Cullen and Josephine had that.

Yes  - the Cullen romance fits my specifications  and I would like to see at least one similar option in the next game.

Josie may have no significant angst, but I find her unappealing both physically and personality wise - and I  cant stand the diplomatic-fashionesta thing LOL. So no Josie types next time please

Heterosexual, dark-haired, rude to those they consider inferior? They don't have that many characteristics in common.

You left out the only ones that mattered, which is strong and independent.

Well, while I can see where you may attempt to debate this for certain LIs, surely Leliana and Isabela, at the very least, would also qualify.

I didn't say no one besides Cass and Morrigan qualified, only gave them as examples. That said, Lels to me is not my idea of strong, at least not in DA O. She got better in Inquisition however. Still, first impressions are a ******.

Isabella is both of these, but she's also disgusting. No thanks.

Lol... as her dead husband was a dwarf, it would be somewhat amusing if she were to be race and gender gated to male dwarves. I wonder how many players would make one just to romance her. I've no interest in playing a dwarf, and I typically romance men regardless of my own PC's gender, but it would certainly be tempting.

[edit]

Now that I think about it further, I don't think they would do this either. It has a chance to backfire really badly and violently. Granted, Maevaris is a known character, but not every player reads the ancillary materials or frequents the forums, so there is a high chance that many would not even know she's trans until she tells them in the game after flirting and whatnot. And then of course the devs would have to actually write out that scene, including player dialogue. I don't know... I just don't see it ending well.

I didn't play DAI, so if her husband was a dwarf, how did she see him in the Fade? Or was it funny because it was fake and that's how she knew?

On the edit, was it not obvious? It's hard to tell what my first impression would be without you telling me, but from the pictures I saw when I looked up the name, I totally see it.

If they make a transwoman a romance option I would be totally blown away. But... I don't know if they would actually do that. It would take some massive balls and a willingness to take the risk on the part of the devs and management; Mike Laidlaw and Mark Darrah. I think Patrick Weekes would certainly be willing to do that, and I wouldn't be surprised if he thought of it while grinning and thinking of all the people who complained about Krem in DAI.

Laidlaw and Darrah have some of the most "fuq the police" attitudes I've seen from game developers. If anyone would put a serious romance arc with a trans character in a videogame and tell the malcontent pissbabies to dealwithit.gif, these guys would.

Still, I'm not even debating whether they would or would not do it - 90% of the ideas in this thread would never make it to a game either. We're just spitballing ideas for fun, not seriously thinking the devs are actually reading the thread for inspiration. ;)

I would romance the hell out of Mae. I hate playing male characters, but I would totally play one just for her.

Wasn't in DAI, it was in the comics trilogy. All the characters trapped in the Fade were having visions of idealized lives, Alistair was dreaming of a life where he grew up with Maric, Varric was dreaming of being with Bianca, etc; Mae was dreaming of being with her husband. When they come to "rescue" her, she's like, lol yes I know it's just a spirit, just having a bit of fun. She was indulging the spirit posing as her husband for a laugh, but she's good enough a mage to recognize it for what it was.

What River said above. Also, Maevaris as drawn in the comics, and also in the Trespasser Tevinter slide with Dorian, is presented as a woman 100%. There was a scene in the comics where her dress/robes were ripped in the chest area and you can see that there are no breasts there. That was sort of the reveal for the character. Reading along in the comic is was one of those things like, "Uh... OH!" and then you understand and move on. Because there was so much going on, and the comic was not about Mae, it's not touched on as an issue, so the reader is left to come away with their own thoughts, positive, negative, or neutral, as the case may be.

Since you already knew, your perception of her was a bit biased toward "seeing it." I can assure you that while reading the comic on release it was a complete surprise to me. In every previous panel I saw her in I thought she was a cisgender woman because she was presented that way -- this is my own perception, of course -- and I believe the artist intended it to be so.

Comic reveal pic...

Spoiler

A game depiction would be quite interesting. It would all depend on the voice -- I thought Jennifer Hale's Krem was fantastic -- and what kind of clothes the devs are able to get her in. Her comic clothing was fantastic and I'd love to see how that would work out in a game. (Going shopping with her and Dorian would be a blast...)

The face looks very masculine in the pictures I saw.

Isabella? Digusting? She's one my canon romances! She was one of the saner ones in DA2 and not many of the LI choices were very sane to be honest (Anders is an abomantion, Fenris kills people on a daily bases, Merril is obsessed with her eluvan, while Isabela steals a book and starts a war). Well, she gets sanier if you rivalmanced her, like I did.

The only reason I didn't include Mae on my list was because she's a sitting member of the Magisterium and I would like to think any actual magister would have better things to do than follow us around, going on crazy adventures.

I could see her as being a non-companion LI like Josephine or Cullen and I wouldn't have a problem with that. But I specifically chose not to speculate on non-companion LI's when we have no idea how the game's going to be structured.

I would love to see a knight/tank type of love interest for us male/male romance fans. Alistair was just the best. And DA2 somewhat had Fenris...and then is Dragon Age Inquisition, I just basically became the knight because Dorian is boss. <3 Haha. I guess you could say Iron Bull is...but not in my eyes.

It was a creation of the demon trapping them.  Nearly everyone in the party saw something they desired - Varric was happy with Bianca (the woman, not the crossbow, although Bianca was holding Bianca), Alistair (king in this continuity) had a still living family - Maric was king and he and Calin had grown up as brothers - and Mae saw her husband.  She was aware it was just a fantasy but she still enjoyed it.

:D Well, I'm happy your Hawke enjoys her. Me? I wouldn't touch her with Iron Bull's junk, covered in two dragon skins enchanted with grand master cleansing runes and drizzled in a health poultice. I'd feel much much safer naked in the deep roads. She even canonically has an "itch" named after her, and I am not making that up. Too much mileage, no thank you. And that's coming from a guy that doesn't mind a woman that's promiscuous.

I don't care. That is still disgusting, whether she gets her STIs treated or not. "Oh well, yea I got herpies from this chick once, but it's kewl, they have a cure now!"

How well would that go with most people. Not very, guaranteed. I want someone with better judgement and more respect for themselves. It's gross for men too btw. I like Isabella, I just wouldn't bang her. Or be with her romantically in any way.

Just thinking of this thread at work last night, I'd love to have a Warden(A real one) FEMALE Rogue that becomes cured of the Calling thx to the HoF or whomever for appropriate world states. If they bring back older specializations I prefer she be a Ranger with pet as a sub companion sorta thing. Kinda like what's his face in personality from DAO...Daven or something. Wished he'd lived in the Joining as well, he was amusing.

I hate to prolong the derailment here but: nooooo. The number of people you bang or frequency thereof has nothing to do with whether or not you respect yourself.
