In the years of waiting for the next DA game...someone should write a book about the elves, Solas and/or ancient Arlathan...

Most people here would read it now with the Solas plot having been exposed and it would serve to tide the curious over.

It would be an interesting read. I would like it more if it was set during those days before the Veil was put up.

I don't think it's gonna happen, but maybe the upcomming novel/comic featuring Fenris might shed even more light on Ancient Arlathan and Elves?

But then BioWare would leave it at that and decide none of that stuff required development or explanation in the actual game.

I would love to read a book about the young & cocky Solas leading up to the man he is today. Now that would be a good read.

Make it happen BioWare!  ^_^

110% support to Nefla. I am a gamer. Not a comic buyer. Or a book reader. Or a movie fan. A gamer. I despice how this franchise has been pulled to so many different medias that they are denying lore to the gamers to put said lore into comics.

Like the history behind Michel and Imshael, or why a warden Alistair claims to have seen his father in the fade.

Despite Bioware claiming that the comics and other medias are a different universe, everytime I investigate the plots it seems to match the videogame universe and complement it. For example the misterious voyage of King Maric with the wardens we are teased at in Warden's Keep DLC; that's a comic, and a denied lore to the gamers.

There's a new comic coming out, but I doubt it will cover the ancient elves. Unless Marius goes mage hunting in some elvhen ruins for some reason.

As for the evanuris and the ancient empire, we already know why they fell.

Spoiler

Spoiler

Perhaps but the exact details, the interactions, all they would need to do would be to create a novel expanding on details we already know.

I support this.

I've recently started on the books, and I must say I'm only 3 chapters into Asunder and I'm already sick of Orlais crap.

I endorse any new novels.  It's been awhile since we've had one :)

I'm all for this. As long as it didn't exclude the possibility of actually seeing past!Arlathan in game at some point as like a flashback or time travel or something. I'd absolutely LOVE to delve into the relationship dynamics between the Evanuris, everyday life int eh elvhen empire, and seeing Solas as he was back then (even though there's a distinct possibility he will tick me off more >_>).

yeah, no thanks.    Unfortunately, the developers have shown that they are incapable of separating the media when they do that.    The whole palace episode demonstrated that perfectly.    What should have been a HUGE chapter in the game full of exploration and lore was pretty much devoid of any substance about who the heck these 3 people were that you were going to decide who rules.     Oh... but its in the book they said.   Sorry, that's one of the issues that I think the game failed on miserably.

I have no problem with them writing off shoot books based on the world they developed.   Surely there is untold number of stories they could write about.   However, keep the game material IN THE GAMES ONLY.

I'd alter that last line to "Keep the game material in the games ALSO." Cus you are right. The whole Briala/Celene/Gespard dynamic was... yeah. I mean, on the one hand, it makes sense you wouldn't get the full ins and outs of their relationships as a complete stranger they've met on this one night and they are trying to persuade to their side of things. On the other hand, a lot of players ended up unintentionally getting Briala back together with the woman responsible for some pretty horrible things (spoilered below)

Spoiler
. So... yeah. It could have used more. Maybe Briala approaching you at Skyhold before the Halamshiral stuff even happens? Or showing up at Halamshiral the day before the party and getting to know the major players as they arrived or something.

Like I said in my own post, I do want ancient Arlathan to make an appearance in the game itself in some form, not be relegated solely to books. But books can be used to convey internal monologue and nuance you can't necessarily get out of visual media, so. Really. I just want both. In-game if I had to choose, but both is preferred. lol

I haven't read any Dragon Age books or comics and I don't have much desire to start doing so now.  I like having diversity in my fantasy franchises, so I tend to avoid books that are set in the same universe as my video games or my television shows.

They need to write more books in the DA setting, especially the history.

I have played DAI before reading any DA book I even hadnt played DA2 (because i've heard terrible opinions). And it was quite ok. The game provided all the information you need to know to be comfortable with the game.

After DAI i wanted to learn more about mages vs templars war and played DA2.

After that I read all the books and comics and watched all the videos ( The Dawn of the Seeker, Redemption, and so on).

That made me go again through all the games from Origins and I can say that having read all the books and watched all the videos gave me a GREAT insight in the world. So I would greatly appreciate new books since it gives you nice details. (like knowing the story of Michael and Imshael)
