Apologies if this has already been discussed.

I've always wondered why there is a templar banner hanging on the mezzanine level near the Inquisitor's quarters. It's not related to siding with mages/templars because I side with mages most of the time and it's always there, nor is it related to class as it was there on both my mage an warrior plays (I've never made a rogue).

Pic...

I headcanon that my mage-siding Inquisitors went out drinking with Sera, Blackwall, and Bull one night and stole it as a drunken prank.

Don't think they do.

I wonder that myself as to why its hanging there. Beyond that I never understood why you could not climb down the ladder to the lower section in this place.

No, actually I didn't realize that. However, that only makes the circumstance weirder. Why is that even there? It can't be some trophy or something because it's there from the first moment you access your quarters in Skyhold and up until that point the only exposure you've had to the red templars has been during the Champions of the Just OR the In Your Heart Shall Burn mission.

I'll just have my Quizzy go completely nude, wrap that Red Templar flag around her like a blanket. I'll then have her go to Cullen and say...

"I joined the Red Templars. You better discipline me. I've been a very very bad girl. I could use a spanking and then some." ;)

Don't you get the same banner on your watchtower if you choose the "templar tower" upgrade?

They shouldn't be. If they are someone at Bioware made a Boo-boo.

I made a comparison photo. I know, I know its terrible.

flag_comaprrison.jpg

The Templar Flag:

*Has a double gold border around the outside of the flag.

*Has a black inner circle, followed by a gold outer circle.

*The magic flames are thicker and less separate.

*The bottom comes to a round point.

*The sword hilt is curved.

So the flag that is hanging in your Quizzy's quarters is a Red Templar Flag.

Which doesn't prove that someone at BioWare didn't  make a boo-boo!

I don't know why my Mage Inquisitor put it there... Or why Its there in the first place. She is a Cullen romance, but she supported the mages at Redcliffe. So I don't understand why she put there...

Red Templar or normal Templar, it's odd Bioware would put it there in the first place.

Yeah my PCs are pro templar...but that still doesn't make any sense.

I figured someone just got lazy covering a hole.

Probably, yes. Also, broad expanses of same-y texture look bad, so they might have thrown in a random banner just to break up the monotony of the stone. That was one of the big issues with DA2. You had large expanses of minimally textured wall, and as a result, every interior wound up looking like the inside of a cardboard box.

Why not just use an Inquisition banner/heraldry though? The ones you can pick, I mean. They're already all around the castle and there aren't any in that space, so it wouldn't seem like there were too many.

Well, I just went to the Western Approach, and Frederic is in a Red Templar tent. So obviously they don't put much thought into these things

Or Frederic is such a good spy he announces his affiliation and you still trust him   The Iron Bull would approve.

Maybe, but it's still a really big, obvious, red tent with a Templar symbol on it :P

I'm not saying you are wrong.  However, I don't know if we can make that assumption based on the differences between the two. All of the differences you mentioned could be attributed to the one making the banners. Two banner makers will not sew a standard the same. It's not as if these things are printed from a template. Artistic licence and all that. It is a decent enough justification, I suppose. 'Course, I tend to be the sort to find any justification to cover up a game design error.

true but it might not have been one of those things paid attention to during the crunch (or maybe there used to be red templars near that area and they were moved and the tent was never changed to reflect that) *shrug*

Actually, there were Red Templars there, but it would be odd for Frederic to use their tent when he would bring his own. Over-analyzing is fun sometimes, apparently, considering how this thread exists at all

Yeah replaying through Western Approach now and seeing that  Maybe his was lost with the rest of his supplies?

Still doesn't explain Skyhold tho.
