by now it shouldn't be that much of a big deal.

6. Realism to me would be "Oh, that Dwarvish armor looks pretty cool, but I'm a Qunari and it doesn't fit me. I'll go make a set that does!" lol

10. Those kind of romances aren't really what I meant. More like Gheyna and the Dwarven woman you could have a child with in Origins. Don't even need to animate anything as those just faded to black anyway.

Where would they be from? All accents (with a handful of exceptions) are actually established in lore.

Don't get me wrong, I think it'd be cool if, say, the Executors from across the sea show up and they have Australian accents. But two VAs on the premise of "cuz I waaaaaaant it" is frivolous to the point of asking for the PC to actually be a telepathic Mabari Hound.

Better, but it needs a bit more substance, a bit more "meat".

Throw in a paragraph or two, don't be lazy!

If we are going to Tevinter, doing a Dalish origin may have to require the protagonist being captured by slavers. The Dalish avoid Tevinter.

I guess they could just say there was another special Dalish group that became interested with Tevinter recently for some reason.

My only request is to get a voice actress that doesn't have such a deep voice for a dwarf female.  It fits qunari female but not dwarf....think Dagna and Harding.  Both do not have deep deep voices yet our PC dwarf sounds like she had throat surgery.

1. Return of multiple player races is a must for me, so I definitely hope that this continues in DA4

2. Return of origins-style openings would be nice, but who knows if they will consider this?

3. Better and more hairstyles in the CC is a MUST also; this was the worst aspect of the CC for Inquisition. A dozen short hair options only? What idiot made that decision??

4. Return of a Dalish elf protagonist. Um, this is covered in your number 1??

5. The option to be evil/ruthless/self-serving. Yes, this was absent for Inquisition; so they tailgunned gamer choice …. again?

6. Get ENTIRELY rid of race-gated armor. Oh hell yes, that was bullshit!!

7. Make mounts more useful? Should they pull equipment carts around for you or something? Mounts would have made a better impact if Bioware had done some cut scenes showing you interacting with your beloved steed of choice. Even the Lone Ranger gave Silver an apple very now and then??

8. Irish voice actor and actress for the protag. This is something that I could get behind.

9. Return of blood-magic. Another head-scratching choice removed from Inquisition??

10. More "casual" romances than DAI. This, plus brothels and female desire demons too!!

11. Cities and villages. Since Val Royeaux, Halamshiral, Crestwood, and Haven failed to cut it for you.

12. Large scale battles and sieges. Sorry to hear that you missed the whole Adamant thing and did you skip out on the epic horde fights against the darkspawn and Sha-Brytol featured during The Descent too? Those battles were the epitome of awesome.
