Nothing? Don't give a choice of weapons if you are just going to make the heavy blaster objectively the superior?

How to optimise Frostbite for older PCs. My PC is about 3 years old and I'm running this game on Ultra at a consistent 50-60 fps. I truly hope Andromeda looks this good and runs this well.

How to make a shooter really simple?

I mean, no class system, no weapon mods, no accuracy difference between aiming down sight and hip fire, no reason to play first person (3rd person gives you better awareness with no downsides), and guns that are so accurate that you can hip-spray someone from a hundred meters away...

There are weapon mods; you can buy cards to improve your accuracy or damage power; even the jetpack (which looks awesome, but I haven't reached level 5 yet :( ) is a card.  Also, some of the special powers you can buy create classes, if only tempoarily.

By the way, I'd recommend the beta to anyone who enjoyed ME3MP; play it in 3rd person and it's like a Mass Effect pvp mode, but with a lot of very well-done Star Wars touches.

Which ones?

The original ones (Battlefront 1and 2)

Or that cheap knockoff that DICE are making?

Yeah it does feel incredibly simple, not really digging how most equipment options and vehicles are treated as powerups and how limited our loadout options are (but I chalked the limited options mostly up to the fact that it is a beta)

It is funny though for some reason at close range weapons feel a tad inaccurate yet when you are far away they feel far too accurate.

Wait there are weapon mods? Where? Also what do you mean some of the special powers you can buy create classes? Is this the beta you are talking about or what will be available in the retail version?

The beta is really weak in my eyes. I played for a couple hours the other night and I had no inclination to go back to it since then. I can say that the graphics look great, the frame rate is solid, the music and sfx do a great job of immersing you in the SW experience. But it's obvious that they rushed this game out to coincide with the release of Ep.7. There are no space battles (a glaring omission in a Star Wars game, especially considering in BF2 you could land your tie fighter or x-wing on a Star Destroyer, get out and continue the fight on foot throughout the ship). There's no Heroes-only FFA in the final release either (another glaring omission for fans of the series.)

More issues: the icons (acting as power-ups) strewn about the battlefield really take away from the experience. You'll find that your teammates are less inclined to play the objectives because they're running across the map to get a power-up that'll give them a turret or spawn them in the cockpit of an AT-ST or turn them into Darth Vader.

Therein lies more problems: turrets or proximity mines should not be relegated to icons you pick up. They should be a part of your loadout. I shouldn't have to pick up a power up to be spawned into a vehicle. The vehicles should be in the FOB's/spawns of each team, so that we may seamlessly climb into the vehicle. The hero icons are the worst. They're on the battlefield from the jump, so any scrub can pick it up and waste it right off the bat. The use of heroes should be like BF2, where you actually had to score kills and complete objectives in order to earn your right to run around as a lightsaber wielding bad ass. The flying vehicle controls are designated to 1 stick (terrible). The vertical limit is way too low for air battles. AT-AT's on-rails is so restrictive. It's essentially a turret in the air that you can only aim directly ahead. They're lazily throwing in real world guns such as AK's and M60's. If the SWU didn't have enough weapons to your liking, atleast try and make up some original weapons that look like they'd be at home in the fictional universe.

Honestly, the music and sfx are the best aspects of the beta. Other than that it's quite repetitive (2 maps, 1 for each mode available). Standard DICE issues are prevalent (getting into a game, teaming up with friends etc). It's a rather simple, straightforward, arcade-y experience. And it could've and should've been so much more.

Sorry for the rant, but I wanted to love this game even with my worries for it. Turns out my worries were well founded. Back on topic I guess: to answer the question of what can Bioware learn from it? Well, they're completely different games, so I'd say they can learn how to optimize the Frostbite engine more, as Battlefronts graphics are great, as well as the frame rate.

There lies the problem of miniature moving figurines out in the distance playing in some form of Horde mode with little incentives for "the team" to tackle objectives.

If Bio Mtl thinks of MP Horde mode with ME:A they'd better clean up the weaknesses. As is, I'll keep playing ME3MP, thank you very much.

They have released the Beta, open until the 12th I think. If you got an Origin account you don't really lose anything by trying it out.

some of them are (such as Han's blaster). But not all of them. There were no AK's or M60's in Star Wars. Ever.

I want to throw this out there, please shut up about space battles. Yes, they're cool, however people are forgetting a couple things.

1: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015) is a reboot of the BF series. That's why it's called Star Wars: Battlefront and not Star Wars: Battlefront "3", despite what fans call it.

2: People seem to forget the original Star Wars: Battlefront didn't have space battles, either. Because, it was on a new game, newer graphics etc. So, they weren't sure how well space battles would work. Space battles didn't come to the BF series, untill the second game, when they were familiar with the game's workings.

If you think of it, they're just going along with how BF1 vs BF2. This is all new for Star Wars Battlefront, be happy with that. So please stop acting like your lives depend on space battles. Supposedly, there's to be an Episode 8 and 9. Not to mention a young Han Solo movie. So, we'll likely see a Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (2019) that has space battles, just like the originals.

As far as I'm concerned, I thank EA for taking their time to revive the Battlefront series. I'm hyped for this game, I can't wait to get it next month. I love how it'll have SWBF Renegade Squadron's character creation. I love how snow glitters like real snow. It bring back found memories of the originals, and I know I'll have new ones. Hell, if I'm not incorrect, BF2 was my first game I played online. Also, BF3 wasn't rushed, it's been on and off since 2005, but kept extremely low key. Gamestops even had a release date in 2008, but it was stripped, because someone gave the "OK!" prematurely.

How the weapon overheating system should work. It's literally a better version of ME1's overheating system

It's ME1 + Gears of War active reload system.

Like I said, pretty well perfect

That magic (force/biotics) is nowhere near as cool as heavy ordinance.
