Making threads is not my cup of tea, never has been(I prefer reading and commenting from sidelines),however after replaying ME from 1 to 2 to 3 I simply must mention something that I seriously don't want in ME:A to repeat and that is....badass cool armors that come with + helmet you can't get rid off!

I mean common  <_< I haven't spent about 1h trying to make perfect Shepard only to have his/her face hidden behind stupid helmet forever! I mean look at this armor in ME2 DLC just look at it:

me2_blood_dragon_armor-1024.jpgI like this armor,it is one nice f**cking armor!

But it has ugly a** helmet on it that hides my protagonists face that I can't remove at all! Which means despite being one nice f**cking armor in here because it hides your protagonists face I have no interest in using it all.Which is both damn bloody shame and waste to not use nice armor as this!Sure in ME3 this is a bit "fixed" with having option to get it off in cutscenes, but I seriously would prefer option to have helmets separated from armors as complete optional choice. So please in next game no more cool armors that everyone wants to use but avoids wearing them because we are forced to wear helmet with it and I repeat we didn't spent hours in CC trying to make perfect character we want only to have their face hidden by some ugly helmet.

helmets suck. that's why I used the Mother of all Mods with the helmet-less versions.

Lucky for you,but not everyone plays on PC man to be able to use mods, some of us are stuck with whatever the base game gives.

Personally I think they should avoid set armors, or at least also give the pieces as options in the customizable armor creator. That way people can choose to keep the parts they like while removing the parts they don't, have the pieces have more colors and textures, etc.

Maybe Bioware will do just that since they said they are looking into an expanded armor customization system last year at Comic-Con.

I hope all armor designs come with a helmet (it bugged me that Javik and Liara didn't have helmets in ME3), but I also support a toggle for all of them that it makes it optional.

And the only time Shepard didn't wear the helmet is in his dreams of chasing the kid, which nobody in the history of Mass Effect actually F***ing likes.

Actually you know what? I think I would rather play Darth Vader, while I support the option to be able to toggle helmets off I also want the option to be able to wear a helmet at all times, EVEN while in out of combat areas like on the ship and in hubs like the citadel and especially during sex scenes, just because this is the future does not mean we can't practice safe sex.

I rather wear an ugly looking helmet that protects my head than wearing some mask that doesn't offer the same protection

Depends.... I think.

If the helmet adds additional defense points, then of course you'd want one. However, like you said, a toggle to show or not to show the helmet is a good idea. Honestly, I can't see a reason for this option to be excluded. I usually wore the Sentry Interface myself.

Since ME2 I've wanted Mass Effect to include Dead Space-style armour, with helmets, built into the suit, that extend and retract automatically.

And you should be able to go into the options menu and decide whether your helmet retracts before conversations or not.

Personally, I really like the ME1's helmet toggle system. It's probably not the most immersive thing ever, but it's great to be able to decide whether or not I want to wear a helmet at any point in the game and with any armour. In dangerous environments, the helmet with the breather would automatically show up, too. Worked wonderfully, imo.

I agree that perma helmets suck. It's not like you spend 100% of your time in combat zone.

You should get a option to take helmets of armours like blood dragon or Defender armour but i think shep and blood dragon armour looks better with that helmet on.

There were so many armors I wanted to wear in ME2 and ME3 that I couldn't because I didn't want my head covered. I don't know why they made this design decision, but I hope they don't repeat it.

If the artwork I've seen is any indication, we'll be able to see the full face of our PC even with the helmet, which I feel is a fairly happy medium. The capacitor helmet from ME2/3 was like that, only it had a lot of crap on it that obscured the face.

yeah I tend to only use the helmet based armoursin areas where I felt the helmet was going to be useful ie Tali's recruitmemnt mission because the kinetic shields are being compromised by the sun for example I would boost my protection by wearing a helmet. But yeah I can see why it can be annoying for some though presonally I just make do as there's not reaslly any options there if there were I probably would use them.

In Mass Effect 2, this was a real blight of a problem. Helmets were great in that game, some great designs, gave you the special voice effect, but without the option to remove them during conversations, it kind of spoiled the idea in general. At least in the first game, you could remove the helmet at will (although not during conversations).

3, however, handled this in the best manner, as far as I have seen. There was an option to either toggle the helmet off at all times, during conversations, or, like 2, never. I quite fancied this system, and would be just fine with them sticking with it. It served it's purpose just fine.

what was that metalic looking orange armor with the cool down bonus called again? Inferno? That was my favorite, and I'd not choose to toggle the helmet. Vanguard shep with that thing on kind of looked like iron man from the back which is always nice.

Was annoying during some conversations in ME 2, but in general I prefer helmet on. That´s the one piece of armor that was always worn in combat zones if you had the possibility. But if people want to go without seeing the helmet, fine by me. As Gonder said ME 3 had a helmet off all the time option.

After Inquisition, I just want there to be actual armour in the game. Not an infinite stream of ****** trenchcoats.

Just add a helmet toggle, don't know why they don't.  ME1 had a helmet toggle.

Considering DAI uses an invisible helmet toggle,
I'd be willing to bet MEA will get that feature...

This.  Wearing a helmet in conditions that call for one is expected.  I'm not gonna coplain about a full helmet being worn while walking across a planet lacking an atmosphere.  Or toxic.  Or highly radioactive.  But I like to see a character's face when in conversation, especially in situations where the character is recognized.

Or drinking at a bar.
