I hope you're not advocating a delay so that they can add playable races... I'm indifferent to playable races as a concept. I doubt I'd use the option but if it's something the devs really want to do then, go for it, whatever. If, however,  it means a delay to a game I've been waiting four years for, I will rage at the idea.

I'm pretty Zen usually but I just want to play the damn game already.

Of course not. I'm just saying that with that fact there is the possibility of the addition of playable races reoccurring.

That said, I fully expect this game to be delayed. Bioware has had to delay the release of every game they have done in at least the past decade.

To be honest I don't expect a Mass Effect game with playable races in the singleplayer campaign to ever exist, but if such a thing were to happen, I am convinced that it would only be a choice between the three big races, being human, asari and turian.

This late in development any additional races will be at least as tacked on as the Qunari in Inquisition and the Pathfinder would surely end up as boring as the Inquisitor. Anything that adds variables to what and who the PC can be results in more generalized, more generic plotlines, dialog and interactions. It's simply not possible to have a character that's like the Dragonborn and Shepard in a game that's like Skyrim and Mass Effect. It's one or the other: strong narrative with a character with personality, or a lax narrative with a generic character.

I'd sacrifice my first born son to be able to play as a turian. They're the most popular races and like alike to humans enough in term of anatomy that it wouldn't require drastic changes. I do agree that it probably won't happen for a really long time except for MP.

Asari unite.

Biotic powar.

Liara.

Ali Hillis' voice.

Don't care.   Whatever brings y'all together.

(but mostly Ali Hillis' voice)

EDIT :  Oh, and "Stiff one in the lips"  I don't know why, but that has always cracked me up.

Is DA4 even being actively developed? Last I heard the Dragon Age team was twiddling their thumbs while waiting for the next game to be greenlit.

Well, it's a question of where would they go with it?  They could develop somewhat of a mutual hatred between the mages and templars, and could possibly develop something out of that.  They could say that templars got so used to using lyrium that they could enter the fade but only in short bursts and very few of them could do it.  IMO, that would be a major step backwards

I liked the Inquisitor, more than Hawke or Shepard, so if the Pathfinder is more like the former than the latter then that's great.

And I disagree with you. It's possible to have both. It may not be easy, but it is possible.

They set up numerous major plot elements for sequels in Inquisition and the DLC. There's a rogue god with Earth-shattering plans, a new pantheon of Gods predating all known civilizations, and a massive Inquisition with nothing to do.

Name one modern game that's done it successfully.

I'll answer your second question first.   SR3.  Had a huge open world.  You could do the story whenever you felt like it, whether you felt like rushing through it or not.  Or whether you felt like going and punching some people in the face and doing some WWE slam moves on them.

That being said, I feel like the god's story is over.   But you're absolutely correct.   Maybe

And you don't know SR 3 ?   You have to go and download it now from Steam.   It's like under $5 (if I remember right) with all the DLC.  Tons of fun.

EDIT :  Yah, $3.74.    Just download it.  DO IT!   DO IT!

My Warden.

But what does SR stand for?

Saints Row?

Thought you knew that.

EDIT :  You think you won't like it, 'till you start playing it.  Then you'll start playing it again.   And realize that you love this game.

EDIT x 2 :  Oh, and as powerful as your warden thinks he/she is, she's not that powerful.  Trust me.  Not even your Inquisitor is that powerful.  And Hawke, while I may love her (my Hawke was always female), wasn't that powerful.

I've played the Saint's Row games(the last 3 anyway). I would hardly call their narratives deep or their PCs fleshed out. I was confused because I've never heard anyone accuse the Saint's Row games of having well-crafted stories with complex characters. Those games are pure escapism. Not that that's a bad thing.

And trust me, bro. My Warden can't be beat.

I would.  While they may be pedantic, childish, and downright mean...    I honestly do care about those characters,   SR4, not so much.   But that's a whole other ballgame.  But they do have at least an open world and deep narrative.  While that deep narrative may not be what you enjoy, that same dialogue could be what other people enjoy.

EDIT :   And how can you play the SR games without knowing what SR stands for?

EDIT x 2 :   I mean, this puts me in the uncomfortable position of defending the OP....   Which is, "Should we have playable races?"  Which, my answer to is no.  I'm just simply trying to point out to you that it *is* possible to have a deep narrative and an open world in the same game.

I didn't know you meant Saint's Row because those games have such intentionally stupid stories and 1-dimensional characters. I thoroughly enjoy playing those games, but I don't think even the developers would say they make deep games with complex characters.

Deeper than...

MGS5?

"Yeah, I enjoyed killing that guy."

"Oh yah?"

"Yah, when that bullet went through his brain, it must've gotten caught on the side of his skull, 'cause it deflected off to the right and then ricocheted."

"Sick man."

That's a sociopath talking to you, not a person.

EDIT :  I'd like to think that the characters in SR have a little more humanity than that.

I deeply dislike MGS5 and haven't really enjoyed a MGS game in a long time. Saint's Row knows it's stupid but MGS thinks is brilliant.

I have never liked a MGS game.  I have never liked even a Mario Bros game.   Too stupid.

Save the Princess.  Save Quiet.

Wow.  WHAT A SHOCKER.
