You can only play as a female protagonist until you beat the game. Then you can play as a male but all of your available romance options are gay, until you beat the game again, upon which point one straight romance becomes available for your third playthrough.

 

Which will be Cassandra, and we all know what she looks like ;-)

To make up for the lack of dwarf romances in previous BioWare games, all six romance options in DA4 must be dwarves! Gay dwarf, lesbian dwarf, bi dwarf, pan dwarf, straight dwarves ... just dwarves. The non-romanceable compaions are also dwarves, for symmetry. And there's no race selection.

The Inquisitor should come back but as some sort of Golem creature of doom and one of their hands should be magical allowing them to open up rifts to the fade sucking in all of their opponents.

Calpernia is actually queen Anora and all of her lines are spoken like the battle for denerim speech. _{^{I actually prefer over alistair shhhhh}}
