"Dispatch for you" or "Have news, ser."
Me: GO AWAY!!!
* By extention, the fact that only I or war table advisers have to go around collecting materials. Are we paying the camp employees to just stand around doing nothing while I run around collecting materials for them while fighting demons, meeting officials, and saving the world? Gather your own bloody resources!

Personally, I choose to RP those moments at the War Table as a trickle down order that ends up in the arms of some poor recruit, and he goes around the immediate safely guarded area to gather an armful of materials. As for ore, the Inq is not mining these resources himself, but is marking the various nodes to be mined by said recruits.
However, using a shop and purchasing materials is a viable option; know of those that prefer this method.

Varric is the Paragon of Manliness due to his epic chesthair.
Naturally, the game forces us to keep it completely covered unless you want him to go around in tier 1 armour for the entire game.
Wait, what? All of the generic armor types keep it uncovered, and some of them are amazing.

Also-- mispronunciation of Cassandra. I deal with this IRL all the time ;_____; it's CassONDra not CassANDRa. Only half of the characters get it right.
Not necessarily wrong. Different languages pronounce vowels differently - in many places in the world, this name is pronounced CassAndra. And if the devs chose that pronounciation for this character, it should be considered the "right" one here.

That's just it though, we shouldn't have to go all the way back to Haven/Skyhold to ask one of our advisers (each of whom are dealing with much bigger issues) to send some trickle down order to recruits to ask them to gather raw materials, nor have to buy from a shop because if the Inquisitor, Chief Diplomat, Spymaster, or Commander didn't personally gather or command it, it wouldn't get done.
I just find it off that Inquisition forces (soldiers and spies) set up camps and seemingly scout the area, yet you go to camp and find them literally standing around doing nothing, then they ask the Inquisitor for basic materials to help them operate. Not trying to sound arrogant, but it's like, "No, that's not my job. I'm closing rifts, meeting with potential allies, tracking down Venatori and Red Templars. You can walk thirty yards from camp and gather your own ore and herbs."

Personally, I prefer to use all three methods: delegate, purchase, and personally gather materials. This helps insure that I have plenty of what may be desired at high levels. Unfortunately, this does not cover Fade Touched materials, though the new Trials can reward the Player with these occasionally.
As for who does what, look to the example of Sutherland; a indv that requires training and a break to become something more useful. The Inq can choose to have them gather materials, but sometimes like in life: Min wage; Min work and results. And this leads to, "If you want something done right...."

Cassondra? That sounds awful.
Thanks. That's my name.
Also, Cassandra's accent sounds very, very Slavic. She pronounces it CassON(AWN)dra not CassAND(ahhhn)dra I am Ukrainian-American, and this is the way we pronounce it as well.
Regardless of different dialects, when learning someone's name it is polite to pronounce it as they do-- since it is their name. /shrug. I thought we were light heartedly talking about *minor* pet-peeves. Nevermind.

If it makes you feel better, I will answer the phone here at my job and say my name Andrea like this "And-ree-uh" and people will immediately say hi "On-dray-uh". It's the worst. THE WORST. So I feel your pain. I mean.. I JUST SAID IT!

I have no issue whether it's pronounced CassONDRA or CassANDRA, but whichever way the devs want it to be pronounced, it should be consistent. Goes back to another pet peeve of mine that was mentioned very early: inconsistent pronounciations.

Wonder if any of this could be explained by varied locations of origin: Orlais, Ferelden, Navarre, Free Marches, etc; much like locales can alter pronunciations in RL.

Look, it's my pet peeve, all right? This is the personal pet peeve thread.
And I'm not talking about them gathering materials for me for my own personal use; I'll go gather my own materials to make my own potions, armor, and weapons, thankyouverymuch. I'm talking about them making requisition requests at camp; asking me to gather materials to turn in to them to do their jobs. They want iron ore to build prisoner cages, Ferelden locks to make locks for said cages, herbs for antidotes, etc. And I'm thinking, "Well, I'm running around saving the world and you're sitting around at camp doing nothing; why don't you gather your own materials to do your own job?"
Again, my pet peeve is twofold: I hate getting ambushed by that requisition officer every time I enter camp ("Dispatch for you" or "Have news, ser," and the one I personally loath: "Nothing to report, ser." THEN WHY DID YOU STOP ME TO TELL ME?!), and by extension I kind of hate the concept of requisition requests from recruits at since what are we paying these soldiers and spies people for if they need the Inquisitor to go around collecting materials not thirty feet from camp for them?

It could if they did it more...consistently. I guess you can headcanon it, but if they'd wanted to explain it that way, they'd have done better to make it unmistakably clear. As it is, it just seems random.

I ask because I have not noticed, but was wondering if the differences were between the characters from varied areas.

I don't think the Requisitions would bother me nearly as much if my own people were more competent. I keep delegating people to find me materials and they come back with a handful of summer stone and no throne accessories.

That is the point I was making earlier. A lone soldier eventually getting an order to harvest plants, looks around the area and picks a few in the guarded location cause outside that area is death. Kinda like a non-smoking recruit being ordered to police cigarette butts; perhaps not the motivated veteran the Inquisitor had envisioned....

I find the fact that you have this big castle and cannot interact with it an immersion breaker except in cut scenes.
Even in your own quarters you can't sit anywhere. You have a nice garden but you can't use the benches lol. May
seem silly but it bothers me. ![]()

The fact that spirit warrior and spirit healer weren't among the available specializations. With the fade being torn open it seemed like those two could have had interesting implications. And the fact that there isn't a rogue equivalent to them.
For that matter, the fact that warriors didn't get a single new specialization, and the fact that mages got nothing but new specializations.
Also the fact that despite having two games of with templar hunters and archers, templar isn't an available rogue specialization for reasons.

Pretty much everyone else's race related dialogue is not romance specific. So, moar reactivity would be nice.

Oooh, I thought of another one: it bothers me that Sera is the only LI who really comments on the PC's race. Dwarves, qunari, elves, and humans all get their own little unique comments from her in a romance. She obviously thinks qunari are hot, she coos over dwarf ladies and how squeezy cute they are, has her hangups about a relationship with another elf and teases the human Inquisitor about being noble.
Pretty much everyone else's race related dialogue is not romance specific. So, moar reactivity would be nice.
I think it would have been interesting for that to be focused on a bit. Especially Blackwall's... almost considered to be racist tone with a non-human.

Quite a few of my pet peeves have been mentioned already, but here's one that hasn't:
I miss having my PC flirted with. It bothered me that she was the one that always had to initiate flirting. I am totally biased, but my Inquisitor is a perfect 10 dang it! Will somebody please acknowledge that?! ![]()
Maybe when she becomes Inquisitor people are too intimidated to flirt with her? I suppose that would make sense...

Varric is and that's just as a friend. If you ask him to be your friend and then ask him what you are to him, he doesn't even see you a person until much later. In Trespasser he's the sweetest though and really sees you as a friend finally.
