Because Black Widow can't one headshot most mooks on Platinum without some serious help (Tac-Cloak/Tac-Scan), Javelin wins by default as the best Sniper Rifle in the game.
And why I love Cyro Blast Back Widow for Gold so much, because no Tac-Cloak needed, as that's enough to one headshot most Gold mooks. (Tactical Cloak and Sniping has one annoying factor in that enemies change their headshot position when they lose agro of you due to Tac-Cloak)
As a person who has hand issues (and ergonomic everything) when I use my controller mod I find I don't use charge weapons. The amount your finger has to pull the muscle (through the carpal tunnel and in your forearm)/its just a lot easier to hold a charge on PC. I feel mashing power buttons is easier on console in terms of hand comfort.
So much this. And since I can't aim with a mouse, I play on the PS3. Which means PS3 issues. Perhaps this thread should have been broken into Hackers and Professionals.... err, I mean PC and Console, since the experience is clearly different between the two.

I'm not crazy about charge weapons as a gamepad player and am big on comfort, so maybe some of what you say rings true.
My preferences:
AR: Lancer
SMG: tie CSMG/Hurricane
Shotgun: Talon honorable mentions to Reegar/Piranha/Raider
Sniper: I wouldn't presume to have the requisite skill
But in the Objective Fact portion of this game...
Pistol: there be One Pistol to rule them all, and it's name is ARC
