Could it be considered a little selfish to want homosexual romances in ME:A?

Asari have those two beat. A single Asari can repopulate her species. Doesn't even need another person.

Yeah, but it'll take those kids eighty years to reach maturity. And as far as we know, she'd only be able to pop out one at a time. At least I never heard of Asari twins.

Sure, you'd need more than one of them. But in terms of speed and quantity, krogan, vorcha, and salarians are the way to go.

Let's just bring Vorcha. Population problem solved.

Don't forget Krogans, because they can get you 1 billion of population impregnating only one female krogan lol

If speed and quantity is the criteria, then I would choose Rachni. Queens don't need a male to reproduce, and can have enough children to have a colony in a matter of days.

Well yeah, but given the context of the story, Rachni may not be a viable option.

Krogan,asari,salarian,vorcha might not be too.

Considering ME:A takes place in completely another galaxy(time --- ???) it is not even sure will some of ol' races come back and who will come back and who not.

This is just our pointless discussion of in case "extinctions" hits up who could repopulate fastest. None of our posts have nothing to do with anything at all....hell I'm yet to find one post in this topic that has to do with something not even topic itself of this thread has anything to do with plot of ME:A so...

Krogan and Asari have been confirmed.

Which annoys me.

I'd much rather have Salarians or Geth or Quarians or even Turians.

The Krogan and Asari were my least favorite ME species, by virtue of just not being that interesting.

That's why I didn't say them first.

However the Rachni being in Andromeda isn't that big of a problem. Just have it be that the Salarians had a Rachni Queen Egg which hatches and the Rachni help out in exchange for a planet that they can sing in peace or something. We know Salarians have done stuff like that in the past and even the present, and the Queen on Noveria wasn't the only egg found on the derelict ship.

There were no asari in the trailer. Mike Gamble confirmed on Twitter that the female humanoid was a human.

I know that they'll be in the game since it is obvious, but I thought maybe they revealed something that gave more info that I didn't know about.

Krogan are my favorite but I've always been very meh on the asari. Would like to see geth and quarians, though.

If they do bring back Quarians and Geth, I hope both show up and not just one or the other.

I doubt very much that the salarians and turians will not be in this game, but the asari are as much the core group of species as those two, and like those two, cannot be wiped out due to Shepard's decisions outside of Refuse. There's no way to exclude them that makes any sense.

Where?

I haven't kept track of dev input for this game, but in one of the preliminary shots, we do see a krogan roaring. I doubt they'd create a model for it on the new engine and not have it in the game.

It should be a given that the council races are all there. There's not a reason in the world why they wouldn't be. The presence of the krogan makes me hopeful that the quarians may show up, but I'm indifferent towards the geth.

From what I briefly recall from trailer I saw at least is there was something like krogan(though it had weird horns like thingy)...so it is perhaps some new race that is something like krogan, or krogan had evolved? idk

For asari I'm sure these are going to be back because they are biggest ME sexsell Mary Sues and I doubt BW will let them die in dark forgotten  :P

Clones. Artificial insemination. Super fertility drugs for the straight couples.

It's Mass Effect. I'm sure some figured out a way to boost the population without resorting to the old method.

As we know from countless 4x space strategy games, we only need food to increase the population of a colony. :P

cloning works only if there are enough resources to spare to maintain the cloning technology. Natural birth comes with the nature of sex and we merely have to sustain the two adults and the children, minus all of the technology. So in an emergency, limited resources situation, non-technologically enabled procreation might be necessary.

the more important thing to remember is that there is varying degrees of genetic modification/therapy in the ME universe. as long as at least a third of humanity is contributing to reproduction then we will be fine...

First no not selfish.

And second if a population is so small that people are worried about gay people. Then there would have way more people to worry about then just gay people not making babies. like infertile people, asexuals, bi and pansexuals in love with the same sex, and people that just refuse to have sex.

Not to mention there wouldn't be enough non straight people in the population to cause worry to being with. And gay couples can have children if they want to by artificial means or finding some one to carry the baby for them. (or naturally if one or both of them is transgender)

So this wouldn't make much sense at all really.

What is it with sci-fi (and to an even greater extent, fantasy but that's not the point here) that can't shake off the perceived principle that procreation is strictly in the natural fashion ?

And ME is a setting with highly advanced gentics (Miranda), so I don't see the begining of a problem.

We're also going to be exploring several different planets and presumably colonizing more than one of them. If our population is large enough that one planet isn't enough, then it isn't a huge issue.

Nothing against homosexual romances or homosexual people, but if you are creating an ark to ensure the survival of certain species just relocating and finding a new home is not enough as you have to ensure the specimens you take are able to procreate and re-populate the species and until the feminist overlords eliminate the need for males by perfecting the science of creating sperm cells from a female donor's stem cells (something that still has not been achieved in the Mass Effect universe due to the infestation of males that seem to worm their way into the setting) homosexual relationships just aren't a viable means for reproduction.

Is this a theme that will ever be explored in the new setting? Perhaps even by including homosexual romances and exploring a theme where the player has to choose between being with somebody they love and sacrificing that love for the good of the colony, with every new frontier new challenges are faced but does the good of the colony come before those you love?

If this forum is any indication, being homosexual is an entirely unselfish thing. I'd be doing the galaxy a favour. ;)

Seriously though.. why does the protagonist have to breed?

Leave that up to the people who aren't soldiers and hired mercenaries and are actually (realistically) able to breed. As most people are straight, it won't matter anyway. The human population will flourish because people like to f*ck like jack rabbits.
