FYI, current Crescent Shadow drop rate is 1 every ~1000 dragon runs.
And that is after you've received all other level 27s
Ouch....

Eventually, people who stick around and grind gold and runs out will get it.
There are two factors that worries me: the drop rates are seriously bad and most of older players I know are playing a lot less or almost not at all. I would like to think that all my friends will get their new shiny items, but I am quite concerned they may give in to those two factors.
The ultimate loot items being given through RNG should make the game more interesting and rewarding, but when it takes a month or two worth of farmed gold per item, it may backfire.

What is it.
Looks like 1 for 1 million gold spent, which is completely absurd. (You'd need 9m to get the Crescent)
I did the calculation for the supposed drop rate luke said. Its about 1 per 500k (assuming medium / large chests at a rate of 250g per item ), and so far everyone that has reported their gold spent (all of them known to have lots of gold and top item bucket), has aligned with this drop rate. Granted, the number of reportings is so few, as to be statistically insignificant, so the chance of error is really high.
So basically, if you're very lucky or spend a lot of gold 3.5M+ on average.

Ironically I think you would have a better chance to get all of the 27's quicker if the drop rate was higher but DUPLICATES could drop
Funny how we ask for no duplicates and then solution shafted us....(mostly)

Just an update and some more numbers for statistic purpose, I got my last non-Crescent Level 27 weapon last night and with that I have 7 weapons + the Amulet after spending 2.95 million gold since their release. Funny thing that my for my first 2 million gold I got only one item (and felt pretty discouraged about the drop rate) but for the next 950k I got the other items.
So, this is an improvement coming from my initial thought that each item would require one (or two) million gold. However, given the quality of these items (truth be told, people only care about the dagger and the amulet) plus the fact that, from my perspective, a big chunk of the hardcore playerbase isn't that hardcore anymore and most of the newer players are still after their Hakkons and far from saving 3 million gold anytime soon (that after having saved and spent 2.5 million which is what would take them to reach max loot score), these items are just out of reach for the vast majority of players, something which is understandably very, very frustrating.
I wish Bioware were more sensible and had made these items obtainable through Challenge Completion or something based on merit and accessible to most players, not something obtainable only through thousands of hours of grind + luck.

Thank you.
I'm pretty sure I have hit the 2 mil mark. 950k to go (and some luck) I suppose

While it is going to be out of reach, by my calculations it will average around 800 hrs of play time minimum (at ideal conditions) after spending at top loot bucket. Even if someone played 10 hrs a day every day, that'd be 3 months of savings. Not quite thousands of hours, but still quite a signifigant chunk of time most people won't be spending.
If the casual player spends two hours per weekend, it'll be 400 weekends, and given 52 weekends in a year, even if they play every weekend it'd be 8 years before they'd earn this much.
It can obviously always take longer. Of course someone's luck can be much better too, and it'd take shorter. . . but on average given the data I have, those are my numbers.

It just feels very artificial for devs to increase replay value for damp purposely to have low drop rates for high end weapons. What's even worse is how some of these level 27 weapons are nowhere near the usefulness of hakkon weapons and even lower end gear which makes the chase for them less exciting. If weapons like Bolt, Rime, Second knight etc, takes on avg over 100k to score than honestly players aren't missing out on much. I guess that's just Bioware logic.

DAMP has the gameplay to keep players coming back. DAMP doesn't have enough content to keep it fresh. The only way they kept us engaged was to keep us progressing at a slow enough rate that we would have content(gear) and promotions to gain. The rate at which we could get those promotions and gear had to be low enough that it gave them enough time to produce more content.
That was the logic they used early on before Dragonslayer. That's the logic they are using now that they have no more content to release. Promotions are the only real progression left, and those of us who have played consistently for a while have already passed the point of that being fulfilling.
Now that all the content that will be available is already within the game, they should consider increasing the rate of progression through promotions. If they keep it the way it is now, requiring 1000+ hours, new players will not stick around.
It's gotta be a bit demoralizing when level ones join your games and one shot everything in Perilous while you have to turtle just to survive a couple archers. Then you realize to reach that point you're going to have to spend 1000 hours, playing the same 4 maps...not something that will keep players around.
If they want more people to enjoy the great gameplay DAMP has to offer, possibly even capitalize on some new players through the GOTY edition. They should increase the rate at which promotions can be gained. It'll be more fun for everyone.
Lets just not label it as cheating and drive away players in the process this time.

Seen this happen many times when people are scoring 26000 each and a newbie has 1100 at the end of a match. A lot leave after one game.

I really enjoy the gameplay. That is what keeps me coming back almost daily. Not sure about the increase you suggest. Maybe just an adjustment to routine and threatening exp is needed to help new players?

I personally think the absolute top tier items should be extremely rare. Granted this 1 per 500k may be a bit too rare and they should also be better than the Hakkons. I don't think these items are really meant to be obtained by the casual gamer but rather a challenge for the more than casual gamer as opposed to just another weapon they'll find as they go along.

Yeah. I have meet/talked with people who are pretty low on the ldrboards lately and I'm finding the majority have at least 4 Hakkons and a couple have all the lvl 26's. Maybe there has been an adjustment. (As for me personally I still can't tell lol)
All luck buddy.
