It looks like they fixed the problem where the rank up sound would play every time you closed the menu or loaded a game once you got enough influence after reaching Rank 20.

The level up "click" sound still plays once you get enough XP after reaching the cap, but it's always been far less annoying.

This is a problem with the FB3 engine, not the game code.

No, it's not.

BioWare introduced this problem in a patch, and they could fix it if they truly wanted.

Final patch for DA2 came about a year following the game's release, so possibly we'll see a few more patches.

Unlikely. The last patch for DA2 came out when it did because support for DA2 ended prematurely (but they still had fixes and changes in the pipe that they wanted to release as a final update).

The freezing seems worse during the Descent DLC. I even had them dying on their feet stuck and when I tried to revive them, they just slid around. Accidentally pushed one off the cliff trying to revive them.

Regarding the freeze bug, I think someone said somewhere else that you can also get around it by bringing up that radial menu and issuing the DISENGAGE command. Haven't tried it myself yet but at least you shouldn't need to then exit the tactical cam in order to do this (unlike jumping)......!

I have switched over to the companions and used an ability that was mapped and that unfroze it. Then switched back to Inky and killed things.

They fixed that, but they still can't give my Inquisitor the right voice? *sigh*

This makes me a sad and kind of angry Banshee.

Hey, I'll take what I can get at this point. And killing that obnoxious sound is definitely a good thing in my book.

Yeah, I'm with you. I'll take all the fixes I can get, but we all have our priorities.

Anyone have any idea whether this fixes that irritating bug with a character occasionally just freezing up during combat? Tks in advance.....

Wasn't specifically mentioned, so I'm not optimistic.

I hope they will fix that at some point soon though. It is very annoying, and happens quite frequently.

That was me.

It certainly works with KBM. Disengage unfreezes the characters.

Source? The problem only started after a certain patch, so obviously Bioware inadvertently caused it and can fix it.

The problem has existed since the initial release, but manifested when BioWare attempted to apply an "auto-attack" feature that was lacking.   It seems that there are a number of potential "stoppers" in the FB3 engine that can cause an engaged NPC to freeze; can't move (stubble/rubble/obstacle in path), current enemy eliminated with no other attacking, current enemy eliminated with no other in range, etc.

If/when DICE addresses these issues we'll get a patch.  Until then, all we can do is complain.

The game has always had auto-attack, and the issue was caused by a later patch (and not even the patch where they added the auto-attack command for exploration view). (Also, BioWare is using their own code for pathfinding and combat.)

Yeah, that was my impression too. DICE has nothing to do with this anymore; Bioware has modified Frostbite 3.

Thanks, I will give this a try rather than "jump".

From now on, I think I always hit "disengage" in tactical cam mode before doing the 2nd part of a cross-class combo.

The freezing bug has made me miss countless combos.

But we're talking about the problem with the un-controlled characters freezing.  "Tac-Cam mode" or not is irrelevant.  Auto attack for those NPCs has always been limited to just "if the designated leader assigns a target", or "if being attacked".  So if the NPC isn't being  attacked, and isn't given any instructions to do something.  It does nothing.

And that's a whole 'nother problem from "path-finding", (which I agree is abysmal compared to DAO.  But again, that's a FB3 issue.)

In any case, and regardless of responsibility for the defect, the OP's question was "Is this fixed in Patch 11?"  And the answer, sadly, is "No."

I have no idea what you're trying to say. This has nothing to do with your assertion that the auto-attack command that BioWare added in Patch 5 (which was something whose core functionality always existed in the game) somehow broke something fundamental in Frostbite in Patch 7 that BioWare is now helpless to remedy.

Inquisition's limited walk meshes also have nothing to do with Frostbite.

(I'll also point out that "un-controlled characters" are entirely reliant upon pathfinding for any sort of movement.)

No, auto-attack has existed in the game since launch (all combat in tactical view uses auto-attack). It was added as an optional keyboard command for exploration view with Patch 5. (Additionally, AI control is effectively auto-attack, as it handles pathfinding and attacking automatically.)

Yes, the AI (such as it is) handles this.  Mostly by relying on the FB3 defaults, adjusted by the very limited "Tactics" settings.

I really miss the robust (and moddable) AI of the Eclipse/Lycium engine used in DAO/DA2.

Game logic is done entirely in Lua, and pathfinding and core combat are hard-coded (using BioWare's own custom code). They're not relying on whatever limited systems Frostbite provides.

I have a fever right now and can't get out if bed to check, but does anyone know if they fixed the bug on the Calpernia armor in trespasser on male characters? The one where it changes the size of your arms and legs significantly?

I don't think I've ever done a cross-class combo on purpose.

500MB? Better than the damn gigbyte size of previous patches .

I think my favorite part about this patch is "improved stability." I'm always having trouble with crashes.

*opens Inquisition after update*

*gets 6 crashes to desktop in less than 2 hours, possibly a new personal record*

Well so much for that.

Well, played through Trespasser on my XBOne and it didn't crash once and combat was much smoother during the final boss fights. Thank goodness!

I don't know if this patch related, but since yesterday my chars are frozen. Three times in the last battle...

I kinda enjoyed the first hours, now I start to lose interest. Those issues are really killing any feeling for the game.

Edit: I had this freezing before, but not that much until the new patch. I know jumping breaks the freeze but...how about no.

I'd wish they patched that sooner, but better late then never I'd suppose.
