A sad revelation about Bull? (Trespasser spoilers)

On my most recent playthrough, I didn't complete Iron Bull's personal quest (it never triggered). So I started Trespasser with the Charger's getting him a birthday present, and finished Trespasser with him dead via betrayal.

So now I wonder... if we kill him, are we killing him on his birthday? Because damn that's depressing.

Necessary disclaimer: I'm not criticising the consequences of Bull's personal quest. This is just a sad thing I was thinking about.

This would have been his fate on my second game.  I forgot to do his personal quest in that one.  Didn't talk to him much tbh.

If I'd kept my second game.  Having limited save slots caused me to delete my first, second and third games.

Does anyone know if you refuse his offer to join (and he never goes to Haven/Skyhold) does he just not show up in Trespasser?  In which case, maybe he gets to enjoy his birthday?

As far as know if you reject anyone in DAI they just disappear as if they never have existed at all.

Except for Vivienne, that b***h shows up in epilogue regardless

Yeah I'm sure the only person who shows up if you reject them is Dorian. Least he still showed up in mine -_-

She's like a very bad rash you cannot seem to get rid of even if you use fire and acid.

Cole appears... kinda.

You see him disappear all over the Winter Palace, but never allows you to communicate with him.

Are you sure that's not the Harlequins or whatever they're called?

First time i encountered one i swear my heart skipped a bit. Never noticed the bugger and then that loud POOF and the purple smoke.
I was about to scream WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!!!

Well, I stand corrected!

How does one catch them? You unlock Brand if you do...

Sneak up behind them I heard. They disappeared everytime I saw them though.

Ugh, those harlequins. I could not sneak up on them for the life of me. The only way I caught them was with a dead run starting from quite a long distance away.

Re: Iron Bull...yeah, that is depressing.  :(

You do need to sneak up on the harlequins, but this is easier to do in certain spots than others. You can come back later and wait till one of them spawns in an easy location.

The time frame of Trespasser is kind of screwy, I'd say there's probably supposed to be set over more than one day.

Certainly if you attend the opera with Josephine then a night passes.  Also, it seems like a good amount of time would be needed for Leliana to get all these reports of Gaatlok barrels in various palaces.

I'd think a week, if not a month. Often in real life, religious meetings of this size and magnitude would take even years.

So u just arrive there say in a week before. Just in case... and suddenly you go to opera, marry someone, attend a spa, spend day throwing cakes at people.

Wow a week's gone! How nice that we have arrived earlier!

Think of it as a birthday present :)  It's the thought that counts.

Representation of the passage of time was terrible all through Inquisition. I felt like I founded the Inquisition on a Tuesday, and had the whole thing wrapped up by Sunday. It ended up kind of detracting from the gravitas of the whole thing.

I got that impression as well. Trespasser is supposed to be a council meeting that takes place over several days, they just do a bad job at expessing that (same with the base game where a long time is supposed to pass but it still feels that the inquisitor becomes super powerful in just a few days).

Origins and awakening had the same problem.  Only DA2 didn't, but that was because the events of each act were only supposed to be a week or two (maybe three) between three year time jumps.

Its a problem when constructing a story with so many nonlinear elements and side content.

For me Origins otherwise lasted for years. Especially when u come into the deep roads. When i finally got away it felt like I spent at least a year only in Orzammar.

When I first saw the purple smoke I saw these birds flying away as well so I thought it was Morrigan.
