With the new trials Even Ground and Walk Softly on I've come across several barriers (like the one covering the burning pits in the Exalted Plains) To be almost impossible to bring down. They regen health faster than u can dps them. I've tried it with up to 3 mages in my party to. Anyone else having this problem? I'm on PC

It is a problem. My solution was to save and reload, which will usually result in them losing their promoted status.

I don't know what would happen if you just disabled the Trial for a bit, should have tried that..

lol. When you put it like that I picture a mage walking up to a standard barrier all like "You have been a really good barrier, keeping nugs and fennecs off our cave without rest and NO sickdays. I hereby promote you to... ELITE BARRIER!" and the barrier is like "YAY! I'll make you proud". Then the Inquisitor comes along and the barrier is like "YOU SHALL NOT PASS! My boss gave me a promotion and I'm not letting him down!".

Carry several Tactician's Renewal amulets with you. Respec your mage for whatever element is required, like fire for a fire-weak barrier, ice for an ice-weak barrier, etc. Put points into the OP ability that does the most damage, like Immolate/Consuming Fire or Blizzard, and supporting passives. Take out force field with one hit. Use another amulet to put your mage back to the original build. Done and done.

Not when the barrier has 50,000+ health. I'll screen shot the next one i come across.

I love that there is a quest in the game called "They Shall Not Pass" that requires reconstructing a bridge in Emprise du Lion. To start it, you have to put a flag down in front of the collapsed edge, which looks exactly like Gandalf putting his staff down :D

I'm playing through NM+all trials and I've encountered a similar problem in Exalted Plains.  However with my knight enchanter playthrough I've found if you place the fire mine array (3x fire mines) correctly you can hit the barrier with 2-3 of them and easily break them with 1 or 2 castings.  In between spells you can keep autoattacking the barrier to keep its hp constant.  Also helps if you have the belt that increases fire damage at the cost of health.

He really isn't. Please pay close attention to the words I have highlighted, emboldened and increased in size.

he said (LIKE) the one on exalted plains not (THE). I could be wrong but im sure he means that some mages now have regen barrier with trials on and that its almost impossible to kill. Since those are the only barriers i came across that are near impossible to bring down.

There is a big difference between the Mages personal barrier.. and the Dungeon magical barriers.. But I guess we are going to need to wait to find out which one of us is correct, you, or everyone else on this thread.

I think you might be. It seems more likely that "like" in this context means "for example".
