Some of you have vast knowledge of the DA world and I'd like to start reading.  I want to read Asunder because I love Cole but what should I read before that.  List in order the books I should read, would appreciate if they had kindle copies but I'll find that out.  TIA.

The Masked Empire is great!  It's about Briala and the others from the Winter Palace. Definitely recommend that one. It's a great book I would have enjoyed even without the connection to the games.

You say you wanted Asunder - I liked that one too, though not as much.

The first two books about Maric/Logain I didn't like. I haven't read the one about the Gray Wardens yet, so can't comment on that.

They are all available for kindle.

I personally prefer to read them in chronological order.

The Stolen Throne - Maric and Loghain retaking Ferelden

The Calling - Duncan, Fiona, Maric, and more on the Architect

Asunder - Mages, Cole

The Masked Empire - How the mess in Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts started

The Last Flight (Thank you for reminding me, katerinafm) - Story of the fourth blight

Then there's the comics that follow Alistair (Varric and Isabela tag along):

The Silent Grove

Those Who Speak

Until We Sleep

I enjoyed The Stolen Throne and The Calling over Asunder and The Masked Empire. I found Asunder to be rather dull and I didn't like Cole. Funny because Cole is one of my favorite characters in DAI. And I was very glad I read The Masked Empire before DAI came out. I didn't find The Last Flight to be all that great either. Was very meh. I do recommend reading all of them though.

Asunder is my personal favorite and that and the Masked Empire are the books more closely tied to the current timeline and what's going on. If you are interested in that, start there (Asunder and then Masked). A book that's also set in the current timeline but has to do with the Wardens and doesn't really touch on stuff that happen in DAI is the Last Flight. But there aren't that many books anyway, so if you read books fast then just start from the very first book (The Stolen Throne, then The Calling, then the rest I mentioned above). If you want to read in sets just think of it like this

Books that have to do with long past events:

The Stolen Throne

The Calling (pretty much a continuation of the first book)

Last Flight (due to flashbacks and with a different story than the first two)

Current events/just before DAI:

Asunder

The Masked Empire

Last Flight (technically. The majority of the book is set in the past).

I have looked on amazon so yes I have googled.  Some people love Gaider some hate him.  I wanted more than just google it.  Abyss108, thank you.

All the books are available on kindle ( That's how I have them), and I enjoyed them all. As mentioned above, The Masked Empire was really good, and I really enjoyed Last Flight. That one is about the Gray Wardens and goes into the lengths they will go to to stop the blights. It also expands on just how bad blights are and why they have that mentality.

The Masked Empire and Asunder are the best, IMO, but if you really love the setting then I'd go ahead and read all of them. I agree with those who say it's good to read them in chronological order!

I purchased all of them via Amazon, and each one has its virtues.  I think I have all that are available, so in chronological order:  "The Stolen Throne" is mostly about Maric & Logain, and gives great insight into both men and just how bitter the fight was to free Ferelden from Orlesian dominance.  "The Calling" adds to understanding Maric, and introduces a young Duncan -- the view it offers of the Grey Wardens exposes their humanity and frailty quite well, but also their strength.  "Masked Empire" and "Asunder" are roughly at the same time, 39 Dragon.  You know that Cole is in "Asunder", but so are Wynne & Shale, so its a special treat.  "Masked Empire" highlights the relationship between Celene and Briala giving real insight into them as people and the destructiveness of the Game in Orlais.  "The Last Flight" is set in 40 Dragon and my personal favorite after "The Stolen Throne."  I won't give any spoiler out, but it is really, really good, and hopeful.  There are 3 graphic novels all about Alistair's search for his father, Maric.  Personally, I don't care for graphic novels, I much prefer the regular kind; however, the stories are okay.  I just don't think the graphic medium does justice to the complex story they are trying to tell.  Isabela, Varric & Sten are in the graphic novels, too.  Hope that helps.

As was said. All of them are good.

You're not going to see the bollocks you can see in Mass Effect: Deception, as all of them are either written by Gaider or Weekes (The Masked Empire) or a lady by the name of Liane Merciel, who has only made a single lore mistake in the ENTIRE BOOK (which she's recognized, and is pretty much just a matter of swapping out "Kirkwall" for "Starkhaven" when you read it) - I applaud her after reading through the mess of Mass Effect: Deception.

Seriously, my own fan fiction is more lore-friendly than Deception. Dragon Age books are all great. And even a semi-villain in DA: The Last Flight is actually a very good person. As they say, good people mean well. They just don't always end up doing well.

I read that about the graphic novels and I said, nope.  Not because I don't like graphic novels but because Isabela and Varric don't belong with Alistair.  The rest I'll be getting.

Wondering about the World of Thedas?

WoT and WoT2 are great resources (and soooo pretty), if you don't mind the price tag.

World of Thedas is supposedly great. Not that I'd know. I have a slight issue with, uh, payment methods.

Yup. US $40 per book, and shipping can be astronomical, too (US $40 more for shipping into my country) but they should be THE SH*T.

I meant the BW store.

As for Amazon, they're 60 EUR both if I buy from German Amazon. Haven't gotten to the shipping part, because I then found out about the lack of payment methods available to me.
