See, I didn't mind the grossness of Solas's racegating because at least it made sense. It didn't feel out of character for him to have those... attitudes, given his background. Doesn't mean they were nice or that I don't think we should have been able to challenge them, but I got it.

 

That's still gross, though? Just because it makes sense for the character doesn't make it suddenly not gross. I "get" it too, everyone "gets" it. It may be in-character for him, it may make sense story-wise for him, but it's still gross and I personally would rather not see that kind of sht in these games again. There are a lot of interesting romance narratives to be told in the world that don't need to involve... this kind of stuff.

 

Like I said, if gating has to be done because time/resources, fine, just be honest about it. We're all grown ups, we can understand time and resources not being infinite and the game needing to ship right now. But deliberately using race-gating as a narrative point? Gross. No thanks.

 

Anyway "no race-gating" was my one wish for love interests as asked, and I don't wanna derail the thread into unrelated discussions, so that was it from my part.

You are saying this of the same forumites who have stated that they would wait "as long as it takes" if the game was "done right" (by their standards and having everything they want, of course). There are people who have used the "evidence" of certain game files and vague comments made by a former BW employee that Cullen was originally intended to be bi. There are people who decry the amount of female leaders in the Inquisition, and those who bemoan the lack of "attractive" women. There are people that think that the types, amount, and spread of romance options is unfair. On and on and ON.

 

So no, I'm sorry. I don't think "we're all grown ups."

 

 

(This comes across as unnecessarily harsh, and I apologize. But I have seen devs try to explain things over and over on these forums, and elsewhere, and never get anywhere. And now where are we? The devs hardly come here because the players think they know better than the people who actually make the damn games.)

I'd like this too. She's actually the first female LI in the Dragon Age series that I have a real interest in and I do want to play out her romance, but if I'm playing a guy I'm romancing Dorian. I'm not sinking 120+ hours into the game and NOT romancing him with a male character.

For the f/f option, I want to see Harding as an ungated bisexual option so my inevitable sole lady PC playthrough can have a dwarf lady of her own.

 

For the m/m option, also add me in on the gay KISA love train.  I want a male LI who is a strong, capable warrior type who has more of a classic romantic edge to him (versus the casual romance types that almost all of the m/m options have been).  If he's also a dwarf, bonus points.  But I'll be happy with any race for him, frankly (although I'd really rather not an elf, for purely superficial reasons).

 

And, because I know some forum members who really want to see it, a blonde female romance that is either straight or bisexual.

Well, apparently I'm into angsty Tevinter porcupines guys so another one would be awesome.

 

The silent, stoic guy who sometimes looks into the distance with sad eyes.. ugg, gets me everytime.

 

The shy awkward chantry boy (something to defile mwahahah! <cough> sorry <.< ), love those characters.

 

The guys that deflect bad things with jokes, the ones that open themselves for a bit knowing that you could crush them with just a couple of words, yet they are hopeful and if you say something nice it's awesome and if you do crush them is.. horrible and cruel.

 

Yep, I love angst.

 

 

But well, whatever it is I would really love:

 

-Dwarf lover (both female and male please!, and I approve of the epic beard)

 

-Kiss on demand

 

-Hug on demand

 

-"Sleep" on demand.. we had this in Origins with Alistair, we had no animation, but I was happy to send them to play as much as they could before the end of the World happened <<. They also slept >.>..

 

Frankly, as long as they have manly, sexy voices, they could have any personality :3

You know, the rogue promiscuous character is interesting to me because I do not envision my rogues to be like that,, I play them the other way around, they are pretty faithful. I get that mind set more with my warriors, maybe because I think they are big and strong (handsome of course) and could take anything that they wanted? Like walking into the tavern, pointing at some of the girls saying: You, you and you. My room. Now. and if one of his companions looks at him inquisitively he would most likely answer: What, you're also interested? Get to the room.  <--I would never play that way with my rogues.

A proper magister. A blood mage, and preferably a worshiper of the Old Gods. Also, a lesbian/bi woman. I really would have preferred to have one in Inquisition, for the party banter with Vivienne if nothing else, but one in the fourth game will do fine too.

Honestly after DA4 and having Cullen become my Inquizzy's LI (like in, every damn PT ..) I'm not that entirely optimist that BW can create another character that could really get me like the way Cullen did. It was a real surprise

... But then again, after completing ME I've never thought that anyone could trump Kaidan (sorry, Kaid ^^') was proven totally wrong, though The moment Cullen kissed my Lavellan on the battlements.. that's just it. I just KNOW that all my Lavellans will always click the heart option on every convo with him and the former Knight Commander of Kirkwall became my favourite romance of all time.

But hey, I might be pleasantly proven wrong again, so who knows, right?

Anyho~ .. Here are my prefered list:

- someone like Ameridan (just not his end fate XD or just make it avoidable XD)

- someone like Abelas (or maybe just put Abelas there XD with or without his grumpyness. I'll take it)

- someone like Otranto XD (please let Otranto have a twin brother that my next protag can shag in DA4 XD omg, I just trully wrote that)

- someone like Ser Barris (what can I say, I'm a sucker for a KISA)

- someone like Cassandra but a male Dwarf (hehehe, I've been looking too much on Aimo's fan art. Her Cadash romancing Cass are awsome)

I'd like a dwarf romance (any sexual orientation), and a female elf (dalish, slave, city, or ancient) that likes male elves. I don't need specific plot lines or hooks because Bioware has been doing a good job of it on the DA franchise, so I know they will be great.

I wanted to create a Pro (mage) freedom male elf using diplomacy as Inquisition's driving force then I looked at the female elf mage romancing Solas arc. It cannot compare to the depth of its counterpart. The romances I am unrestricted to pursuing are re hashed (already done in other PT) and they do not fit his "elfy" ways. Overall, I just want racial equality like each race having an opportunity to pursue their race.

Note: The sexual orientation doesn't matter, gay or hetro. Like a female elf has access to romance with a male and female elf. They could of thrown male Elves a bone to pursue a male or female elf.

It is high time we had a dwarf romance, whether or not I personally end up romancing said character (which would depend on the character's personality, orientation relative to my character, and how they compare to other LI options).

 

I would really love to see an honorable, good-hearted woman warrior who likes women, whether lesbian or bi doesn't matter to me. In Origins we had no female warrior companions, in Awakening we had a mauve-shirt female warrior companion, in DAII we had a female warrior companion who wasn't romanceable, and in DAI we had a straight female warrior companion. It's been a slow progression, but I would really like to see BioWare take the next step and give us a lady knight who fancies her fellow woman.  Of course, this falls under the "same-sex knight in shining armor" type others have mentioned.

 

Those are the main things we haven't had that I would personally like to see.

Heterosexual male who doesn't have anger issues and isn't jonesing for lyrium. Perhaps it is my character who should have the issues to be resolved for a change. Or something. Just a nice low-maintenance guy who's a massively good tank or damage dealer. (I like having to depend on my guy for my life. It gives the romance a little zest. I was sad that Cullen wasn't a companion in the game. Fighting at his side would have been so sexy.)

 

Or a guy with issues, for those times when you just have to fix someone.

 

Seriously, if the storyline is great I'll be happy.

But there should be a blonde, a brunette and a redhead for the guys this time, just because they felt they were so limited in Inquisition.

First off I would like to say that I agree with riverbanks wholeheartedly about the race-gating issue. Just raises some rather nasty implications with me that hit a little too close to home. For me, at least.

 

Secondly, here's my initial list from the DA4 Party thread;

 

Males;

Straight: An ancient elf mage/arcane warrior. Solas, but a bit more open minded and appreciative of Modern Thedas.

 

Bi: A human fog warrior rogue. Someone more reserved than the boisterous Iron Bull, not so overtly lustful as Bull or Zevran, but still very free and passionate when it comes to matters of love.

 

Gay: A ferelden ash warrior/orth barbarian. I know there's a fair amount of demand for the "gay knight in shining armor" character, but I'm a little burnt out on knights. So I figured more of a gay barbarian as a counter to that. Maybe someone who despite their gruff nature and violent life is really tender at heart.

 

Females;

Straight: A Rivani seer mage. I'd like to see someone who's goodnatured, spiritual, maybe even a little superstitious; this is a side of magic we haven't seen and a side of Rivain we haven't seen.

 

Bi: Tal-vashoth spirit warrior. A woman who's straight tal-vashoth from the jump. I'm thinking former aqun-athlok beresaad, formerly Arvaarad. Can go a lot of ways with this; she left because she doesn't feel there's a conflict between being a fighter and being a woman, or she left because she's a little more sympathetic to mages than the Qun allows(spirit warrior spec tying into that), or more probably a combination of the two. In any event, big, strong, badass woman.

 

Lesbian: dwarf assassin, either working for the carta or the Ambassadoria. Someone who isn't as friendly as Varric or as chipper as Sigrun. Just shy of cold blooded, but with a soft side.

 

Pansexual Polyamorous: A (female)soporati reaver dragon cultist and a (male)laetan blood mage apprentice to a magister who are in a committed relationship invite the PC to join them as the third member of their relationship; this counts as a single romance because it is one relationship that just happens to involve three people.
