Is there going to be ammo clips or is ME going back to something similar to ME:1?

Since the devs haven't said anything no one probably knows except them. However, I wanted to put it out there this for me is highly important. I hated the whole ammo clip system. I am now watching a live stream of battlefront beta because I was steered away from buying the game and having beta access thanks to reddit. One thing I am noticing and liking is the no ammo weapons, semi u shape graphic tells you when you are close to initiating cooling down. I image player health is a bit high to compensate for quicker cooldown or this guys weapon is weak because it take long to kill other players.

The thing I hated most about ammo is that it could run out. I didn't mind that weapons had clips before reloading but they ran out annoyed me the most. Gameplay is not lore, text and context is as well as events.

Did you hate the ammo system after ME:1 or don't care? Is it one of those things like for me which if the ME:1 weapon system returned would result in forgiving the ME trilogy?

I know I probably missed something else that would have me completely forgive the ME trilogy. What in game element if it returned would result in complete forgiveness of the ME trilogy for those who disliked the handling of ME 3 ending before EC?

I want the thermal clips to be airlocked as well, but it's not likely to happen. Aside from the Andromeda devs saying the combat will much the same as ME3, it would also make ME:A less like CoD and Battlefield.

It'll probably be clips. Changing ammo the system now after the general success of the sequels' combat would be ill advised.

I prefer clips because the allowed the game to play faster, but I'm not particularly tied to the system. It's just an easy way to get quicker and well balanced combat.

Aww, well that's lame. Thanks for the reply. That means ME:A maybe a late or last minute preorder for me after I gather all information. I really want to go back to ME because it's familiar. I have the trilogy and ME:1 is still my favorite one even though the graphic are not how I remembered.

I think Inquisition came out with a demo and I'm sure ME3 had one, so if you're on the fence about the combat, then you can wait and try it yourself.

Wait. You can actually run out of ammo in this game?

Inquisition had no demo. The only thing showed was Mike and Cameron showing some of the features and gameplay

Yes it does. I don't know if the demo launched with the game, but it does exist. You could also just ask for a refund if you're on PC. AFAIK, it's no questions asked.

There was also a week or so of Twitch streaming from nearly every major streamer.

Looks to be only for the pc and not consoles.

It was released July 14 2015 long after the game was released.

Regardless, ME3 had a demo at least and with EA access and marketing campaigns focused on getting the game out to streamers, there should be plenty of information available to make an informed purchase at least in terms of gameplay (not so much for horrid endings).

I personally preferred thermal clips for the higher rate of fire available. Perhaps Andromeda could allow us to select our ammunition mechsnism while modding our weapon? More complicated but could satisfy both parties.

Clips are life, clips are love, overheating weapons made ME1's combat feel like drowning in warm wallpaper paste.

Can't wait for Andromeda's glorious clipped guns.

I hope we don't need bullets like in ME2 and ME3 as it was a stupid way to play the game.

Thermal clips are heat sinks, not bullets.

I hope they keep with Thermal clips though as ME1 got way too easy once you got frictionless Material upgrades.

However they may try to do a balance of weapons that use thermal clips and weapons that use modified heat sinks like in ME3.  ME3 did a good job balancing the two weapon types since heart sinks you ran the risk of overheating if you didn't use controlled bursts and the cooldown time could be strenuous during combat while thermal clips offered faster reloading to say in the action longer with limited Thermal clips being a factor..... I will admit though I never had an issue with running out of thermal clips in Mass Effect.

Lore wise, thermal clips are ranking darn high on the BS scale of the ME universe.

Weapons fire projectiles that are shaved from a high-density block of metal, and said block of metal needs to be mass-reduced for the weapon to retain a light enough weight to remain portable. Many hundred rounds can be fired that way before you'd have to reload.

Except that you  have to reload thermal clips now because otherwise your gun overheats itself to oblivion.

Now that the reloading action is necessary anyway, weapon engineers could just have stuck with regular ammo, since the advantage of the projectile technology is nullified by the need for thermal clips, making ME guns the most uselessly over-engineered devices ever.

Yes but you'd have to be a pretty bads player to have that happen though as I found moer than enough clips to keep my weapons firing

Neither did I on the Arrival DLC sometimes I ran a little low on bullets but I pretty much had enough to last most of the time but I think that's more down to the fact the enemies I've noticed don't drop as many as in the other missoins. I can get through it OK though so it's not really a problem.

I don't really care, personally, although the setting in MEA seems to offer appropriate justification for dropping clips and returning to the old design.

Speaking of battlefront, shouldn't those blasters still technically require reloading with gas cartridges (tibanna, etc)? Or am I just a giant dork who's misremembering my lore?

I don't know jack about the lore to be honest, but I do remember that they had an ammo count in the Dark Forces series of games.

Just did an hour of Battlefront. Effect on blood pressure... undesirable.

Bioware didn't really seem to either when they introduced them, so why should we?

They're basically bullets.
