What was cut lol ? Did you ever play Battlefront 2 man ? Because there is a lot of things missing in Battlefront.
And 12 maps isn't enough for a MP only game, 12 maps it's the standard thing when you have a normal game with MP and SP. Selling this **** for 60$ or € (in Euro it's even worse) and asking 50$ for a Season Pass is just too much, I call this bullshit. And I m ashamed that some (a lot ?) of you are supporting this crap, this is sending a wrong message to the industry.
As for the balance, no it's just bad, and I m not a noob I play BF games since BF1942, and I only see one thing today since BF3, Dice are going downhill every new game I see, less content, less quality, more bullshit.
You mean the clunky mechanics and horrible class balance, generic weapons that were exactly the same across all factions, lack of air-ground-infantry combined arms intergration except for on Hoth (but only for one faction), horrendously overpowered and noob friendly vehicles in general and servers that crashed every other game while running half of the supposed max player count of 24-32 (don't even think about try to run more than that unless you want to spend the whole game warping/ getting killed through solid objects)? Yeah, I remember all that. Battlefront 2 was fun but nostalgia doesn't make its obvious flaws not exist.
How many maps is enough? To use your comparison, Battlefield 2 released with exactly 13 maps (same as this game given the free BoJ DLC). Battlefield 2142 only had 10. Both were MP only. Battlefronts 1 and 2 launched with around 15 or so, but many of them were small, poorly designed and never came up in online playlists due to awful balance. Those games also never got any DLC (For $5 the Xbox version got 4 completely unmodified maps ported from the first Battlefront, which doesn't really count), so they stayed at 15-20 their whole life while most Battlefields end up going up to 25+ (BF3 has 29, and BF4 has 30, for instance).
$60 is a standard price for such a game. $50 gets you the Ultimate Edition (not a "season pass" in any sense of the word as it does not expire) granting access to all the DLC they will ever release for the game over the next couple years, which if we look at past games by the developer is bound to be 4-5 different expansions consisting of near a couple dozen maps and dozens of new toys in terms of weapons, gear and vehicles. I wouldn't support buying it immediately (and I'm not) but it's the logical thing to do if you like the game, the DLCs review well, and and want to get more out of it.
"Sending the wrong message to the industry". Lol, entitled childish gamer garbage. You do realize that adjusted for inflation games are as cheap as they have ever been, despite the fact that development costs have skyrocketed? Quit looking for reasons to feel butthurt about supposedly being ripped off because you have to pay someone for their labour, and try doing research before spewing uninformed nonsense you saw anonymous people post in all caps on Reddit or whatever.

You're probably a noob if you thought the balance of the Beta was all that bad. If you really have played BF3, I'd ask you to post your Battlelog to prove you aren't, but I doubt you would.
