Simple survey conversation. Whether you loved the game or not, the goal of this thread to is to list an equal amount of traits you liked and disliked from the game. See this as a form of feedback and self-criticism if you can't find anything positive or negative to talk about. Yes, it's some kind of homework. I'm your teacher. I will score you with candies and cookies.

----------

5 THINGS I LIKED

  1. Dorian's inclusion in the game. His questline, his relationship with his father, his romance, his sarcasm, his lines. He was a very great asset in the team and a fun character to have around for banter.
  2. Iron Bull. Surprisingly, his storyline if you make him a tal-vashoth makes me feel happy to see that there's some hope for that race. The Qun isn't perfect, it's not something I would ever accept in my life, but it allowed me to meet such a cool character who'd do anything for his friends, considering the fact you do not sacrifice them. The camaraderie between him and the Chargers is something that I will never forget from this game. Oh and bonus point for the romance, because it's hilarious and not meant to be taken so seriously.
  3. Cassandra. Her humor, her tomboyish ways, her fangirl moments, her banters with Varric. She was simply divine... yep, I did a pun there. Even though I don't make her a Divine in my playthroughs, she's simply a character I love to have around the game and my party.
  4. The leveling system isn't that bad. I had my doubts at first, but now that we're allowed to select what sort of upgrades we want for our skills, it allows a lot of replayability for the classes and strategies for some of the tougher fights. Sure the AI system could use some tweak for the sequels, but I didn't find myself having issues with it on Casual and Normal modes. I started a Hard mode file as well and it isn't a huge issue for me since I craft a lot.
  5. Trespasser DLC. This is what this game needed the most, a sense of "closure" between us and the companions from our previous adventure. The original ending felt rushed and unsatisfying. Now that we did that DLC, I feel a sense of accomplishment, even though I am sad this is over.

5 THINGS I DISLIKED

  1. The lack of choices that change how the story will play. You get a few of them and one of them in particular affects the way you play the plot and it's the decision between the mages and the templar. Afterwards the plot plays pretty much the same way. I expected more from the previews this game had and the alpha build.
  2. Corypheus wasn't a charismatic villain in my opinion and wasn't a true challenge for me. I felt like his DA2 incarnation was much better, more "evil" and fun to battle as he used a few tricks that forced us to evade his moves and move around, etc. I don't like how overpowered I feel when I fought him.
  3. The crafting system at first is fun, but the menu system gets so confusing at times that I had difficulties finding what I needed to make my items look good, or have good stats, etc. The crafting system is a nice option, but it makes looting pointless, end-game. All the rare items you find are always a bit weaker than what you can create and that's disappointing. I don't like imposing myself an handicap just so I can feel a challenge, you know?
  4. The lack of a true origin point of view for our Inquisitor. It's all things that happened off-screen for all of them and it ruined my immersion personally. I felt like all our characters were basically the same, only with a few different lines here and there about racial choices. The tones are the same for the normal lines, but to me, it felt like most of the areas and plots in this game were written with a human character in mind, which makes some of the scenes awkward for dwarves, elves and qunaris.
  5. The Table Mission. Another thing that made me upset that most of the "action" was happening off-screen. Would had been fun if we could had joined some of them or had a "camera mode" to see what the Inquisition was doing while you were waiting for them to come back. The texts are good for people who love to read, sure, but I'm not a huge reader due to the fact I got a terrible sight and I often get migraines if I stay in front of a screen for too long while reading something.

Bonus mention: Hairstyles need to get better for the next games... Seriously.

Your turn.

Hmm.

Five things I liked.

1) Companions in general were better IMO than previous ones--I liked every single one this time.  Standouts being Cassandra--who proved to be a soft squishy romantic and a giant adorkable geek goddess under that hard exterior!--and Dorian, fun to flirt with on any gender, but especially so on a female since (as with Teagan) it takes on a quality of 'courtly manners'.  They need more characters like this in the games.  Iron Bull also stands out as a character who surprised me and I actually enjoyed.  I was afraid he'd be a Sten/Arishok clone, but since I made him Tal-Vashoth he turned out a lot more fun in the end.  I also enjoyed that each companion has their own unique look that you can tinker around with (and recolor) and craft armor/weapons for. Much preferred to Origins "everyone looks the same in armor" or the locked in appearance of companions in DA2.

2) Wartable missions/Judgements gave me the feeling I was actually exerting the power of the Inquisition on the world around my PC, adding realism and an element of "I'm making a difference outside the normal game story".  Some judgements I agonized over the choice of what to do, but I found all of them interesting and fun.

3) I may be in an minority of 1 but I enjoyed all three story DLCs, Descent, Jaws of Hakkon and Trespasser each added a lot to my Inquisitor's story.  Descent was the first Deep Roads incursion in the franchise I actually enjoyed (a large part due to the challenging combats and the gorgeous visuals) adding to the dwarven lore.  JoH had Avvar, Tevinter and Inquisition and Blight lore galore.  And Trespasser wrapped everything up nicely, tying up the loose ends and leaving the opening to the next chapter.  And the final confrontation with Solas was another moment where I agonized over my responses to him--here was a friend and mentor to my Dalish mage Inquisitor telling her he was going to destroy everything she knew and loved.

4) Open world.  Yes, I know there were zones and it required loading from zone to zone, but everything felt far more open and I found myself exploring every nook and cranny on my canon run (over 135 hours counting DLC's too).

5) Amazing CC palate with truly unique looking Inquisitors capable (just look at some of the threads of 'post you favorite inquisitor here').  I especially enjoyed the sliders you could employ to tinker with individual features.

The list could go on and on but you asked for just 5.

Five things I disliked:

1) Obscure speaking characters.  Don't get me wrong, I loved every single one of them, and each felt unique to me.  But Sera and Cole were as clear as mud in manner of speech.  Half the time I spent in their dialogues feeling like I needed a translation guide, as it seemed they were almost speaking a foreign tongue to me.

2) Threadbare plot and unsatisfying ending battle.  All through the game I expected the big bad to turn out to be someone directing Corypheus.  It isn't till the very end (past the initial credits of the base game) and you see Solas is the Dread Wolf and he kills Flemeth (or maybe she forces her suicide on him--hard to tell what happened there) do you realize the 'Big Bad' was in your company all along.  Even then, he's been conflicted, and still is, even 2 years later.  And you can't even punch his clock/slap him at the final confrontation.

3) Teagan.  Really, Bioware, you had this wonderful CC and the Teagan we get in Inquisition looks like the misbegotten love child of Rendon Howe and Loghain MacTir.  It looked like they just pressed a bunch of buttons at random making him with their eyes closed and added an ugly hat.  Making me wish he'd adopted the Orlesian custom of a mask.  On the topic of CC, you also had this amazingly detailed beautiful CC and you give us two dozen hair styles with textures of some of the colors looking like plastic GI Joe helmet hair or straw.  And 13 different variations of "bald" is still bald.  Please, DO NOT WANT!!!

4) The whole situation with Orlais and who should rule.  I never read the Masked Empire.  Have no desire to read the Masked Empire.  I shouldn't have to have read books/comics/websites whatever to enjoy the damn game.  I had no idea who to put on the throne, they all looked dirty/guilty and I could never find enough damn halla to implicate all three.  I felt that entire part of the game was a waste of my time, and felt no investment of emotion in any of it.  At least in Origins, you can have a stake in who rules Ferelden or Orzammar depending on your character's background.  I just thought Michel de Chevin and Imshael were characters created for Inquisition, I didn't realize they turned up elsewhere in the game universe.

5) Too much filler stuff in the game.  While I enjoyed my 'canon/completionist' playthrough, it felt like 90% of the game involves doing a lot of quest grinding/meaningless side stuff just to reach endgame.  Most games I ignore half the extra content, that way it doesn't get to be a chore for each playthrough.

Overall, the positives outweighed the negatives in the game, and I am thoroughly enjoying the story (on my 5th playthrough now).  OP just asked for 5/5, and that's what I provided off the top of my head.

Five things I liked:

*The beautiful landscapes. All of them were great and well-realized, but the Storm Coast beats them all.
*The war table. Not much of a strategic element, but it gave a good impression of affecting the world on a larger scale.
*Skyhold. I love my soaring castle in the middle of nowhere (I'd like something very different next time regardless).
*Crafting and armor tinting (only combined).
*Chateau d'Onterre. Very intense mood, heartbreaking story which illustrates certain aspects of the world. The best kind of quest.

(I would've listed the character creator here if not for the hairstyles)

Five things I disliked:

*The fact that I lose the Mark in the end
*The selection of hairstyles and the fact that many of them were ugly AND too modern AND too bald *Shudder* WHERE ARE MY BRAIDED HAIRSTYLES FROM DAO?
*The walking animation of my Inquisitors in cutscenes, especially the females. We are not gorillas!
*The beige PJs. The fact that I can't wear my most impressive outfits where representation matters most: in my throne room. The fact that I can't wear them where I can make the best screenshots: in cinematic conversation scenes in Skyhold.
*The low main plot density.

Honorable mention: the paraphrasing. It didn't lead me astray as dramatically as in ME or DA2, but having to guess what sort of deeper content the writer associated with a short phrase, that SUCKS!

I liked:

- Cassandra and Solas: She's dreamy and he's edgy.

- The landscapes: Very pretty, I like riding the horse around like it's Skyrim.

- The crafting: I thought it was rewarding to get something powerful.

- Lots of dialogue options. And they were consistent in their tone.

- Steps towards integrating talk-play and game-play: The dialogue wheel appears dynamically, can walk out of talk, etc.

I disliked:

- Sera and Iron Bull: I don't have the patience for Sera and Bull sounds like he's trying hard to be cool.

- Your role: I believe the Inquisitor lacks the skills required to lead an organization. As it is, you should be another 007 type, like a Council Spectre.

- The controls. If I can control fine the ME series and the first 2 Dragon Ages as well as many other RPGs but as of today I still swing at the air regularly, that means it's not just me.

- The animations and effects: People refuse to believe it when you tell them, but as a matter of fact Femquisitor wiggles about even more than Hawke. Also the baton twirling, the over the top two handed swings, as well as the lightning effects on every skill. Too much confetti and sparks around making combat confusing.

- ...And like everyone has said and will say, the filler wasn't interesting enough.

Likes:
- Visual design of characters and environments (hair notwithstanding)
- Crafting system (but the way stats interact needs more explanation)
- Companions, especially Cassandra (one of Bioware's best characters)
- Voice acting, music, and overall sound design is excellent (banter bugs notwithstanding)
- Trespasser (genuinely amazing and powerful ending; pity we had to pay extra to get it)

Disliked:
- Combat feels too actiony and not tactical, much preferred the old style; this one is almost a game breaker for me. We badly need the full tactics system back for the next game
- Boring quest design in the open world zones
- User interface (especially on PC) is very poor; Tac Cam badly needs to be reworked
- Main story is short, kind of disjointed, and mostly feels unsatisfying (until the payoff in Trespasser)
- Animations look very dated and rough by modern standards (time for Bioware to invest in some mocap)
- Hair (so bad it deserves a dislike all of its own)

Overall my likes are centred on the aesthetics, and my dislikes around the gameplay and controls. I really hope Bioware keeps the overall look and feel of DAI for the next one, but works hard on improving the controls, AI systems, UI, and combat, because while I enjoyed experiencing DAI, I can't say I enjoyed playing it.

I should have a go.

5 things I liked:

- lore revelations

- some weapon and armour models

- inclusion of dwarves

- how specialisations were done

- ???

5 things I disliked:

- disjointed main plot, the protagonist never feels connected, companions feel like tack-ons rather than essential to anything, with a few exceptions

-cartoonish, button mashing combat with few to no tactics; combat was horrible

-plot decisions being largely irrelevant to the outcome of the story

-horrible, MMO style fetch quests

-super bland protagonist, just seems to be there for the sake of being there..

- it really was a weak game compared to many previous titles; BW needs to stop experimenting and implement what works

THINGS I DISLIKED TOO [altered your remarks in the process]

  1. Given the size of the game itself, the minimal amount of significant choices that change how the story plays out was really peculiar.
  2. Corypheus was a villain in name only, and a very weak one at that?? Never has the DA franchise chosen to have a total "wuss" as the bad guy????
  3. A true origin point of view for our Inquisitor was definitely a drawback
  4. Better hairstyle selections ... Seriously.

Liked:

1. Dorian's butt. A nice bubble butt is well appreciated.

2. Dat soundtrack.

3. Waterfalls and pretty much the graphics and visuals in general.

4. Crafting is actually pretty multi-layered.

5.

Disliked:
1. DLC/Stuff pack pricing and geoblocking. Like really? I save like $3-5 if I buy using a VPN set to USA than the usual Australian (sounds like nothing but I'm a uni student full time paying crazy rent and all them adulty things).

2. That hold/wait dun no work.

3. Characters getting stuck/not executing an action when in a battle.

4. Main plot was watered down and short. I feel like Origins had a good foreboding vibe which we lost in DA2 and tried to regain in DA:I but Corypheus didn't seem all too threatening compared to blight. Not enough of that atmosphere.

5. The fact that Val Royeaux keeps making me feel like poor peasant scum. :(

Off the top of my head:

I loved the return of multiple races, loved qunari as a playable race, loved the graphics, loved Bull and Dorian's romance (usually get **** buddies or flirtationships, so the two of them eventually having a genuine love affair was nice), loved losing an arm (physical consequences to our dangerous lives).

Not a big fan of endless wandering in the name of exploration, or how some romances got significantly less content than others, race-gated romances, the fact that your relationship with Solas is considered significant even if you ignored him the entire game, and the lack of connection to our background.

1: Dude, what's with the retconning? You can't establish that mages are rare and shared between Dalish clans only to say in the third game that it's common for the Dalish to toss mages out to fuqing die when they're children. Jeesh.

2: I'm not a huge fan of the combat system.

3: Hawke. Dude, that's not my Hawke. She didn't have a thousand bees up her ass about blood magic.

5 THINGS I LIKED

1. The character creator was much better than in previous games, allowing a lot more variety in faces. Its only major shortcoming being the hair and eyebrow selection. Complexions could also use an improvement, but otherwise I'm really happy with it.

2. Crafting was a great addition, especially once they patched in the tint armor table. It allows great control over the Inquisitor and Companions' looks, and with the Fade-Touched materials and the upgrade system you can craft your weapons and armor into pretty much anything you want. It does tend to make unique items useless, though I think they mostly fixed that by giving purple items unique abilities that you can't get with crafted items (explosive arrows, all basic attacks are whirlwind, singing buffs etc.) Not sure if they introduced that with Patch 10 or Trespasser, but it's made unique weapons a lot more relevant.

3.  Trevor Morris did a stellar job with the soundtrack. DAO and DA2's soundtracks were fine in-game, but were pretty forgettable apart from one or two tracks (and the themes, which were both great). The music from Descent and Trespasser was even better than the main game, so I'm hoping they keep him on for DA4.

4. I ended up liking all the companions, though it took time for some of them to grow on me. Also felt the companion interaction was done better than in previous games: they usually have at least one comment after each story mission, if they start a relationship with each other you can actually ask them about it, you get different cutscenes depending on high/low approval etc.

5. Trespasser gets its own mention because it's amazing, not just on its own but also because it makes the main game better. The new upgrades for every active ability add a lot of variety, the trials (especially Even Ground) mean I can tackle content in the order I want without having to fear making story missions overly easy.

5 THINGS I DISLIKED

1. The PC UI is very aggravating. Why do I have to scroll through so many things ? This is especially annoying in the inventory, but even companion selection becomes annoying because you have to go through everyone's cards to get who you want.

2. The 8 slot limit for active abilities, and the fact that abilities that are not hotkeyed can't be used at all. I don't get why they thought it would be a good idea (make it more strategic was the idea I imagine, but I don't see how limiting the number of abilities you can use in any given encounter does that). This is even worse now with the new upgrades for abilities.

3. Too many collections and fetch quests, especially since the rewards you get aren't all that great. (I liked the astrariums though).

4. Corypheus doesn't really live up to his potential. Apart from the Battle of Haven you pretty much beat him every time he tries something, so that he never really feels all that menacing. There should have been a few more setbacks before What Pride Had Wrought, which would have also served to make the main story a bit longer. As it is it sort of feels like it's missing a third act.

5. I think the lack of NPC interaction outside of main story missions is the biggest problem they have with their side content. The region story-missions would have been a lot more engaging if we'd had some people to interact beyond asking a couple of simple questions about local problems. This applies to the companion quests as well (Vivienne's for example, like, you get to see Bastien for all of 10 seconds before he dies). Jaws of Hakkon was a step in the right direction in that regard.

1. Iron Bull: Especially in Trespasser seeing the road I saved him from was lovely <3

2. Solas relationship : I really really want to see that pay off in DA4 or this will go from a like to a dislike :( And no I'm not talking about the romance >_>

3. Ze graphics: So pretty!

4. Trespasser was amazing. You guys should do epilogue dlcs like Citadel and Trespasser more often (though more on the Citadel level. Trespasser could've used more meat).

5. Artificer Rogue was far far more fun than I thought it would be.

Dislike.

1. WTF did you guys do to mages. That 8 slot limit tho :(

2. The lack of tactics. BioWare. Your AI is not good enough not to have tactics. STAPH. NEVER DO THIS AGAIN.

3. Jesus christ what is with all this fetch quest garbage? AND THERE'S SPECIALIZATION FETCH QUESTS?!? LIKE WE NEEDED MORE?!?

4. Not being able to tell recruited companions to bugger off without pissing them off first unless their name was Sera.

5. Hawke's cameo was terrible. If the Inquisitor is not the protagonist in the next game please don't do a repeat. Just leave him/her offscreen I beg of you.

  • The companions - Cassandra, Dorian, and Vivienne are among my top five favorite companions in any of the DA games.  Even my least favorite companions in DA: I aren't that bad.  Both Sera and Cole grew on me.
  • Expanded race selection - If I never get stuck playing as a human only again, I'll be happy.  Hooray for the return of playable elves and dwarves.  Double Hooray for the return of female dwarves period.  And Triple Hooray for the inclusion of the qunari!
  • The return of party armor - I actually loved how they did this.  I thought the looks for each of the companions were varied and unique and totally added to their characters.  I also loved the ability to modify and tint armor.  Great additions
  • Dorian - I know that people view him as a 'token' who's story 'was all about being gay'.  But it was really a huge deal for me to have a gay male companion.  It's the first time ever in a Bioware game that this happened.  Past m/m party members were all bisexual (with strong female preferences).  And the gay males were always relegated to NPC status.  Awesome to see a gay male character kicking ass on the front lines of battle.
  • The open world maps - Yes, some of them felt too open.  But they were gorgeous.  The artist work on these maps was amazing.  It would have been nice to have them feel more "lived in", but what existed was varied and beautiful to look at.

Disliked:

  • The fetch quests - It really felt like I was soloing an MMO at times.  Particularly disliked when the fetch quests coincided with the platforming approach (like the hard to reach shards)
  • Qunari hair styles - Yes, I know that hairstyles writ large were bad, but there were enough for me to have 2-3 per gender that I could live with.  Except for qunari.  They were atrocious.  I didn't hate the mohawk (for male) or mudbun (for female) styles, but that was about it.  I never created a second male qunari because I just couldn't stand to have them both have the same hairstyle and I hated all of the others.  And, especially disliked, the decision to combine horns and hairstyles onto one slider.  What a terrible idea.
  • The Inquisitor's armor - Crappy, terrible styles.  It was so disappointing to see all of the amazing looks that your companions could have and then you were stuck with such shitty looks for yourself.  And it was even more disappointing when the racial restricted armors were all non-customizable.  Very lame.
  • Mounts - Total snoozefest.  Waste of resources.  Boo.
  • The glitches - The game was super buggy when it first came out.  I'd never go so far as to say that it was unplayable, but there were some game-breaking bugs that really put a damper on my enjoyment.  At one point, I ran into the bug where Hawke's customization would force your PC to switch accents.  So I waited patiently for several weeks for them to release a patch for it (starting a second character and playing DAMP).  They finally fixed it and I happily began playing my canon character again only to end up running into the dreaded "Dorian/Giselle" bug.  Then I had to wait another few weeks for that patch to drop.  In the meantime, I'd finished two of my 'non-canon' playthroughs while I was waiting.  It was super frustrating.

Liked:

- Graphics - despite the fact that the game was quick to lag (if only when combat commences the first time), and never returned to a smooth state

- ALL the companions and advisors (minus the choice to give characters blemishes such as skin lesions... urk), and the only bad character design in the whole game (excluding the aforementioned subtraction) was G.D. Florianne... why did she look so evil AND ugly? Kinda a dead give away.

- Eye colour... gawd that was an awesome idea!

- Multiple race options! Yay!

- Romances... BioWare hasn't failed me in that department so far

Disliked:

- PC controls, which should have been the primary focus

- Cassandra's incredibly dark, er... shall we say, private chest parts, which would be too dark even for someone such as Vivienne or Barris (I have yet to complete Sera's romance, though I'm guessing it's the same for her)

- Lack of (decent) hair and horn options in the character creator, and lack of an ability to choose the eyebrow colour, separate of the main hair colour

- The fact that the ears always either clip with the hair, or look really ugly because you've tried to avoid the clipping

- Undead being counted as demons, and spawning from fade rifts

I gave some negatives amongst the positives, but that's because there's often room for improvement, and it's hard not to mention those glaring things.

Yeah, I hated that. I couldn't even use the bun hairstyles because the skull clips into the hair so that they have a large, bald spot. Ugh.

Companions- Best in a BioWare game, probably in every game ever.

Crafting- Best in any game ever.  I loved the variety and just...all the things.  I actually had fun crafting for the first time whereas before it was either a chore or felt like a gimmicky add on.

The Inquisitor- One of the things I was worried about with the game given the treatment for DA 2 and Hawk that they really would have done a 'traditiona' bland, worthless, monotone, unchanging unless we head canon it, character.  Yet the Inquisitor did have a story arc and a rise to power arc.  Trespasser was the final touch stone.

Music:  best in a video game.

The DLCs:  The best in a BioWare game and really they made me appreciate DA more as a franchise, it is now my gold standard gaming franchise, and gold standard game becase of the DLC.

Disliked:

The Utilizaiton of Corypheus-He was a great baddie, even in DA I, yet I felt they could have handled him a lot better and gave him more screen time.

The repetitive nature of the quests:  Fetch quests are fine for me, they serve their purpose.  But quest after quest where you find rings for people?  Having to close 75 different fade rifts?  (disgusted noise).

More general bad guys-  The secondary cast of bad guys while strong, had a lot of the same problems as Cory.  Especially Florianne.  Also Corpses.  Way too many corpses.

Fallow Mire-Just...no.

On the note of side quests:  I loved the way in DA 2 how each companion had 3 quests in the story, one per act, that should have returned instead of what they ended up doing.

Things I Liked:

1) Character Creator - Wonderful and detailed (as far as faces go). Would have liked it more if hair was better/more varied and if there were body customization options as robust as the facial customization was.

2) Gorgeous Landscapes - The zone visuals were stunning. I have no real criticism at all here. About the only thing that would make it better would be a day/night cycle and non-static weather.

3) Unique and Interesting NPC Personalities - While I like some npc's more than others, I feel like they all felt like real individuals with their own reasons for being with the Inquisition.

4) Crafting - While gathering can be tedious, the payoff for engaging in the crafting system is well worth it IMO. I love how I can make my own gear and tailor it to the stats I feel I need. The fade-touched options also made gear unique and even encouraged crafting multiple sets of gear for different situations.

5) Skyhold - While the customization options were limited and we never got to actually fix the entire structure, I loved the way we come to Skyhold from Haven, and I love how we get to build it up and customize it. I hope future "home base" concepts expand on this and flesh it out much more.

Things I Disliked:

1) The 8 skill limit on the action bar was VERY frustrating. Some skills are situational but it's nice to have them on the bar when you do need them. Dispel for rifts is one of those skills. Focus abilities eating up one (or more) of those slots also felt punitive considering the frequency with which you can use them.

2) Main plot felt threadbare compared to all the side stuff and filler. I feel like there should have been many more main plot events like Wicked Hearts and Adamant.

3) Skill trees. The skill trees are too restrictive. You have to take skills you don't want to get ones you do, usually with no alternative route to get to that skill. I also would have liked to see MORE skills in each tree to give more variety in character abilities.

4) Main Villain feels lacking - Corypheus makes far too few appearances leading up to your final battle with him and he just doesn't feel like he's as big a threat as he should. He's great during the destruction of Haven but we see nothing of him for most of the game after that. I think Cory could have shone more if there we more "meanwhile..." type cutscenes that show what Cory is up to while I am doing my thing, kinda like how we saw a bit of what was going on with Loghain in Denerim in DAO. More interaction with Cory to really build up animosity towards him would have been welcome.

5) Too much filler - There were far too many "filler" quests. Particularly the requisition quests. I don't mind some filler like the "take flowers to my wife's grave" type quest but I'd prefer more side quests with some meat to them like say Josephine's personal quest with the contract on her life. There were multiple parts and side story advancement because of my actions.

While I didn't want to include this in the "dislike" list, I felt compelled to mention that I personally didn't feel like any of the romances fit my taste. DAO will forever be remembered for Alistair. He was the best romance I've experienced in any of the DA games. I hope we can see a romance like Alistair in the future that is open to both genders. It'd be nice to see a strong masculine "prince charming" type male romance option that can be romanced by male PC's. Iron Bull sort of tries to be something like that, but he's just not very romantic in my eyes, and he doesn't really fit the whole "prince charming" ideal either. I do like how Bull is forthright and basically tells you he's not one to play the submissive role in a relationship regardless of the PC's gender.

Five things I loved:

Cullen romance

The companions were great, except a couple whom I won't name because of the fan girls and boys

the main quests were exciting, loved them.

Began to feel strongly about my companions by the end

I liked the feel of some of the content

Five things I didn't like

Massive areas that you had to grind through.

Collecting Shards

Not enough dungeons

Fetch quests that made no difference

No camps, loved the fireside chats in DAO (companions were spread out all over the place)

LIKED

1. The art direction. It seems to me that Dragon Age has finally found its groove when it comes to achieving an aesthetic that was distinctive and unique. I found the art direction in DAO to be rather gaudy and generic. In Inquisition however, the art direction felt more put-together and cohesive. The motif of tarot cards (which are often colorful and packed with symbolism) was such a brilliant justification for DA's vibrant color palette and design. The tarot cards unified the aesthetics. It all made sense.

2. The companions. I found each one to be complex and memorable. Even those I know I would never get on in real life I found compelling enough to recruit them into my cause, and include them in my parties. I Now, there were some characters that I wished had better, more developed storylines, out but on the whole I was invested in each one of them, and I loved how their relationships with each other progressed throughout the game. Shoutouts to Viv, Dorian and Cassandra, even if my elf mage Quizzy poo-poohed Andraste and the Chantry, and disagreed with Viv at every turn.

3. Trespasser. It was such a great and fulfilling ending, as well as a great set-up for the next game. I particularly liked that, at the end of it all, a pretty important physical part of the Inquistor had to be removed. I can’t particularly say why I liked that the consequence had this particular physical impact, though. It was final, finite.

4. Solas. It was amazing to finally see the dreaded Fen’Harel unmasked and subverting my expectations – all along I was expecting him to be this great, fierce, wolfish figure who was mad and bad…and it turns out that he’s the humbly-dressed, level-headed (except when it comes to letting Thedas burn while he brings the Ancient Elves back  <_<) wandering fade nerd who paints murals. He honestly makes for a more compelling antagonist than Corypheus. I do so hope that we get to encounter him in the next game.

5. The expansion of the lore and the fact that they’ve raised so many interesting questions. There were some great WTF moments in this game. Props to Bioware on this front.

DISLIKED

I share a lot of other posters’ qualms, such as poor hair options in the CC (otherwise it was amazing), Corypheus’s final fight and overall involvement/presence in the story lacking oomph and menace, and grueling fetch side quests. So that’s three…

4. The fact that once you’re done with the main quest in the vanilla game, you don’t really have any more meaningful interactions with your companions in Skyhold. It would’ve been nice to have a post-Corypheus quest or…something for each one of them in the base game.

5. Personal peeve, but I hated some of the vertical levels in some of the regions. The landscapes were all gorgeous, but when I went shard hunting, it was such a chore to jump around trying to get at difficult-to-reach shards. The fact that there were invisible barriers here and there made it all the more frustrating—rough, mountainous terrain I can handle. But rough, mountainous terrain and invisible walls? Argh.

I liked the game over all and it would be hard to choose 5 things..

I did like Sera and Morrigan's continuing story.

Dislikes..

The small print.

Leliana just didn't look like she did in DA:O.. I found that a hard pill to swallow. I'm 67 and my looks hasn't changed that much over the years.Sheesh! Looks like she had a plastic make over by a certifiable plastic surgeon  quack.
