This thread gave me an idea for a new ability: Biotic Grab.

An adept would use it to physically yank the weapon out of an enemy's hand from long distances, Jedi-knight style.

It'd have two major advantages:

1. It'd allow the adept class to temporarily appropriate heavy weapons such as assault rifles and sniper rifles. (I say temporarily, because there'd be no way to reload the weapons you steal. Once you've expended the weapon's remaining ammo, you have to ditch the gun and return to your usual combat style.)

2. It'd deprive the enemy of a dangerous weapon, forcing him to resort to a weaker back-up weapon like a pistol.

Obviously, Biotic Grab would only work on regular grunts, not bosses or enemies with powerful biotic defences of their own.

Perhaps better than expanding Charge's ability is simply a biotic Dash power that is available to all biotics. It won't recharge your barriers, but will still allow you to flank and make quick dodges. You know, something like the N7 Fury's dodge, perhaps without the phasing through walls.

That's nice and all, but it's just a glorified dodge move. The range is even shorter than poison strike's (that was mentioned earlier).

With charge you can close much bigger distances.

I said "something like", not literally the exact same power. Give it more reach, whatever.
But Biotic Charge is seriously too overpowered to give it even more usefulness.

Sure, remove the shield-recharge thing, at least when not hitting someone. It makes no sense anyway according to the lore.

Keep Biotic Charge as is. Add a Biotic Dodge that covers a set distance at the cost of barrier power.

. . .in fact,  make all of the Vanguard-specific moves require a barrier cost (Nova, Biotic Dodge, Disruption Blast) while leaving Biotic Charge as is. Thus a smart Vanguard makes sure to remain in cover when not causing carnage and waits patiently for biotic charge to cooldown as it remains their bread-and-butter for the swift re-usage of their other abilities.

I like this. I never used nova. Never. Charge is too op as it is. I like a challenge when it comes to Mass Effect games.

Vanguard's full of cheese and needs a balance to it. Barrier drainage works well for this given that the Vanguard operates best at close range, thus they have to balance between having shields to take hits or expending that shield strength for their attacks/abilities.

Making charge useable all the time is not about making it stronger (or the Vanguard), it's about giving it more utility and staying true to what makes sense.

Besides, when it comes to MP balance and nerf as much as you want, I'm talking about the class in SP.
