Really ? Not discussing your point, but it's surprisingly not as obvious as it seems for a lot of people; the matter of procreation has a history of being seen through a very limited scope, especially in fiction.
Our current society has the means to completely separate sex from reproduction, yet in both fantasy with ridiculous magical shenanigans, as well as sci-fi with tremendous technological advancements, reproduction will always be about a penis in a vagina.
Sounds ridiculous to me, but it's sadly what it is, and it's the root of this topic and a good chunk of its replies.
