What do people prefer here? giving varric the shard in DA2 or not? i know a bit of what is said but thats it.
It's one of the 2 things i just can't decide on for my "perfect" world state (the other being a dead or alive anders)

Depends on your Hawke. Mine was wary of red lyrium, so she encouraged Varric to leave it alone. It helps that she cared about Varric's wellbeing. If your Hawke doesn't care, or believes in being bold, then encourage him to keep it.
But at the end of the day, Varric keeping it and studying it contributes nothing to Inquisition. If it resulted in find a cure for it, that would be one thing. But no.
With Anders' potential execution, you really have to consider how much your Hawke liked Anders (especially friendship/rivalry), and how sensitive Hawke is to being betrayed or lied to or whatever. Consider the quest with Feynriel and entering the Fade, if you brought Anders. Also, consider how Hawke/you handled Anders' Act 3 quest. Did Hawke accept his premise? Did Hawke have to be coerced? Did you help him at all? Was Hawke suspicious?
For now we have no idea what the differences between him being dead or alive are. There might have been a small change in Sebastian's war table quest, but I'm not sure about that. Probably Hawke and Sebastian are the only characters that will be affected by the choice (minus romancing Tallis, as in my 4th world state where I romanced both her and Anders, but ended up killing him).

You actually get two different war table missions depending on Anders being alive/dead. But except from that? Only small dialogue differences.
As for Red Lyrium Shard. I personally never let Varric keep it, but since it has no impact (except for - once again - small dialogue differences), I think you can do either.

hmm I'm just going to tell him to leave it alone. seeing as my hawke is a caring humerous one.

I liked anders. always did since awakening. and always have bin a big supporter for mages. (and hawke is always a mage for me).
But what anders did was such a horrific thing. im seriously pissed at him for it. But i guess ill just let him live but send him away.
Im hoping theres a return of anders/vengeance/justice in the next game which i hope and expect there to be.
Quick little off topic question. is 60 influence a lot? that wouldve bin the reward from a dead anders war table quest. just curious ![]()

Nah, not really ![]()
Alright thanks all
off to start inquisition. it's bin a long time coming.
If you deny Varric the shard, Sandal makes an amaaaaaazing rune out of it. 33% attack speed bonus iirc.
Which is honestly not even a factor because allowing Varric to keep it is ridiculous considering what red lyrium did to his brother and Meredith.
If Anders is alive, Sebastian invades Kirkwall and you have the opportunity to oppose or support him.
If Anders is dead, Sebastian pledges his support of the Inquisition and extends humanitarian aid to Kirkwall.
A world without Anders:
