So I'm deciding to do this because I'm interested in trying to make work what is considered to be one of the most underwhelming spec's in this game. (As far as I know, I'm sure someone already has a build for me)

 

So this is what I'm considering going.

 

30 magic (+2 from the fade) This will get me waking nightmare, fireball and access to glyph of warding

 

everything else in strength. 

 

Equipment

 

-Chasind Great Maul

-Cailan's set for that +5 health regen

-lifegiver

-ring of ages

-spellward

-Cinch of skillful maneuvering

 

Any advice or tweaks?

Response is a bit late, but this thread will give you most of what you need to know to build a strength shapeshifter. I favor the 2hsword you get from Mikhail for the meteor, but Chasind is a good choice:
