And gifts, i like the special gifts that meant something to the person. And usually they were like "Whoa, i thought you weren't listening. Thanks, bub, this means a lot". On a similar note, the fact there were consequences for getting high or low affection was nice. First time i played it, i ignored Zev...my heart shattered i tell you, shattered!

I also miss the "persuade" and "intimidate" options. I felt like i had to really think about what i was doing so i could get the best outcome. It also didn't feel like i had to limit myself to one sort of personality, which is awesome.

Yeah, that's what I meant. The important gifts that result in conversations. Those were great.
More consequences for approval and/or rivalry system would be a plus for me too.

Yes! I love those options in games. It's great for roleplaying. I also don't play characters that are 100% anything, so I liked the option of intimidating or persuading people depending on the situation.

What you said about more overt racism reminded me of the only time in the series I've used the Murder Knife (that I remember). There was a prisoner in Arl Howe's dungeon that was ranting about how elves weren't people (unfortunately it was a while ago and I don't remember who it was), and my Warden just stabbed him through the cell bars. It was a knee-jerk reaction, but that just adds to the realism of the roleplaying. Also, I was a human.

Even the innocent racism was fun. Leliana on elven servants upsets the Warden, but she didn't mean it that way. I like that, no one was squeaky clean, and sometimes they said pig-headed things, even without meaning to.

The "personality" things was the thing i didn't enjoy in DA2. People don't only show one personality trait, so it felt limited. I thought it improved with the Inquisitor. But it's tiny things like that that make role-playing fun. My Warden was a nice, sarcastic pacifist unless you got on her nerves. Some of the conversations with Ohgren were perfect, like when he was drunk. "Right here you mad dwarven stallion" will forever be my favorite banter with him.

There was a lot more casual sex in DAO, I'll say that. ;)

Well, not me. And I was carefully avoiding flirt options.

Maybe you took a flirt option without realizing it? Some of those dialogue options in DAO were damn ambiguous.

if you never take a flirt option with her (ie.  Don't talk to her or at all or you will get the "my tent is cold" dialogue), do her personal quest, Morrigan will ask your warden "Was there ever a moment there could have been more between us?" which may or may not start the romance I would think, kind of a last chance before friend zone.  If you decline I don't recall losing any approval, and her dialogue is rather touching.  Paraphrased: "I've never had a male friend before".

I miss the whole game=)

Would like to erase my memory and play it again. And then repeat=)

But most of all I miss small choices with npc quests.

Like with Cammen: I can help, I can reject, I can persuade him to be more brave or persuade her or just complete the main quest and Cammen's issue will be solved.

I'd like to see again the persistent injuries. It was fine when you had to enter a combat with some malus because you had a broken bone or a gaping wound and you were out of Injury Kits.

We do that since health does not regenerate between fights. It is slightly different but still injuries. Cracked skulls, punctured lungs and all that seems a bit improbable to go on fighting with to me.

You know, one thing that bothered me about being able to speak to your companions wherever and whenever... is that it could REALLY screw up the pacing of your relationship. You could burn through dialogue options so fast that it took another plot event (like killing Taliesen or Flemeth) to talk to your LI again... or if you were trying to take it slow and build up a relationship over the course of the game, you could end up amassing romantic dialogue in the last stretch of the story, including conversations that were clearly meant to happen much earlier.

So, I'm kinda glad they're moving away from that.

What I miss most is minor choices in quests.

Like: in "Captured!" you had several options to get out, including seducing the keeper if you were a woman
Like: Amalia and "Kitty"
Like: "Cammen's Lament"
Like: Various options to deal with who and what you found in Arl Howe's estate.

These things are the reason why I think DAO is still the best game in the series after six years and two more games.

Perhaps I shouldn't have answered. This is *not* trivial.

Yeah, and for me I have always managed to inadvertantly started up numerous conversations while trying to loot and/or move around. I could have it or lose it. Don't really care.

But you don't get any malus. In DA:I (and also in DA2 if I remember well) whether you have 1% or 100% health you fight exactly the same.

Injuries were not just a "health bar" matter. :)

Not major ones, but just really small things. It's mostly companion related stuff.

1. Literally all npcs you've met calls your character beautiful.

2. Companions get all jealous over your character and get snippy. It was so golden.

3. Companions initiate flirting. In DAI, sometimes I almost feel like I have to beg....

4. Camping night. I miss it. So, to me, Descent was a nice touch.

5. Talking to companions during the exploration.

6. Funny presents. Like giving Morrigan Alistair's doll.

1. I'm really not a fan of those kinds of compliments so I'll happily pass on having those back.

2. The jealousy was kind of fun. I particular enjoyed it in DA2 when it made no sense. A Rivalled Anders getting mad at my Psychotic Hawke for picking to have a terrible rivalled romance with Fenris and not him. Gave me a good laugh. Everything about that playthrough was so wrong. So wonderfully wrong.

3. I do miss the flirting, but I also don't miss being ninja-manced by Leliana and Alistair. You say one nice thing and suddenly it's wedding bells....yeesh. But some of the romanceable characters in DAI were like pulling teeth to get through to.

4. Not that bothered about the camping.

5. Always miss being able to talk to my companions all over the place. Asking them for their input. I like it when they feel a bit more involved. But I also kept triggering it accidentally when I was trying to do other things, like looting.

6. I miss the gifts that come with some kind of story to them. It was also a great way to get everyone to like me

"I cannot believe you killed them all, Warden. You are a disgrace"

"Here, have some candy."

"BEST FRIENDS FOR LIFE <3"

The one thing I really miss from Origins is the Ranger specialisation. Rogues are my favourite class to play as and I loved my Spider/Bear/Wolf bro  :( Helping distract enemies while I snuck up behind them. It was my animal companion without it taking up a companion slot (so I guess the DA2 mabari counts towards that as well). The only animal companion my Inquisitor gets is the mount. Which I kept forgetting is a thing because I like to wander around with my team. They won't come to your aid in battle though. Tis not the same.

1. I would prefer the NPCs describe your character in more than just the one way.

2. Yeah, in Baldur's Gate 2 (BioWare's first attempt at romances) Aerie, Jaheira and Viconia fight over a male (human, elf or half-elf) PC if any 2 of them are in the same party. The banter was great fun, and made the romances feel a bit more 3-dimensional than they probably would have had the characters waited for the player to show interest in them first, with the other 2 acting like they were never interested.

I miss the message history. Didn't use it often, but still a pretty cool feature to have.

That was Vaughan and he's probably the only person I've ever murder knifed in a game...he deserved killing.

Mage robes! Iron Bull telling Dorian to hike up his skirt just makes no sense when he's wearing pants. Also, I prefer robes for my mages!

Gifts! They are a nice little touch to show that you care!

Morrigan asks all my male wardens to her tent even if they don't flirt.

False. You flirted her unintentionally. I have manager to avoid her doing so by checking in the wiki what dialogue options are romantic.

Since DAO has no "this is a humorous reply. This is a romantic reply" like DA2, you may flirt her by thinking you are just being nice.

Yet most of dragon age origins dialogued work the same as DA2 and inquisition. Top option is diplomatic dialogue, middle one is humorous and bottom is agressive. If there are 4 choices, there is a romantic one but never in the same place.

Most players accidentaly initiate morrigan's rommance by telling her "you can ask me anything anything whenever you like" (or close to that) after she protests why you always make so many idle questions

But... DA:I removed them all except for the new "emotional" responses. Which sucks, because I've been the victim of my Inquisitor saying something in a different tone than I expected, which wouldn't have happened nearly as much in DA2. Also, they added a toggle for tone indicators, but it's not very useful, because of the above.

It did and it didn't. The tones are in the same place as they were. I have noticed how in inquisition all top options are politically correct, while the middle ones are an outright joke and the bottom ones are pretty blunt

Yeah, the warden can be a mofo dog!

My all time favorite scene was the Warden + Isabella + Leliana + Zevran orgy. That made me laugh for hours, being able to do that

I don't miss not being able to speak to party members at any time. Less chance of accidental conversations at inopportune times. "Oh Alistair, right in front of this dead broodmother is the perfect place to confess your love."
