Battlefront 2's story mode established that the Empire phased out clones. That's non-canon now, but the idea was carried over into the new canon. By the time the Tarkin novel is set, most stormtroopers are volunteers or conscripts, and the clones are biologically very old.

I see, thanks for the insight.

It's funny that Battlefront 2 was popular enough to have its story elements make it into the new cannon. So not only was it a better game (IMO), but it also survived (partially) the end of the of the old EU.

Stormtroopers are good shots as long as they aren't shooting at anyone with plot armour. Observe

Imperial casualties= 3
Rebel Casualties= a lot

actually, this looks a lot like most of my games playing as Empire on Walker Assault during the beta

What can Bioware learn from Dice ? I don't know... how to make a bad game ? How to sell a MP only game with a low content for a full price ? How to disrespect a saga with cutting almost everything ? How to make a game with a terrible balance ?

Just do what you re always doing Bioware, don't look at Dice, they stink.

Regurgitated butthurt rant. What does Battlefront have "low content" in comparison to? There's nothing wrong with a game being MP only, and it isn't new for the series anyway as the "singleplayer" in the previous games was a tacked on afterthought consisting of simply playing the same maps and battles as the MP with a little briefing, or playing vs functionally retarded bots instead of other people. At launch it will have 12 maps and 10 game modes. It is getting another free map in DLC almost immediately after, along with probably multiple years of support. Here is the extensive weapons and equipment list, which will no doubt expand as well.

What was "cut"? Clone wars? So what? Lets them focus on events in the original trilogy as well as the new one that will be coming out in the next few years instead of bad movies that only neckbeard SW fans could ever possibly defend.

Terrible balance? Did you get shitstomped in Walker Assault? Looks like someone is bad and doesn't know how to fly a snowspeeder or use an orbital strike. Also, the only game any of us have playes is a beta, and DICE has a reputation for constant rebalances. If you'd played Battlefield, you'd know that. They are still releasing balance changes for BF4, which launched in 2013.

That magic (force/biotics) is nowhere near as cool as heavy ordinance.

LOL, my Vanguard shep says "Hi!" and shoots you with a shotgun while you're levitated.

Seriously, magic is way cool IF done right. And ME tends to do it right.

What was cut lol ? Did you ever play Battlefront 2 man ? Because there is a lot of things missing in Battlefront.

And 12 maps isn't enough for a MP only game, 12 maps it's the standard thing when you have a normal game with MP and SP. Selling this **** for 60$ or € (in Euro it's even worse) and asking 50$ for a Season Pass is just too much, I call this bullshit. And I m ashamed that some (a lot ?) of you are supporting this crap, this is sending a wrong message to the industry.

As for the balance, no it's just bad, and I m not a noob I play BF games since BF1942, and I only see one thing today since BF3, Dice are going downhill every new game I see, less content, less quality, more bullshit.

Uh, how to destroy a successful and loved legacy whilst also turning a complete 180 on the aspects that made the legacy behind a series?

Make a cheap, spinn-off title of a superior predecessor?

Yeah!

You mean the clunky mechanics and horrible class balance, generic weapons that were exactly the same across all factions, lack of air-ground-infantry combined arms intergration except for on Hoth (but only for one faction), horrendously overpowered and noob friendly vehicles in general and servers that crashed every other game while running half of the supposed max player count of 24-32 (don't even think about try to run more than that unless you want to spend the whole game warping/ getting killed through solid objects)? Yeah, I remember all that. Battlefront 2 was fun but nostalgia doesn't make its obvious flaws not exist.

How many maps is enough? To use your comparison, Battlefield 2 released with exactly 13 maps (same as this game given the free BoJ DLC). Battlefield 2142 only had 10. Both were MP only. Battlefronts 1 and 2 launched with around 15 or so, but many of them were small, poorly designed and never came up in online playlists due to awful balance. Those games also never got any DLC (For $5 the Xbox version got 4 completely unmodified maps ported from the first Battlefront, which doesn't really count), so they stayed at 15-20 their whole life while most Battlefields end up going up to 25+ (BF3 has 29, and BF4 has 30, for instance).

$60 is a standard price for such a game. $50 gets you the Ultimate Edition (not a "season pass" in any sense of the word as it does not expire) granting access to all the DLC they will ever release for the game over the next couple years, which if we look at past games by the developer is bound to be 4-5 different expansions consisting of near a couple dozen maps and dozens of new toys in terms of weapons, gear and vehicles. I wouldn't support buying it immediately (and I'm not) but it's the logical thing to do if you like the game, the DLCs review well, and and want to get more out of it.

"Sending the wrong message to the industry". Lol, entitled childish gamer garbage. You do realize that adjusted for inflation games are as cheap as they have ever been, despite the fact that development costs have skyrocketed? Quit looking for reasons to feel butthurt about supposedly being ripped off because you have to pay someone for their labour, and try doing research before spewing uninformed nonsense you saw anonymous people post in all caps on Reddit or whatever.

You're probably a noob if you thought the balance of the Beta was all that bad. If you really have played BF3, I'd ask you to post your Battlelog to prove you aren't, but I doubt you would.

About the only things not returning from Battlefront 2 are space battles (which were terrible anyway) and the Clone Wars stuff, which was exactly the same as the stuff set with the Rebels and the Empire, but with different skins. One might argue that the hero assault mode is gone (or whatever it was called), but if somebody really lets a single solitary multiplayer mode make-or-break a game purchase for them like that, then they're sad and pathetic.

Oh, and classes don't return, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Actually it isn't really. In fact there are two seperate versions. One is called Heroes vs Villians. It is 6v6 and similar to the original format. The other is called Hero Hunt and has a team of 7 regular troops fighting against a single hero/villain.

And yeah, space battles were dumb. It was essentially Pandemic's way of admitting that they couldn't balance the air vehicles properly, so they removed them from the normal battles and put them in their own gamemode. Further, if you just want to fly around and dogfight, there's a gamemode for that in the new Battlefront as well, called Fighter Squadron, and it will even have "hero" ships like the Falcon, Slave 1, Vader's TiE Advanced etc.

Eh, I still have my concerns over the new Battlefront vs Battlefront 2 (as mentioned in my earlier post).

I will say that one of my biggest gripes is the lack of local multiplayer. Sure you can play split screen but only offline, only on the 'survival mode', only in 1st person and only 2 players. In Battlefront 2 you could play split screen online, in any game mode (including the campaign) in 3rd or 1st person, and with up to 4 players.

DICE could've done space battles, just set the Fighter Squadron mode in space. My guess is that they'll probably add it as DLC. I wouldn't be surprised if the Clone Wars is DLC too.

I've only pre-ordered the Standard Edition of the game. I'm not paying 10.00 USD extra for emotes, the guns can be earned by playing the game. The Ultimate Edition is a joke. 119.99 USD for the base game, two emotes, early access to a couple of guns, and the season pass. Where's all the good content? Jeez.

I really wish Free Radical had been able to go forward with Battlefront 3, that game's alpha footage looked amazing.

Pardon me while I go cry in a corner.....

I have a feeling people would just have complained about it getting stagnant instead if they had actually released that, since that  game in the video is essentially what became the battlefront games on the PSP.

I agree with several of the points made as well. Most notably the random pick ups for items, vehicles, and heroes; very Mario Kart-esque as they put it. And the QTE for the lightsaber duels and snow speeder tow cable.
