Commander in charge of the Inquisiton fort in the Western Approach has one, too.
I forgot about that guy. I didn't visit Griffon Wing Keep all that often. Still, I'd love to have the accent for my PC.

As it stands there aren't any Humans that speak with an American accent. It's typically dwarves, qunari and city elves that do.
That and I also believe that that brittish accent is a bit more "expressive"
There have been some humans. The only ones I can recall at the moment are Flemeth -- who it's fair to say doesn't really count -- and Brother Genitivi in DAO. There have also been dwarves with the English accent, but those are also rare.

Knight-Captain Rylen is also from Starkhaven, so I'm guessing that that is the accent they've settled on for that particular place. Hunter Mag (gives Let's Slay the Beast) in the Hissing Wastes also has a really great Scottish accent.
I used british on my Male Qunari I mainly pick the voice that fits the look of my character really.

Several of those hunters have American accents if you talk to them while meandering about in the Wastes. Is it wrong that I picture Flemeth as Captain Janeway?
I think the main factor is that from the getgo we were told that the American/deep voice is mostly for dwarves and qunari, so people were influenced by that and considered the norm to be the British voice. The American voice acting is awesome though, used it for my male qunari and I'm loving it.
Wait, who said that? BioWare?

No. I pictured Zathrian as Lieutenant Commander Tuvok.
A proper British gentleman never loses his temper.
Exactly, stiff upper lip and all that!
"Keep Calm and Close the Breach"
(Bioware, I want that on a t-shirt or mug!)

I prefer the American voice for male characters
Because I like AWR's voice
I use English female for my elf pc's but have to have male Hawke in those games because otherwise the Inquisitor and Hawke sound too much alike. I used American female voice for my human, dwarf, and qunari gals, and they all sounded just fine. I like the droll, deadpan tone she uses.
Have only used the English male voice so far, for both elf and human, but have a male qunari just started where I picked the American voice. Haven't played enough with him to have an opinion yet.
While I stick to the default voices for races, I do think the voice actors influence how I roleplay them because each of them suit a particular style.
Harry is great at being suave as sin, Alix and Jon are the best at being snarky, while Sumalee sells extreme badass.
I would dig having a PC with a Scottish accent. SeaBass can't be the only cat out there with it.
They've basically established Scottish accents as the accent of people from Starkhaven. The scholar in the Frostback Basin has a Scottish accent too.

Yeah pretty sure.

Meh. I'm was pretty sure some voice actors in DA:O were hired before they hammered all that out. I seem to recall an anecdote a writer said about Dwarves having German accents for a while in their design notes. Wynn's accent is American (she is just trying really hard to speak Broadcast American). Bodahn and Sandal are British. But for the most part, it was all the non-humans who had American accents. They've been slowly retconning it down to Dwarves and Qunari (and the Qunari sound like they are trying to be Lt. Worf instead of any real-world American accent).

Yeah, Kenric mentions if you ask him about his background that he's from Starkhaven, but moved to Orlais to attend the university.
I do wonder if they'll ever address why Starkhaven is the only place in the entire Free Marches that has a distinct regional accent? Not that's unusual in our world, but the only other Marchers who have non-English accents are the surface Dwarves.

Since when is thedas filled with british accents? I don't remember a british accent is origins ever?
Also I don't remember america having a single accent either but I'm not gonna start that tbh.

Most Scottish accents used for voice overs are very mild ones as the full brogue is overpowering to most non Scots. I have learned over the years to temper my own accent when speaking to non Scots.

So have I. It can come off a little over-enunciated but it gets the job done.
As for the voices, British Female is the best IMO. I tried making a dwarf with the American female voice, but she was just so dull and bored sounding.
Monotone: "Oh I'm in a prison.", "Oh I'm marked with magic and may die.", "Oh you think I'm sent by your Maker to save the world."
Didn't seem to matter what response I chose, from angry to sad, she just sounded bored in each one.
I play female human inquisitors, the American VA sounds too earthy and strong. She's more suitable for a quanri. ![]()

Some of our Wardens had an accent like that. It wasn't strong, but had a slight British tone.
I use british male , only played a male elf.
Can't comment on american voices , really haven't played them or seen much on Youtube.
The British male is sometimes cringe worthy , I knew that yelling line during Trespasser would be terrible for him , "Can this bloody world stay fixed blablabla"...the dude can't yell with any conviction.
But it suits me just fine I didn't want to play an Inqui with a big sense of "mah authoritah" going on ...
British male is great at soft spoken , funny lines .
I can't play Bristh female , yes she's way better when it comes to yelling ..but jeez she sounds like she has a chip on her shoulder .
Also I watched the Sera romance on youtube and she sounded like mom lecturing a five years old at times , boring as hell.
I haven't been able to play a female human like I wanted to do , I just can't stand the voice.
I *always* use the American voice for male human Inquisitors.
It is deep, rugged, powerful and the only one that doesn't sound dumb during the infamous "What's going on here?" line.
Deadpan and funny lines are are awesome with the male American voice. It has far more variety and range than the male British one.
I really hope we get another deeper American voice option next game.
Because he's hot. Which is a fact.

Even if it did (I never noticed it) I don't remember any strong british accents.
British quizzy sounds so out of place it's like their an alien. Never noticed "american" quizzy (where in america specifically I'll never know >.>''') sound out of place.
I've only used the American voice for a Human Inquisition that was Black, since I am African American. All other times I use it for Male Dwarves and Qunari.
