Sorry if someone already posted this, but I found this picture at Skyhold.

Since we know now that Skyhold was Solas' castle, I wonder if it's him in the picture.

At the left, I think it's clear it's Andraste.

Sorry if this is impertinent, I'm kind of new to the world of Dragon Age's theories.

It could be Maferath or Havard the Aegis.

Solas was asleep since creating the Veil. He says so in Trespasser, and since the rest of his conversation is him rewriting all known elven history and telling you he's going to destroy the world the odds of him lying about that are remote.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if Solas woke up periodically, following this pattern:

  • Erect the Veil, gets tired fall asleep
  • Wake up for a couple of years a couple of centuries later, realize that the Elvhen civilization was reduced to a mere shadow of its former self, decides to supercharge his orb to tear down the Veil
  • Wake up for a couple of years a couple of centuries later, see the Elves in bondage, become more determined to tear down the Veil, check on his orb: not charged enough
  • Wake up for a couple of years a couple of centuries later, Elves still in bondage, and now believe the corrupt Evanuris where benevolent creator deities, the Veil needs to go down, check on his orb: still not charged enough
  • Wake up for a couple of years a couple of centuries later, see the world being destroyed by the first Blight: definitely will tear down the Veil, check on his orb: That stuff sure takes its sweet time to charge.
  • Wake up for a couple of years a couple of centuries later, learn that the Elves freed by Andraste and Shartan built a new country which was destroyed by Orlais: won't regret the bigoted soulless shems who'll burn when the veil goes down, check on his orb: nope, not charged enough yet
  • Wake up for a couple of years a couple of centuries later, Ancient Elves going extinct, Modern Elves divided between city dwellers who forgot virtually everything and nomadic Dalish who hate his guts, reject his guidance while pretending that their half-remembered legends and superstitions are the most elvish thing ever. Check on his orb, Again... And it's Still not charged enough.
  • Wake up for good a couple of centuries later, Orb charged, but body diminished by eons of sleep punctuated by increasingly depressing short waking periods: can't unlock it, decides to use Corypheus as a pawn.

Hard to say if its an elf because of the hood. But if it is, then its Shartan no doubt.

And maybe its worth mentioning Solas tarot card is almost a copy of Shartan's depictions in the chantry windows. Not sure what it means, but its too similar to be a coincidence.

Wherein Solas learns that USB charging always takes longer than plugging the transformer into the wall.  :D

It wasn't just the orb. Solas himself was weakened.
