OK, I'll admit this is a very peculiar question.

But the possibility of a spirit/demon-human hybrid is interesting. In previous Bioware games (based on D&D rules) there were playable races which were planetouched. Aasimar were part celestial; Tieflings were part demons or devils.

So now Dragon Age is becoming more about spirits, it might be interesting to be able to play from the perspective of a partial spirit or demon. Not a pure one - that would be impossible to implement for various reasons. But a half-spirit would allow some interesting specialist abilities, as well as a relevant and intriguing viewpoint. There'd also be lots of potential for prejudice, fear, growth and all the other things that make a character (and a role-play) interesting.

But it only works if spirits and demons can somehow...breed with humans, elves etc. Hence my question. Is there anything in the lore about that kind of...um...interaction?

I do know Human Cole who is still a spirit but losing his powers is in a romance and will most likely be with her that way. He might be a first. And the Avaar lady in JOH has a spirit in her she loves that's male (if I recall) and that love can be interpreted differently. Solas has also been hinted at having fun with spirits. I can't actually recall any born from such interactions though. I do wonder about that Desire Demon and the Templar though.

Only Desire demons and only in the fade- although fan fiction for the DAverse has some interesting theories on whether or not Fade sex is real sex and if children can be conceived that way- canon lore does not.

There is a theory that says that what differentiates Ancient Elves from modern Dalish and City Elves is that they shared their bodies with spirits- like Flemythal has shared the bodies of their daughters for 2000 years- and like Justice shared Anders body. Another theory is that they are like Cole- spirits who manifested physical forms for themselves- in that case- a spirits "genes" as it were (though they would be more in terms of magical power and ability to connect to the Fade)can and are passed down in modern elves or elf blooded mages

It would be an interesting perspective. We could start as as in between and depending on our actions and how others perceive us we can become more demonic or spiritual. Sounds pretty cool.

If one of the parents was possessed during the moment of conception the spirit could easily enter the freshly created vessel and live as a mortal. Not all possessed people are hideous monsters, they can look like anyone else, though such a plan would require an extremely powerful and intelligent spirit.

Spirits and demons don't have physical bodies until they enter the mortal world and possess one, create one or fail to do either and become a shade.

If a spirit possesses a body they have it's DNA.

If a spirit creates a body it probably has DNA. The current Cole is, physically speaking, basically a very slightly altered clone of the original Cole. Whether the bodies spirits normally create have DNA is more questionable. Rage demons make themselves a body of fire. Fire does not have DNA. So it likely varies from demon to demon.
