Ouch.

Oh. No. Wait.

Can anyone recommend some sort of mic. For PC.

Nothing too extravagant.

Preferably the behind ear type?

Or behind the neck?

Not keen on wearing the full monty.

Don't find earphones comfortable.

It's just for hurling abuse back saying hi back to people occasionally.

Get a yeti, its $100 and looks a bit phallic.

Also sounds excellent and has USB (digital) audio so you don't get that staticy crap that analog cables have. Also has mic feedback so you can hear yourself even with headphones on.

I bought a pair of those behind the ear ones.  Over time, they really started to get uncomfortable.  Over more time, they really started to hurt.  Plus if you put your head back they will jar themselves right off.  I'll never buy a pair of those again.

Full headsets don't always have to be 70's style, some of them are just as light as the behind the ear ones.

I text chat instead since none of my mics have ever worked.

I thought this was great sense of humour and had me going, but now... I'm not so sure...

I would like to know where you get your turtle beaches. Mine's in pieces & being held together by whatever I can find around the apartment. Due to cheap plastic breaking everywhere.

Other then that, I had to raise the padding so it doesn't rest against my small ears. Won't like to know how a Pinocchio deals with this.

And some other dumb design choices, like, why if I put it on mute I always have to hear this loud beeping reminder that it's on mute?

So who hires these designers and were they hired straight out of McDonalds? ... I'll have a happy meal, hold the Turtle Beach.

I have a yeti. It looks like a really fat penis. But it has excellent sound input quality (my friends on Skype can't tell if im talking in a video or on the phone when I have them see a video with my voice). It has digital audio going to it over USB so you can plug headphones into the mic. Traditional headphones use a jack going all the way to the motherboard and inside a PC is really noisy staticwise. So i olig it into usb and no static at all. Also doing so make the input to the mic go back to the headphones at a lower level so you can hear how loud you are even with headphones on.

And it looks like a big penis.

^ But is it popular with your friends? Do they think it's quality is sound?

You also haven't said anything about how comfortable it is? Comfort is pretty important. Pretty strange how many headsets get this wrong. I mean, I play with mine all day.

I had a pair of 400$ Sennheiser's that sounded great but were damned uncomfortable.

Gave em to my girlfriend and switched em out for 90$ Sennheiser Earbuds. Sound is almost as good, but the earbuds are by far the most comfortable things I've had in mah earballs.

The yeti is a standing mic. I don't want to hear you breathing. Act like a gentleman.

I've been called a dick head many a time so that would seem appropriate.

I'll have to do a bit more looking it seems.

Thanks for the advice BSN :)

Congratulations on having the courage to squeeze $5 in pennies on a device to finally speak to people you've played with for over 5 years.  You should of told us this earlier so that this community could start having a bake sale to donate to the "Andiana Jones microphone project".

Ladies and gentleman, for less than a cup of Starbucks coffee a day, you can help feed Andy's mass effect addiction.  Please donate.  Please spare him the embarassment of a starting a thread to reveal his shame.
