Howdy folks. I love making different characters, and for this reason have never finished a VRPG because I always want to try different characters. I played the beginning of Icewind Dale 2 hundreds of times without finishing it (even though it gets seriously cool about the time you get to the monastary) because of this. But I'm playing NWN2OC all the way through with monk because I just can't see any character being more powerful than a monk. Once you get two attacks per turn and flurry of blows at full strength, the guy's a flat-out killing machine. They're also built to survive with the monk speed and strength (if you go that route, which I did) to shove past the bad guys. I can survive party slaughter by running my monk around, healing, and beating the ass of anyone who I get isolated until the rest of the party revives, then hit the exit and BOOM. Is there any character that is more powerful than a monk?

Sorry, Named Questgiver is the most powerful class. They have the all powerful "Summon Adventurers" special ability. No matter how powerful your monk or bard or cleric, you still answer to a Named Questgiver.

Any class can be considered over-powered in the OC, if you have enough knowledge of the mechanics of the game to fine-tune your character, and you use appropriate strategies that play to the strengths of your particular class. Create a dud character, and put little thought into strategies, and you can fail epically with any class.

What the  hell is Named Questgiver? I've never heard of it. I can only remember the OC really well.

What the  hell is Named Questgiver? I've never heard of it. I can only remember the OC really well.

Have you ever wondered how your adventurers manage to show up when some random townsperson/noble needs something, often just in the nick of time? Your adventurers can even tell who needs help because the adventurers knows their name even before they talk to them! Well that's the Named Questgiver using their "Summon Adventurer" special ability.

Summon Adventurer:

Level : At-will Class Ability for the Named Questgiver class

Casting Time: Instantaneous

Components: None required. Optional: Gold, Magic Item(s), bit of information, or goodwill.

Range: Infinite

Target: One adventuring party

Duration: Instantaneous

Saving Throw: Special (see below)

Spell Resistance: None

"Summon Adventurer" calls forth heroes and magically implants the Named Questgiver's name into their heads. It then casts a Geas spell on the adventurers, attempting to compel them to speak with the Named Questgiver. In case a neutral or evil adventuring party is summoned, a contingent geas kicks in to prevent the adventuring party from just taking whatever material component is offered by the Named Questgiver from them. If they fail their saving throws versus these first Geas spells, a secondary Geas spell kicks in, attempting for force the adventurers to carry out the wishes of the Named Questgiver.

While the size and composition of the summoned adventuring party is not guaranteed, their success in accomplishing the task is virtually guaranteed no matter the difficulty of the request. From find a lost teddy bear to defying the gods, whatever is necessary to accomplish the task will be done, even if finding the lost teddy bear ends up requiring defiance of the gods.

The summons and the magical name implantation have no saving throw and can't be resisted by any means, even Mind Blank is ineffective. Players are granted a saving throw against the two Geas spells, but they each require a very difficult to resist Will save (-10 penalty). The contingent Geas on the neutral or evil adventuring party has no penalty to it's saving throw.

In some games the Summon Adventurer spell also creates a huge yellow exclamation mark illusion over the caster's head, which apparently acts like the lure on the head of a deep-sea anglerfish to draw in unsuspecting prey.

Monks are the easist to play. No real thought just point and click the whole game.

For some people's play style that might make them the most powerful, for instance if you play without pausing monks become much stronger.
