Could it be considered a little selfish to want homosexual romances in ME:A?

You only need to be aware of Miranda Lawson to make that painfully obvious.

Really ? Not discussing your point, but it's surprisingly not as obvious as it seems for a lot of people; the matter of procreation has a history of being seen through a very limited scope, especially in fiction.

Our current society has the means to completely separate sex from reproduction, yet in both fantasy with ridiculous magical shenanigans, as well as sci-fi with tremendous technological advancements, reproduction will always be about a penis in a vagina.

Sounds ridiculous to me, but it's sadly what it is, and it's the root of this topic and a good chunk of its replies.

That's why I'm a little baffled that this is even a question. As you mentioned, we can and do manage reproduction without sex now. People are having kids in a non traditional way in our own time. Why would it even be an issue in ME universe?

As a matter of fact, depending upon the size of the gene pool on the arc, it's possible that relying solely on a traditional method of reproduction might be hugely impractical. They'd need to carefully control population growth, accounting for finite resources as well as optimal genetics. Very probably, they'll want to leave as little to chance as they can.

Even if they had to rely on traditional reproduction there's a lot more work involved in raising healthy children than just having heterosexual sex.

Pregnancy takes nine months, a child isn't really capable of any significant work until - I don't know - ten? If you stack a space love boat full of nubile, heterosexual couples and tell them to get at it half of the population will be pregnant in the first year, and in the second year a third of the population will be babies and a second third will probably be getting pregnant again. That's not stable population growth.

It seems to me if you ship the same same range of people as you'd find in a basic community you'll be starting humanity's second chance off with the same building blocks it's been using forever rather than trusting to a crazy generational experiment.

We should have gay character who is not LI. Gay should feel same pain straight people feel than they can't romance character they like. Like Avelian in DA2 or Varric. :P

With perplexity, but FemHawke can flirt with Aveline with no success, and M!Hawke can't get with Varric either. With certainty, they already know this pain.

Cloning aside. Frozen sperm and egg can give hundreds of babies that are just as natural as what couples do.

Spoiler

The new ME protagonist (Ryder?) is a clone of Cmdr. Shepard's father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roomate.

Well, I did have to edit a few times, ad a spoiler for a little extra humor, and fix spelling. So, I may of left out cousin in original post.

No, it's not selfish.

That said, it is selfish when you want it to define everything about the game, as some do.

I have no problem with LGBT romances, as long as they're a minority. One or two for either gender is fine.

I don't believe in equality though. I hope to see at least 5 or 6 heterosexual romances for both genders.

I think ME:A will be set far enough in the future where the exact logistics of this issue won't be discussed directly in-game. Perhaps in codex entries, at most. I'm thinking a couple of hundred years after settlement, where re-population has allowed for natural occurrences of non-hetero people.

It's not likely that both genders would have that many options unless a fraction of that group are bisexual. I suspect that our team is going to be a bit smaller in size than the Inquisition group, with only a percentage being available for LI's.

As an heterosexual player, I'm actually looking forward another homosexual exclusive romance like Dorian's. (Male gay quarian anyone? :3)
