Could it be considered a little selfish to want homosexual romances in ME:A?

Traditionally attractive females? I dunno, whatever it is that helps attract the Witcher's demographic.

That would be nice BUT everyone would complain on the progressive side. The females available to romance in DA:O (Leliana and Morrigan) were both quite attractive, so were the males (I guess?) Alistair and Zevran. And of course The DA:I females were not traditionally attractive and when people voiced complaints, they were told and still are that they are delusional and/or it is solely a matter of opinion rather than straight male majority consensus. So, BW is unlikely to go back to hot Lelianas and Morrigans any time soon but for some reason they kept the Knight in Shining Armour, Cullen, tragically addicted to lyrium, but finds his salvation in his lady love Inquisitor...anyway. I just play Dragon Age for the lore these days, not much else about it interests me.

I think, more importantly, if Bioware is able to keep the gay/bisexual romances and still attain similar levels of sales, they probably don't care whether too many players like/hate the romances. Sure, there's the desire to squeeze out "every last drop" of revenue, but they could also perceive that there wouldn't be substantial return on whatever they replaced the romances with.

You are a caricature.

Straight Male Majority Consensus would be a funny band name, though.

A caricature of what, good sir? I simply stated what most straight men like; young, nubile, neotenous looking, long haired women of appropriate waist to hip ratio (for which the ideal range is from 0.68 to 0.8). I am not saying they have to be in the game, merely that such women are the ones most men like.

Possibly, I mean you could display a traditionally attractive and/or sexual female and give her enough backstory so that the progressive side doesn't get uppity tho. Like Morrigan and Leliana and Isabela.

Anyway, back to my previous question. If we had a traditionally attractive straight female companion available for straight male gamers do you think they would be placated? Or do you think they'd still need to overlook the ultra progressive tumblr feminist style content?

I'm not sure why anyone would have reason to complain about "traditionally attractive" female characters. So long as they're not dressed in silly outfits like Miranda or Samara no one will really care.

Possibly. I personally don't care about romance but think many would appreciate this, in fact I have anecdotally seen many male BW fans say that would be more than enough. Cassandra is a very interesting character and well done, had she looked like a Leliana or Morrigan, it would have been outstanding.

I think they'd still get tripped up by mere acknowledgement.

People complained about people complaining about the lack of traditionally attractive female characters, why would they stop there?

To be fair, a lot of those complaints were punctuated by looky-like-a-man commentary which got kind of frequent and generally by the same people, which got tiresome.

Me too tbqh. From my perspective it isn't so much that they aren't being included anymore it's that anyone else is being included at all. BUT! I do try and give the benefit of the doubt whenever possible. Better for my Faith in Humanity meter that way.

I agree. I consider there to be nothing wrong with people requesting a conventionally attractive character but justifying said request by claiming that the non-conventionally attractive characters resemble men is not only incredibly uncesseary but also a great way to ruin any thread requesting the former and souring future threads.

Top 10 games of 2014

In a surprising turn of events (to some) it was announced a few days ago that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare brought in more sales than Bungie’s massive $500 Million Destiny. Below you’ll find the list of top 10 best-selling games of 2014. Please note: this list does not take into account digital sales:

1. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
2. Madden NFL 15
3. Destiny
4. Grand Theft Auto V
5. Minecraft
6. Super Smash Bros
7. NBA 2K15
8. Watch Dogs
9. FIFA 15
10. Call Of Duty: Ghosts

All games wildly populated by female gamers? I do not play those games and yet one must acknowledge that the top 10 games are primarily played by males.

That's a healthy, normal perspective, but some people are neither of those things. You see, acknowledging and addressing the interests of others is an attack.

I've seen the OP of a thread about how bikini armor is kind of out of place be accused of "shaming and criminalizing male sexuality." Given that the poster who leveled that accusation occupies a rare spot on my ignore list, I know that he wasn't joking.

Off topic, but it boggles the mind that Destiny cost that much. They must've accounted for the hookers and blow brought in when they started writing the story.

Interesting you went straight to the M/F stats and not the average age of gamers now being 31 and rising which I would hope would bring a more mature approach to what constitutes attractive when we're talking about romance-able female characters in games?

What would a 31 year old man find differently attractive to an 18 year old one?

Speaking as the former, I feel I can offer a unique and valuable insight to the topic, so... Cassandra, apparently. Dorian, too. Isabela. Sera. Alistair. A bunch, across the spectrum, honestly. But even then, I think I should exclaim "not all 18 year olds." Some people are able to actually roleplay this stuff. It can be very rewarding.

Some of you guys have a real hard time recognizing that your experience is not the only experience, it seems.

You seriously contend that 'most men' prefer juvenile looking women and if their current 'mate' has the wrong waist to hip ratio they will seek out a younger model of the nubile variety with child like characteristics?  It's certainly not what the men in their thirties who I know are looking for in real life but then of course we are talking about video games so perhaps we all allow our rampant hormones to control our minds when things become digital

No one used the word child-like. What I described are ingrained biological tendencies, not gods ordained destinies. A man needn't cheat simply because his current mate does not have an optimal waist to hip ratio but rather given two females, one with a 0.7 and one with a 0.9, assuming all else is identical, a man would choose the former over the latter.

What if one had green eyes and the other one had blue eyes and the guy reeeaaalllly liked green eyes?

EDIT:

Whoops, nevermind. Saw the 'identical' bit. Yay multitasking.

I do not foresee CDPR ever going down the ultra progressive route that BW has.

Oh, I wouldn't actually bet on that if I were you. There were already some instances of (sparse) gay and even transgender (well transvestite more accurately) content in TW3 as far as I remember. Before you know it they might actually offer a playable female protagonists and maybe somwhere in the future (around 2020) even gay romance. (Okay probably just lesbian romance at first but still.)

And then people will compain about how CDPR sold out by pandering to "the gay agenda", which will be disturbing, pathetic, annoying and kind of funny to watch all at once.

As much as I do disagree with him on every other level, he did say if everything else was completely identical, so your example is inappropriate for making fun of him.

Edit: Oh, sorry you already corrected it
