The other voice would sound better on a taller, bigger man in my opinion. Someone fit to be a lumberjack or a powerlifter.
Why does everyone use the british voice for a human inquisitor

Because my scrawny, sassy little elf sounds utterly ridiculous with the American voice.
...Just as my big snarky goof of a Qunari sounds ridiculous with the British voice.
I love both of the male voices equally, but I definitely do prefer them being used for the races than game auto-assigns them to. It works well for me, personally.
My favourite of all is Alix, minus that 'What's going on here?' line. I feel like she brought the most emotion into her lines. I had the most fun being angry inquisitor using her VA.
I've only just set up a dwarf using Sumalee's voice so I haven't tried it much. Probably my least favourite but as I've made a character that I feel suits the voice, I will possibly find it grows on me.
But then again, the British voice is something I hear on a daily basis thanks to where I live. So of course it'll be the one that sounds the most natural to me. Local bias and all that.

I use Sumalee's voice for my human mage.
This is the BSN. Any statement framed as "All <this> do <that>" will be categorically false. Possibly including that sentence.

Having played Descent, I now really wish we could have had David Hayter do the male American voice (not that the current one is bad, I just want to play as Snake Trevelyan).

Although there have been exceptions, British voice for humans and elves seems to be the franchise preferred option (and mine too). Human voice for dwarves and qunari also seems the best fit too, and in line with the franchise version.
Now if they will just give us the Orlesian accent voice too, that would be quite fun!

American voice sounds too boomy for my archer.
Brit voice is perfect.
Even if some of his anger lines sound more like he's a wee bit upset instead. (lol)

Harry Hadden-Paton all the way just for the Homer Simpson "Ah!" at the end of Trespasser.

I don't even notice the accent I just pick the voice that's better. In this case, American Male>British Male and British Female>American Female. It's an easy choice. Finished a Dwarf female earlier in the summer with British voice, didn't feel out of place, play was fine. Now doing Human male mage, picked American voice, again it's all good, doesn't feel out of place.

Why? Because the American voice is so friggin' low, and that just dun suit a human character, unless they're supposed to be burly. It works for the qunari because they tower above everyone else. Also, it's hard to listen to the American accent, sometimes.

Because I dislike both male and female American voices; too low and boring. Perhaps they suit better for qunari and dwarf - or even a freaking cave bear - but I don't ever play as a qunari or dwarf. So, it's British voices for me all the way.

I think the main factor is that from the getgo we were told that the American/deep voice is mostly for dwarves and qunari, so people were influenced by that and considered the norm to be the British voice. The American voice acting is awesome though, used it for my male qunari and I'm loving it.
I am now using the female American for my elf and it fits surprisingly well. I mean if we are going to bring up lore, then why don't the elves have a different accent like they did in DA2?

Most other games with voiced characters the protagonists tend to have American accents, so it is nice to have a change now and again.

I would dig having a PC with a Scottish accent. SeaBass can't be the only cat out there with it.

Commander in charge of the Inquisiton fort in the Western Approach has one, too.

For me, I use the voice that fits the characters appearance. 9 times out of 10 the british voices fit my characters better. Few things are jolting as hearing a voice that doesn't fit the character.

As it stands there aren't any Humans that speak with an American accent. It's typically dwarves, qunari and city elves that do.
That and I also believe that that brittish accent is a bit more "expressive"

Alix (British) is the best. Her deliveries are prefect (boy can she speak Elven!), emotion is just right when the scene requires it and she truly feels the moments. She's always my go-to for humans and elves. I don't play the others, but I have heard the American voices and they suit them waaay better! Especially female dwarves!

While not much is known about Otswick it does seem to be influenced by Fereldan with the titles and location being one the city-states that's at a short distance from it. So my human males favor that Brit voice.
I prefer male brit if I am doing human(which is my favorite voice)
female brit for elf
American male for dwarf
and American female for qunari

I use the american one for my male human
I used the American one for one of my human male inquisitors. But Max was a big guy with a big personality and could carry it off. That voice seemed to fit him better. In terms of the ladies, I really don't like the tone of the American woman at all. I think she acted the role fine and was convincingly inquisitorial, but something about her voice bothers me.
What I think is funny is that accents aren't terribly consistent in the games. There were Dwarves with English accents in DAO (Bodan anyone, and that guy in the bar in Orzammar talking about the curse). Accents weren't consistent in DA2 either. They are more consistent in DAI but aren't consistent with the inconsistencies displayed in DAO and DA2. Go figure.
I still like (Cirilla)Hawke's voice best.

I have only played humans so far and I think the English accent fits humans and elves best. I do think the American accent is best for dwarves and qunari though.
