I played through the entire game as a female elf mage.  When I finally got  to the Trespasser DLC, i found myself a little disappointed  by the fact that my romance option, Cullen, wasn't already married to the Inquisitor and/or had children.  I was pleased with the marriage ceremony when I finally talked to Cullen though.  What I want to know though, is why they still hadn't had children in the time AFTER Trespasser was completed.  Anyone have any thoughts on this or their Inquisitors romance?

I'm sad that we couldn't get married to Josephine, it would have been adorable.

Why having kids would be so important story-wise ?

And also, did they really have time to have kids ?

Solas is missing and the Qunaris are getting crazy. Yeah **** dat ****, just put a baby in mah belly.

Considering all my other romances ended up poorly (all Dragon Age included), I think a marriage is the best option we could have got.

My inquisitor Aurora married Sera and I was quite content with that outcome. It happened before the whole qunari/elf battle started anyway. And when I took Sera with me the first time we went through the mirror I had a chuckle when she said "this does not count as a honeymoon!" heh

I'm curious about how the other romances play out. Including one were Solas is the romance partner who breaks the whole thing off right before the end of the main game.

Cullen and Sera can be married. All others have specific dialogue options.

Lol, the Solas romance ending in Trespasser has.. hm.. probably the most realistic ending of all of the romances.

You do realize that that is a HUGE no-no for role play right? That would have taken the option of marriage and children completely out of the player's hands.

Even if Cullen were my primary DAI romance I would completely reject this as total removal of agency of MY own character. Now that the game is done, sure, she belongs to Bioware and I have no control. But while the game is still going on? During a DLC where I still have choices and such? No way.

Honestly this criticism is completely absurd. You got a marriage option which many of the Cullen fans were clamoring for. Can't you be happy with that? Is it really so difficult to head-canon children after the game is over?

With regard to babies, I think that Thedas has got birth control pretty well covered.    In fact it is noticeable how few children there are even in earlier games, whilst there are none apart from Keiran that we actually see in DAI.    So however they prevent pregnancy in Thedas, I'm pretty sure that the Inquisitor/LI would have taken precautions to ensure they do not get pregnant because it would really complicate adventuring.   (We had the girl friend gets pregnant scenario back in Baldurs Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal and it really did stretch credibility that they would be able to maintain it given the amount of trauma their body is constantly subjected to).

What I objected to was Varric's little "joke" with Cassandra, which with the majority of cases was just awkward when she mentioned it (and somewhat unexpected because I thought they had said there wouldn't be any marriages), but with the Solas romance it was downright cruel (of the writers) and made Varric appear a total jerk and Cassandra a complete idiot, since plenty of other characters had already asked how Lavellan was coping and so it was clearly known that she hadn't moved on since Solas had left.

Actually, I'm wondering if patch 11 addresses that... Perhaps she isn't supposed to say anything to characters in select circumstances...

"Fixed an issue where Cassandra was incorrectly referencing the player’s romantic interest in the Winter Palace."

Huh? I don't get this complaint.

You literally have the perfect headcanon set up for children afterwards. Especially if you disband the Inquisition. You can then focus on your family and your little lyrium rehab center. That's what my Cullenmancer did.

The only thing that somewhat ruins it is that ending scene at Haven.

Though it would be epic if you could have told Arl Teagan via special dialog option if you were involved in a proper romance: "I think I'll name one of my children after you.  The grumpy one."

It doesn't. I replayed Trespasser after downloading Patch 11 and she still thought my Solasmancer was getting married (she just had no idea who to).

Sweet irony.

But yeah, OP, I'm not really sure what the complaint is. Does Cullen even suggest that he wants kids? I haven't played his romance.

Better question: Can Cullen have kids?  I remember having this argument once but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised that Lyrium abuse can make one....impudent?

Children should come at a later time. In those 2 years the Inquisition was trying to rebuild, restore order and getting harassed for it. Now that Solas is a major threat, children would not be the best idea either if he succeeds in his plans.

I loved my romance! Bull was precious! He and my Inquisitor have been together for 2 years,  and when apart, had their necklaces to remind them of their love for each other. Bull agreed to marry her when it was all over and at the end of the DLC he was right by her side at the war table as she discussed her plans to find and save Solas.

I learned the hard way on my second PT to never romance a GW Blackwall. That ending was too much to bear.

While it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility, I'm not shocked.  Considering that both were extremely put upon by their respective jobs, who would have time to raise children?  I doubt Cullen (or the Inquisitor) would want to try to raise a child while running an organization such as the one they had.  Also, wouldn't the Inquisitor be a LITTLE bit concerned as to having a child while being afflicted with strange magic that they DON'T understand?  What if the Anchor rendered them sterile?  Or they just felt it was best to play it safe?  Do they want kids?  Lots of questions, ya know?  Best to head canon those.  Interesting though.
