We didn't have the current state of Feminism that we do now where everything is Trigger worthy....Not to mention I am considered Satan incarnate for simply being born the gender I am.

only in america. I have other problems.

BG1 really isn't worth playing unless you enjoy low level D&D gameplay, the story is very light compared to SoA even if what is there is well written.

I made a custom character when I started. An anti magic dwarf. Maxxed out for total antimagitty. He was mediocre in combat. But, oh, did he shine against mages. Totally worth it.

Yes, writing opinions is a bit like killing six million jews and starting a world war. I think comparing feminists to nazis is measured and reasonable.

Please tell us more about your personal life. At what time do you usually do the groceries? When your socks are smelly, do you change them or just turn them inside out? It's all very interesting.

Nobody ever remembers the poor Russians. far more than 6 million of them were starved to death.

Whatever the gender, don't ruin a villain with a lazy indocrination/possession plot.

I agree with this.

I cannot think of a single female villain I would particularly call well written.

Making an effective villain often depends on making use of very primal emotions and concepts such as fear and power. These are not things that can be politically enforced. Although that kind of reasoning is probably above the heads of people whose brains shut down at immediately speeds whenever the issue of 'equality' arises.

If a villain is intended to be intimidating, it's probably best to stick with a man.

You sir have a very limited way of thinking. It's not because of some SJW agenda that we like and want female vilians. It's because you can make really sassy and teasing characters and still make them treating.

Want an example? Azula from Avatar: The last Airbender.

That girl was a menace. But we all loved her mind games and she could kick some serious ass.

Want more? ok:

Mistique - X man

Maleficent (from the original Sleeping Beauty cartoon, the movie one was a joke)

Shadee and Kaileena - Prince of Persia (though I wish they were less sexualized)

Belatrix Lestrange - Harry Potter

Elle Driver - Kill Bill

Cersei Baratheon - Game of thrones

Regina Mills / Evil Queen - Once upon a time

Harley Quinn - Batman

Dolores Umbridge - Harry Potter

Sister Mary Eunice - American Horror Story: Asylum

And I could add a lot more names to this list, but I think I made my point.

Who? Can't have been that impressive.

Don't even go there, she was ****.

Bodhi was probably the best villainess in a Bioware game, and was one of the two main in a brother/sister pair of antagonists.

Liara would have being a good choice for a female as villain given the history between her and the player, but alas she didn't let the power of her position as broker get to her head and misuse it.

I have to be honest: I don't think Bioware have the guts to make a truly memorable and despicable villain. They're so worried about causing controversy or spoiling 13 year old Billies power fantasy. All they've done so far is give the player character opportunities to non-violently talk people like aria from sacrificing thousands or revealing that the main villain just went cuckoo and wasn't entirely at fault.

A more properly written scenario could involve the player character beating her senseless and sticking a gun in her face and threatening her life if she gets stupid like that again. But players tend to be squeamish about their (likely male) protagonist beating women, don't they now?

Sounds like something I wanted to do to Liara for making that stupid comment on thessia. You know the one? The next time we go to war maybe the Alliance could spring for air support. Yeah. Where was the renegade interrupt?

Honestly I think Bioware should take a hint from Obsidian on how to do a villain, with characters like Sion in kotor 2. That guy wasn't messing around. The highly philosophically driven main antagonist being Kreia is also an example:

Above would be an example of that.

it's not quite that cut and dried because wars tend to cause mass migration all over the place and that plays havoc with the statistics.

A female antagonist like Faora could work well in Mass Effect. She could even be a super-powered Kryptonian-esque being, impervious to all standard weaponry, and the only way to defeat her is by recruiting a Mordin-like genius (or being a genius yourself) and researching ancient Remnant technology to find a way to circumvent her natural defences.

Perhaps she is (or believes she is) the last surviving member of her species -- a species that has a distant and mysterious connection with humanity, hence her human appearance. And perhaps for this reason the unexpected arrival of the human Pathfinder in the Andromeda galaxy captures her attention and she becomes obsessed with him. Maybe she believes that his DNA holds the key to restoring her extinct (or somehow imprisoned?) race.

That does make the hero a "special snowflake" again ... but not in a good way this time. It doesn't grant him any special powers or advantages. It just makes him the target of an incredibly dangerous woman. And perhaps the aliens of the Andromeda galaxy instantly fear and hate you and all humans in your party because they assume you're related to the villain, who has shown herself to be a heartless tyrant.

She was the best in this AHS season.

@Inquisitor_Jonah, replying to baby puncher is a waste of time. The fact that he couldn't think of a female villain shows how little stuff he actually saw. Or maybe he thinks women can't be good villains.

I think Sister/Mother Petrice from DA2 is quite despicable, haven't found anyone who would not despise this far at least. She just didn't play part big enough to be that memorable I guess.

After Kai Leng and Corypheus, I really hope Bioware pulls off a good antagonist this time. Not saying Cory was as bad as Kai Leng, but he was a let down.

It is a shame that Corypheus turned out to be a weak villain, because he was both interesting and intimidating in the Legacy DLC. I think he had potential, but it was squandered with the way he was written in DA:I.

At least they nailed his introduction in DA3 with the battle of Haven. A shame they really didn't do anything with him after that.

The attack on Haven and the immediate aftermath was by far the best part of the game.

I agree.

On a related note: did DA:I ever explain why Corypheus was, like, twelve feet tall? I assume ancient magisters were normal height. lol

In my opinion Bioware's representation of most women is positively insulting. They're slaves to protagonist, idiotic, unmotivated, incompetent and their only avenue of expression is mass slaughter. They do not even have the brains to dress appropriately for the climate and would die of hyphotermia within hours. There are some exceptions like Flemeth, Morrigan, Cassandra etc...

You want good female antagonists try someone like Philipa Eilhart, who makes heroes and monarchs dance to her tune, through cunning and conniving.

Kreia, a manipulative Sith mastermind who is alone pursuing the only moral agenda in an entire galaxy. Amelyssan (created by BW) a wizard and deciever who convinces everyone that her greatest desire was to help people, instead she uses everyone as a tool to achieve her goals.

I'm guessing we're talking about the Holodommor here? Or are we talking about mass starvation related to WW2?

It didn't help that significant characterization for him was hidden down one particular mission path.
