Screw Hawke. Save the most badass character in Dragon Age! (Though my HoF wouldn't sacrifice her life in the first place just cuz the Quizzy asked, she'd be like "Bye bitches!"  )

The Inquisitor doesn't ask, though. Way they say the person's name it's almost like they're about to try and talk them out of it.

This is one of the few instances in the game where it very much is not the Player Character making a choice, it's the player.

Quizzy lays down the law in the fade, she very much so says who stays there

"Hawke, sacrifice your useless-ass for the team"

I'd leave Hawke behind without a second thought and not even feel bad about it.

The Warden ended a blight & slew an Arch Demon. Their very presence would weaken Nightmare's resolve & power. It wouldn't be a choice. The Warden would stay behind on their own to end Nightmare. Nightmare would either die or loose it's grip on it's nature, becoming a simpler spirit in either case. Then the Warden would wander the Fade seeking answers to mysteries of the blight & Darkspawn among the dreams & memories there.

If I had to pick between my Warden(s) and Hawke(s), I'd still sacrifice Hawke every single time. I'm way more attached to the Warden (as well as the Orlesian Warden Commander) than I am Hawke so the decision of who should remain in the Fade would still be extremely easy. Besides, sacrificing Hawke instead of the Warden ally (HoF or not) is more fitting. After all, if s/he hadn't released Corypheus in the first place, things would be a lot different.

All of my Inquisitors would save the HoF over Hawke mainly because s/he's the more powerful ally. It also wouldn't be in their best interests to sacrifice my canon Warden, F!Surana, since she's a walking little powerhouse who'd overcome Nightmare and then go all Flemythal on them for leaving her to die.

The Warden is an hero and will save the team, even if it means death. Hawke is an idiot and doesn't deserve such an honor.

It depends on which Warden/Hawke. For my canon, I'd pick the Warden. She managed to cheat death by doing the Dark Ritual, but the Calling is catching up with her anyway. Besides, I always feel like a Warden should be the one to sort this mess. Hawke might be the one who unwittingly released Corypheus, but the Wardens sealed him there in the first place and forced Malcolm to help, so it still comes back to them.

In a more meta sense, my Surana has no family to speak of, her friends are scattered or dead. Her closest friend was Wynne, after all. The only one who would be truly hurt by it is Zevran. But he would lose her soon to the Calling anyway. Hawke has her whole life ahead of her. She still has her brother, Isabela, Gamlen, Charade, Aveline, Varric, Merrill. The sacrifice would hit so much harder. Especially since she wasn't signed up for a lifetime of sacrifice (unlike the Warden), she just seems to keep stumbling into it.

I'd never leave Hawke behind, if he had gotten a reasonable appearance in the continued plot. Yet as it is, a heroic death; or at least MIA doing something definite, is better than randomly taking a trip up north with no result.

I don't really care about the Warden him/herself. Never really found a way to roleplay a character I liked more than their companions.

My canon warden did the ultimate sacrifice but I'd still leave her even if she hadn't as she lives of borrowed time anyways. And I can't let Hawke die because of what it would do to Fenris and Varric. Fenris looses the love of his life and about the only good thing to happen to him and Varric looses his best friend...no I could never do that to them. And I love my sarcastic Hawke.

Just a thought...

What if it was between Hawke and Carver/Bethany if he/she becomes Grey Warden?

If I let the queen of Ferelden die in the fade, my inquisitor would be in a very difficult position with Ferelden.

Hof has ascended to godhood cannot be trapped, Hof rides the Griffon the sky the limit.

Hof goes on a killing rampage in the fade and crashes the fade sun-like into the black city. KABOOM! Total annihilation.

Warden's too badass you shake their hand. Shazaam nuclear explosion.

I would probably always save my Warden. Not every playthrough as that would be boring and I do have some wardens I have less attachment to, but most of the time Hawke would have to stay behind.

Warden. Because of Alistair. That relationship is far more meaningful than any Hawke has in DA2.

I would let HoF die without blinking an eye. My Hawke doesn't deserve to die like this, after all bad things that happened to her in Kirkwall. And I couldn't leave Anders alone.  HoF will die soon anyway, because of the Calling.

Laters, Hawke. While I adored the voice acting, I heartily didn't care about the story and characters in DA2. It was a mess anyway. It would be a mercy.

The Warden would probably spoil the drama anyway by being like "Killing that sh*t, brb."

I would left the Warden, because he'll beat the **** out of that demon, and then he leaves through a plot device.

I don't think the Inquisitor would be able to choose that one. If they picked Hawke, then Beth/Carver would probably try to sacrifice themselves instead. If they picked Beth/Carver, Hawke's feelings would depend on the player... but I don't think it'd make sense for any Hawke to leave their siblings fate to some random person.

Easier. Hero of Ferelden, since he would slay the Nightmare and emerge unscathed.

Also, for me it would always come down to a male Warden or a female Hawke. It's always the man's responsibility to make the sacrifice. Stroud, Alistair, Loghain, the Hero; all of them males for me (aside from one or two female Wardens I haven't played through Origins in any serious manner). And my official Hawke is always female.

If I ever make a male Hawke then he'll always be the one to die, because he's a highly disposable scrub.

Inquisitor: Well, we need to decide which one of you two stays behind.

Warden: What about you, coward!!??

Hawke: Do you want us to do what!!!!???

As the camera zooms out, you can see the Inquisitor standing alone in front of that huge monster while weeping and scratching his head, as the HoF and the Champion of Kirkwall calmly and slowly walk their way out of the fade, both with a big grin on their faces.

If I could choose which Hawke it was, I'd use my "everyone you love is dead" Hawke and leave them behind easily... but if I was forced to choose between my canon heroes, ehhh I'd have to leave my Warden on the basis that their time is short anyway. Sorry Alistair.

If I'm choosing between Marian Hawke and Hillary Amell, I'm choosing Hawke. And I'm okay with choosing Hawke.  Hills is awesome, don't get me wrong, but jeez, give poor Hawke a break.  That girl has had an overly hard life.  Blight destroys their home. shortly after Bethany dies by being crushed by an ogre, then her brother gets the taint, then her mom gets dissected and her head gets sewn on some other person's body.  I'mma let Hawke apostate it up with Anders and have a minute of happiness.
