Hi, first time poster with a question about a possible bug on the PS4.

I've been playing through Inquisition with a female elf Inquisitor and I finished the main game and am into the DLC now. But halfway through Jaws of Hakkon, I suddenly noticed that my Inquisitor looks different all of a sudden. Her face is a lot puffier, and her upper teeth seem to be glitching through her lips. She definitely does not look like how I designed her and how she went through the entirety of the main quest. I tried to download the Black Emporium and use the mirror to change her appearance, but it doesn't appear to have any actual effects; the face I create does NOT look like the face she ends up with after I save the changes, in fact, it appears to be the same face she had before I used the mirror, like it didn't do anything.

The only thing I can think of that might have happened is when I had my Lavellan romance Solas; as you know at the completion of his romance arc he offers to remove Lavellan's vallaslin, to which I agreed. Nearest I can tell is having Solas do that somehow altered my Inquisitor's face to something different. I've tried to research this, but I haven't seen anyone else on the internet complain of having this issue, so I'm not certain if it's actually a bug and her face was altered after Solas removed the vallaslin, or if she always looked that way and removing it simply brings that into sharper attention. But I swear she used to look different, and my attempts to fix her appearance don't seem to work. Is this actually a bug? If so, can it be fixed?

I've got no help for you. I noticed that my male qunari's face would glitch/distort during armor crafting, but it's fine during the rest of the game.

Weird. I guess Solas made it so no other man would want her.

I've had this happen with my male elf. His lips were clipping through each other. (On the PS4 btw)

I noticed after installing the latest DLC and patch that my dwarf looked slightly different too. Her face was larger than before.. sadly, my CC skills are shite and she didn't look all that bad so I didn't bother altering her appearance in the Black Emporium.

I installed Trespasser not too long ago too. Maybe that's what did it? Or the patch. The vallaslin removal could be entirely incidental.

Here, I took some pictures of my Inquisitor, because there's definitely been a change.

Here's how she looks when I try to use the Black Emporium's mirror to alter her appearance. This is how I originally set her up (minus the vallaslin that Solas removed) and what she spent the majority of the game looking like:

Sabetha1.jpg

And this is a screenshot I took during the events of The Descent:

Sabetha2.jpg

They definitely look different, right? And it doesn't seem like I can actually alter her face back to the way it was, it always seems to come out looking like the second version, like the mirror doesn't actually do anything. If I use one of the default faces, it seems to work, but trying to alter her original face back does not. I'd like to try and do something about this before I start Trespasser, because it's really bugging me.

Bolded: That is your answer. You get so used to seeing the face with the Vallaslin that removing it brings out details in the face you may not have noticed were there. Took me awhile to get used to how one of my elves looked without her vallaslin.

Just bumping to let people know I edited my earlier post to show before and after pictures of my Inquisitor. I think it's pretty clear she looks different.

Anyway, I tried building a new face from the ground up in the Black Emporium that looks the same rather than edit her existing face back; I'm going to see if that fixes the problem.

I think it's a glitch I'm on pc , and thanksfully I've never had to live through this horror , but sometimes when I look at hats in the armor crafting , the face of my inqui gets hit violently with the ugly stick.

It's the same exact face , the mouth going low , the nose looking like a funny triangle etc...

I never had this in the character creator but the face is the same when it glitched so it has to be related.

Her eyes became smaller, her cheekbones larger, her face shorter, her chin much more narrow and pointy, and her mouth lower. It's so strange and random, like someone messed with her rather than polygons tweaking out due to a glitch.

I have made two playthroughts with solavellan and never got any such bugs after removing Valasslin.

Well, only that 1 of my elfes looked very groom and angrt all of a sudden, her eyebrows moved closer to eyes. But thats probably because she had Mythal's Valasslin on her forehead which covered eyebrows.

The only thing I know is that there is a very srupid light in the game which somehow shines between the lips of your character and it looks like theeth glitching through lips. I tried to solve the issue by making lips darker but it didnt help.

I'm not sure this is caused by tattoo removal. A similar thing happened to my male human inquisitor, just after the last patch. On mine, the nose radically changed - I made a topic about it at the time.

I just finished the Solas romance/removal quest and the same happened to me! I think this is new as no one complained about it prior....

It made me sad.... she looks sad...

At some point the graphics changed with my game on PC too.    I am not sure if it is something a patch did or the result of my graphics engine optimising the game but weird glitches started to appear after that.   When strolling through the characters screens the faces of the companions would suddenly start to distort.   This is particularly noticeable with Cole and Blackwall.   Then on many of the cut scenes Dorian's moustache suddenly rises up his face so it looks like it is coming out of his nose.   Everyone now looks a bit broader and squatter.      The only positive to this is that it made my elf look better to my mind, now he is slightly fuller in the face and torso.     Anyway this happened long before Trespasser, in fact I think it was before any of the DLC, but I've no idea what caused it.    It also stretched out my screen slightly so it was hard to see the war table quests on the far left hand side.

However, you could try going into the graphics window.   I did this the first time and I seem to recall I reset it to default, after which my elf returned to their former appearance.   Then I decided I preferred the newer look so next time it altered (again after a patch and optimisation by my game engine) I left it like that and it has been that way ever since.

I think cutscenes affect the mouth height sometimes. Maybe it's part of their facial expression program. I keep moving my characters' mouths higher and higher after I see them in cutscenes because I swear I didn't make them that low in the editor.

Weird, I never had this problem :o I feel like the glitches in DA:I are so random :pinched:

In the crafting screen, my elf (wearing the elven cowl) keeps getting a nose job. It's always gone when I return to the game, however.

Armor of the Dragon Hunter from Jaws of Hakkon I think.

Armor of the Dragon Hunter from Jaws of Hakkon I think.

It is indeed. It's a darn good piece of mage armour you get near the end of the DLC.

You know...hrm. I did craft a set of Descent helms for my party not too long into Jaws of Hakkon. My wife had already completed those DLCs on my account with her character and I'd gotten the crafting designs for the helms when I used the Golden Nug statue at Skyhold. It was after I crafted one of the Descent helmets for her and stuck it on her that I realized her appearance changed.

I should add that even though I tried remaking her face from scratch with the Black Emporium before starting Trespasser, which seemed to temporarily fix the problem, her new face started glitching again during the Deep Roads segment; teeth clipping through the upper lips and her eyes started to bug out too. Took me right out of the final scene of the DLC, unfortunately. Of course, she was still wearing the Descent helmet, so maybe that had something to do with it.

I think my face change happened after equipping a crafted Descent helmet too. That may well be the cause of the problem.

Wow, that is a really unfortunate bug   Wish I knew what caused it.

Actually, it'll be for whatever class you are. You can get schematics for it from the war table mission after the DLC that will allow you to make a version for each class.
