Templar helmets you craft/find don't have feathers in them like npc Templars.

And Warden helmets you craft that have wings on them when the NPC helmets don't.

You can even play online and set your preferences to save locally only and ignore cloud saves. That's what I do.

That would be perfect! Any idea where I go to set that preference though? I can't find anything that sounds like a "Game Saves only in local folder" setting. In the Options menu the only thing close to that is the Account section and it only has three selections:

1. Share Usage Data that just tells EA about your gameplay

2. Auto-login at game start

3. Upload info to the DA Keep

None of those affect the save location preference.

Remember, you only need to be online when you are actively synchronizing your collectibles with the Golden Nug. There is nothing to prevent your from connecting, synchronizing your collectibles, and then immediately going offline.

It seems like if you've reached the 250-save limit, it might be an issue. I'm not wanting to test it, but I'm assuming that if I've exceeded it offline and then login, it will get the usual prompt of "your Cloud saves aren't in sync with your local folder" and then give the usual two ways to handle it, but in this case, if I go with syncing the Cloud to the local folder, it seems like it will "fix" (delete) some "excess" saves in order to sync no more than 250 saves to the Cloud. Maybe it'll just upload the latest 250 and leave the local folder alone, but "syncing" doesn't sound so benign in that way. If I can fix it to do as you say- never try to upload to Cloud ever- then I won't have to worry about it, but otherwise I'll be doing just the sort of archiving that you described.

Yes, I've lost conversation lines due to this. The mechanic of having us auto-start a discussion with an NPC due entirely to proximity is- well, not so good- but it'd be more acceptable if it would also lock in the NPC to stay put once it begins... Aw, I could complain indefinitely until one would hardly recognize I actually like the game a lot. :D

Yes, I hate that conversations auto-start as well, especially with NPCs like Charter and Knight-Captain Rylen when I don't really have anything to say to them.

This may be a PC-specific thing, but if you're within range, you can hit "interact" while the conversation is underway. This will force the NPC to remain stationary for the duration of the conversation... but it also means that the conversation camera will become fixed, and you'll probably wind up looking at your Inquisitor's left shoulderblade and part of some ambient keg.

And, as a related annoyance, it's probably good that you can't aggro NPCs simply by using a combat move in their presence. I have lost count of the number of conversations I've accidentally aborted with an ill-timed Winter's Grasp.

Hmm, I never knew this; I'll have to try it!

I'm away from my computer at the moment, but I seem to remember setting it up in Origin... which you might or might not have if you're using the Playstation Network or its XBox equivalent. If I have given misinformation, I apologize. I'm not familiar with the way other platforms handle save games.

The next part will work regardless of what platform you use, thank goodness. If you're backing up your saves elsewhere on your system, you won't need to keep them in your game directory anymore, so you can go ahead and delete them. That will keep you below the 250 save limit, as the only saves in your game directory will be recent ones. So you can synch away.

But you will want to back up your saves, always, whenever you move saves between your archive folder and your active game folder. If you are backing everything up, the worst thing that will happen is that you'll have to copy/paste some files a second time, but it's easy to get confused and delete the wrong thing. Since you will have backups, you won't lose anything permanently, but it can be alarming when you first realize that you deleted something you wanted to keep.

When it comes to the Golden Nug, you can only add to your collectible "archive," never delete, and it won't touch your saves. In other words, if you have schematics A, B, and C in your collectible library and if your character finds schematic D, you won't overwrite anything if you synchronize using the Golden Nug.

Idk if this has been mentioned but my FemCadash/Adaar being shortened or stretched in order to kiss Blackwall and also in his "love scene". I mean really! they couldn't have grabbed a stool (like IB did) or bent down a bit

and

the mounts not running all that fast, only thing there good for is helping you avoid random fights.

^ The height thing happens slightly even in some of the scenes with a human male Inquisitor and Dorian, who are the exact same height. The cine people have a certain way they want to scene to look and that, unfortunately, meant some weird shenanigans re: height.

Off topic, but continuing this, are there any warrior-door replacements?  I'd love to run with an all mage party.

Not that I've found.  Finding out the shield bash one was a god(maker?)send for In Hushed Whispers as I wanted to run with Cass, Solas and my mage Lavellan.

I suppose you could try Stonefist?  By the time I've unlocked that normally all the base game walls are broken.  And you'd still need a rogue for masterwork locks.

I get frustrated when I think I know what a armor schematic looks like but turns out to be really different, as in ugly. I always forget what the armors look like between characters. Not a problem for you new gen and PC gamers with your damn shiny nug. 360 still gotta buy all the good stuff :(

Too many of my favorite armor/weapon designs, from a aesthetics stand point, have stats that I don't like/don't work into my preferred build, or are too low in the tier.

Anything I like will inevitably be X defense % or sunder or crit chance or stagger. I don't want those stats. I want straight attribute increases.

Yeah, it would be nice if you could see what they look like on the characters before buying, rather than buy, run to a crafting table, see it's ugly as heck, and reload to before you buy. I've done that a few times. Also reloaded after discovering that I already had a schematic just as good if not better. <_<

Another annoyance: game load times. Why does it take nine years to start the game, load a new area, get a cut scene to trigger, etc. etc.? Really hope this is better for the next game.

I see plenty talking about the walking/sitting animations, and while I did find them odd and a bit exaggerated, I also noticed they weren't exclusive to any gender.

Spoiler

That's this exact same animation:

Spoiler

I'm sure this has probably been brought up, but combat war cries...when you accidentally kill a fox or a nug.

Seriously.

My Inquisitor crying out, "DIE!" when some poor fox runs through the area.

What kind of sadistic witch are you, woman???

On a similar note, do you know how to tell if there are spiders and darkspawn fighting in a nearby cave at the Storm Coast?

Blackwall suddenly asks "Is everyone alright?" out of nowhere, and loot shows up beneath your feet. Blackwall's approval may even rise too, if any darkspawn died somewhere.

The animation of gathering / harvesting / picking up stuff. It annoys me in a way that cannot quite be articulated. It looks stupid to me. It takes away about 5 seconds of my time that I will never get back which I normally should not care about but I do. I really do care.

I suggest this mod.

Regarding armor design and crafting -- why the heck couldn't they put an armor tinting table in Haven?  I mean, really now.  Some of us like to do all of the other areas before moving on to Skyhold.

Being able to preview schematics in the recipe inventory without going to a crafting station would be nice.

I completely empathize, BUT you have to consider what Haven is: a former village for religious pilgrims that is now bursting at the seams as a make-shift war camp. A blacksmith does make sense for that, but something purely cosmetic doesn't.

The thing that angered me the most in this game, that caused much screaming of obscenities at my screen, is in fact the most trivial thing ever...

and I'm still mad just thinking about it...

It's those imprisoned towns folk in Emprise Du Lion.

"Get us out of here!"

"They're killing us!"

Over and Over and OVER. All while you are trying to fight the Red Templars that surround them. Will you just SHUT.UP. Give a girl a moment to clear the area and THEN and ONLY THEN will we see about getting you out. Even when you are picking the damn locks they're still asking you to get them out.

WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE I'M DOING HERE? HAVING A DANCE?

If I wasn't such a completionist I would have left them all in those cages.

I'm usually pretty chill. I can let most things slide. Like how Dorian makes out with my Elven Inquisitors chest during their sex scene. Or how cutscenes with my Qunari sometimes only include his torso. Or how many hours I had my team stand around so I could trigger the IB/Dorian relationship through banter.

But I can't forgive the villagers of Sahrnia.

And I will not forget.

...suddenly I want a mod that gives Loghain approval every time you kill anyone in the Emerald Graves/Exalted Plains. No matter who, no matter how far, when Orlesians die somewhere out there, Loghain Greatly Approves.

The prisoners in "Not Everyone Is Free" are even worse with the "Not that way!" Fortunately, you can dash over, scoop up the key, and unlock the cell before they have time to say it more than twice. I'd suggest doing it while combat is still underway, but Sister Costeau can one-shot you on higher difficulties, so you want to get her out of the way before you deal with the prisoners.

But yeah, the prisoners in Rocky Rescue are annoying. I may or may not have muted the sound and looted everything in sight before freeing them once or twice. Passive-aggressive, yes, but also satisfying.

This.. made me giggle more than it should have.  Also, I went to the Frostbacks and did JoH and got the IB/Dorian banters in very quick succession.  If you have the DLC, take them there and see if it triggers for you.  I wasn't even trying for them to have a thing but all of a sudden they had a thing!

At least that has the good excuse of 'we had to account for every race' (and, in Bull's case, every gender).  Solas punching his arm through Lavellan during their post WEAWH scene doesn't have that...

Guuuuys.

Female Dalish Inquisitor, sitting in the throne with one foot on her knee making over the top pointing/jabbing gestures while judging. Oh mah gawd it's like she's Lysa's creepy son from AGoT. "Make him FLY mommy!!!!"

Also-- mispronunciation of Cassandra. I deal with this IRL all the time ;_____; it's CassONDra not CassANDRa. Only half of the characters get it right.

Varric is the Paragon of Manliness due to his epic chesthair.

Naturally, the game forces us to keep it completely covered unless you want him to go around in tier 1 armour for the entire game.
