Yes. If anything, the Lancer is a better weapon to bring back, since it doesn't need a constant supply of thermal clips, which is well suited for a new galaxy.

The ME3 Lancer is absolutely killer. The Avenger is completely mediocre, if not on the weaker end. The only way it's semi-decent is on the N7 destroyer (in MP), with the firing rate bonusus from Devastator mode.

Lancer (Avenger predecessor) was perfect for Insanity play through. It gave me less to worry about, ammo wise. I took along the M-11 Suppressor for heavily armoured tanks such as the Banshee's and Grunt's. That thing was a huge ass saver in the final battle, discounting Marauder Shields. 

 

The Avenger will be back.

The devs are allowed to put more than one weapon in ME:A.

 

It would be criminal not to bring back the Avenger.

All I know is that they better have the Claymore back. Best gun in the series as far as I'm concerned.

The Avenger is a beautiful rifle, but it is not the best. I would put the Mattock and Valkyrie above it.

It's purely aesthetic. Almost all of the original guns and their reskins have extraneous barrels.

The same could be asked of the second barrel of most of the weapons. It would've been sweet if it shot a small explosive charge.

As far as ARs go, nothing beats the Cerberus Harrier in terms of damage.

Saber, Particle Rifle, Lancer, Typhoon, those are the great ARs. Also, the Adas Anti-Synthetic Rifle, but it's ridiculously better in single player.

Yep.
As long as I get my harrier or mattock, I could care less about any of the other returning weapons.
But I'll be interested in the new weapons-of course, but we'll see if any can outshine the harrier or mattock.

The Cerberus Harrier is my copilot. If it were to return, it'd be hard for me to ever get into a different weapon.
